Chief government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha says it will be disastrous if Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata is elected in this year’s tripartite elections.
Lieutenant-General Shikapwasha said in Lusaka yesterday that Zambians should not make the mistake of voting for Mr Sata who is likely to be the biggest setback to the nation.
He was reacting to Mr Sata’s remarks in London recently that Zambia is headed for a disaster under President Banda’s leadership.
“Mr Sata is the biggest disaster because he has been promoting gay rights. Nobody is interested in homosexuality and lesbianism,” Lt-Gen Shikapwasha said.
He said Mr Sata should feel ashamed talking about President Banda’s leadership, which has been good and has contributed to the growth of Zambia’s economy.
Lt-Gen Shikapwasha said Mr Sata has done nothing for Zambians and that the opposition leader has lost credibility to stand as a presidential candidate because everyone knows that he is a disastrous person.
“Mr Sata is the biggest disaster because he has been promoting gay rights. Nobody is interested in homosexuality and lesbianism,” Lt-Gen Shikapwasha said.
The minister said Mr Sata’s position on gay rights cannot build the nation, but bring chaos.
“Mr Sata’s leadership failed to save the pact with the United Party for National Development (UPND). What can it do for this country if voted into office? I can only see disaster,” Lt-Gen Shikapwasha said.
He said Mr Sata has persistently attacked Mr Banda’s administration because he is jealous of the development the President has brought to the country, including building schools and hospitals and commissioning mobile hospitals.
He said Mr Sata should commend the President for all the development and economic growth.
And Evangelical Youth Alliance International chairman Moses Lungu said Mr Sata’s desire for power is dangerous.
Reverend Lungu said Zambia is a country that a lot of people wish to live in and it would be sad to endanger the country’s peace.
Rev Lungu said although President Banda was merely winding up President Mwanawasa’s term, he has done exceptionally well in terms of development.
Leadership in Development executive director Moses Kalonde said MrSata cannot win a presidential election.
Mr Kalonde said the opposition leader’s negative stance on President Banda’s leadership is sadism and cannot be tolerated.
Committee of Citizens executive director Gregory Chifire said Mr Sata is telling lies.
He said the opposition leader has failed to show the people of Zambia how he will perform if voted into power.
Mr Chifire said Mr Sata is a spent force who has nothing to offer Zambians.
“This is the reason he has gone abroad asking for money to continue promoting lesbianism and homosexuality. Mr Sata has gone to sell the country abroad because he is bitter with the economic development the country is witnessing,” Mr Chifire said.
Meanwhile, Caroline Kalombe reports that PF Luapula member of Parliament Peter Machungwa says Zambia does not need disrespectful leaders like Mr Sata.
Dr Machungwa said in Lusaka yesterday that the PF leader is a very disrespectful man who does not tolerate criticism from anyone.
He said Mr Sata does not take kindly to people opposing him, even his own party members despite them doing so in good faith.
“He would always resort to insults, which is very offensive,” Dr Machungwa said.
“Mr Sata has called us names for opposing him, especially when we decided to attend the National Constitutional Conference. He was so angry with us that he called us rebels and mercenaries,” Dr Machungwa said.
He wondered how Mr Sata can lead the nation if he does not want to take advice from others and always wants to have the last say on everything.
“We cannot afford to have a leader who does not want to listen to anyone. It is not helpful and we should not allow it,” Dr Machungwa said.
He said it is important for any leader to listen even when he is being criticised so that he or she can get the views of others on various matters.
Dr Machungwa made the comment following Chawama member of Parliament Bredt Sampa’s complaint that the PF leader is humiliating people who oppose him.
“Any leader should be able to listen to counsel even if it does not suit them, but for MrSata that is not the case,” Dr Machungwa said.

Zambians should outrightly ignore Sata and Simutanyi’s acts of aberrations. Sata is nothing but a deviant without national interest.
We all know that on his trip openly Sata has been asking EU Governmnets why they are not recolonizing Zambia he opposed its chachacha struggles for independence.
The other day he was hosting a meeting of homosexuals in East Sussex, UK organize and sponsored by the Britain’s Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) and UK Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) chapter.
Yes, he will be a disaster to you for all the underhand deals. He will also be a disaster to your pockets. Am sure you are scared stiff. I don’t support Sata particularly but RB is equally bad. Only HH can be better but he has no chance whatsoever. So between Sata and RB? Better the devil you know….. RB… painful as it may be to say. But if Sata wins who knows?
Dr Machungwa should also listen to counsel and resign because he has openly chosen to disregard his party’s leadership. You have exhibited selfishness by clinging to your parliamentary position under PF. If you have any morals left, resign and let someone who will toll party lines represent the innocent people of Luapula.
Just the other day Sata was addressing a meeting of homosexuals in East Sussex, UK organized and sponsored by the Britain’s Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) and UK Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) chapter some PF members in the UK are members in among them is one young man who runs a blog there with a femine voice.

