Tarring of Mbala- Nakonde cheers travelling public

Share

The travelling public in Nakonde district in Northern has hailed government for finally tarring the Mbala – Nakonde road.

One of the travellors , Cynthia Chikwane told ZANIS in an interview in Nakonde , today, that the tarring of the road is long over due.

Ms. Chikwane said the development will help boost economic activities in the two districts.

She said trade between the two districts would improve greatly while cross border trade on the Zambia – Tanzania and Zambia – Burundi would also be enhanced.

‘ The tarring of the road would also improve the living standards of the people living along the road because of the increased traffic after the completion of the project, ” she said .

And Crisin Sikasote, a Mbala resident also said travelling on the Mbala / Nakonde road had been risky in the past years.

Mr. Sikasote said the road become bad on some portions during rainy season adding that tarring it would protect