I now advise all PF kaponyas to print this statement and use it to vindicate me if my statement turns a total illusion distant from applied politics and the ballot verdict. I make this statement under no usual political inclination but as a grounded actor in predictive sciences that has never failed me in business, statistical analysis and political research endeavors.
I have used many variables to reach this conclusion. Should Mugara lose, as a democrat I will salute him and his party with dignity, but then will retire from blog politics and my business. Instead, will enter active politics which has never been on my calendar beyond blogging during free times. But I vow MMD victory in Kasama is undebatable.
Its a shame that Sata’s myopic mind and utopia has not been of help to intropect and appreciate the fact that through history of people with free choice, no political party has won a national election by canvassing for imperial interest against own nation state. I could not believe when i listening to Sata’s prompts in the UK at the gays forums throught this week where he has been soliciting for recolonialization of his own sovereign and democratic nation of Zambia. At one meeting he went to the extent of blasphemy by saying Godliness out in our constitution gays support us with your money.
I could not believe when i listened to Sata’s prompts in the UK on wednesday.
The only disaster here is two big noses in the upper leadership consuming everyone’s air resources. Your nose Ronnie and RB’s nose.
SHIKAPONYO CCHIKALA CHOBE. ITS YOU AND S/HIT RUPIAH WHO ARE A DISASTER. JUST LEAVE MR MICHEAL SATA ALONE. SHIKAPWASHA ******WE.
Yes Ronnie, most Zambianz can see the worry, desperation, fear and anxiety in you after realizing that Sata haz the greatest potential to win this year’z election more than ever before.

In Kasama MMD’s Mugara will sail through come what may. I now advise all PF kaponyas to print this statement and use it to vindicate me if my statement turns a total illusion distant from applied politics and the ballot verdict. I make this statement under no usual political inclination but as a grounded actor in predictive sciences that has never failed me in business, statistical analysis and political research endeavors.I have used many variables to reach this conclusion. what is this? I cant quite follow
This is were blogs of one Senior citizen my dear. He is being quoted from what he was saying which he hasn’t followed. In other words Senior citizen is a big liar.
Nakapwasha must just concentrate on what she will do after the elections. No big noses in PF. VIVA PF…….
Sata is the biggest disaster to the MMD, not to the nation.
And this Gay talk on Shikapwasha’s lips is i_diotic. We have all heard what Mr Sata’s response has been to the allegations. Give us a break Ronnie!
@5 KCC
A member of Parliament is not elected by his party. The constituents elected Machungwa and they did so not because of the party manifesto but because of what he promised them. They are the only people who can ask him to resign. That is what Parliamentary politics is all about. If the sponsoring party withdraw their sponsorship, then he can resign as well, but PF have NEVER withdrawn their sponsorship.
Iwe PF wrote a long time ago to the speaker of the national assembly to declare these opportunist seats vacant but they have been protected through and through. Machungwa has no morals and he only rode on PF populace to enter parliament. We will see what will become him come September.
Its too late for Hon. Shikapwasha to keep on complaining about Sata being disasterous. The best this MMD party in Zambian government can do is to go back to zambians and re-explain their manifesto. It is not late for people to change. Mr Rupia Bwezani Banda is just driving dying very old horse (MMD). I can’t blame him.
#4, Mr Pact. I couldn’t agree more. The people of Zambia must be very careful not to derail the country’s from this positive economic trajectory. Its by design and not an accident. I am astounded by the focus which appears to be solely on the Presidency rather than the capability of the parties. In other words who is able to build a team that can create more opportunities for Zambians, be they jobs or business empowerment. Better off, the devil you know. I pray that Zambians will give MMD another chance. Too bad the younger HH can’t make it.
MMD IS A DISASTER NOW AND FOREVER LEAVE SATA ALONE IT IS PEOPLE THAT WILL DECIDE.
Sata is not just a disaster, but a sick patient as well…………………/:)

HE WILL INDEED BE DISASTER TO ALL PLUNDERERS AND THIS TIME AROUND WITH 2010 CENSUS OF ABOVE 18 POPULATION, IT IS DISASTER INDEED. I DONT KNOW HOW PIPO WILL RIG.PA BWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
snya ctzen walipwa just shut up go bak to the land
DONTCHI KUBEBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RONNIE, DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU’RE THE BIGGEST VUVUZELA IN THE WHOLE WORLD?…..YOU KEEP RAISING THE ISSUE OF GAY RIGHTS, WHICH SATA CLARIFIED LONG TIME AGO……YOU PROBABLY MISSED HIS PRESS STATEMENT IN THE POST A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO COZ ALL YOU READ ARE YOUR OWN LIES IN YOUR VUVUZELA PAPERS……..TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK,TICKTOCK……..ABALEYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, MMD is really scared of Sata, but more importantly, why are Zambians so afraid of change? I remember when KK was ousted from power, I thought that the whole world would come crashing down and Zambia would disappear. Well, the country survived and we have had three other leaders after him. However, the notion of multipartism is something that we understand very well on paper however it does not seem to translate well on the ground. Do any of you really believe that having the same party in power for the last 20 years, even though leaders have changed, is a true sign that Zambia is multi-party state? I am just throwing this out there to solicit people’s views and please try to answer the question in the most objective manner possible. Thanks.
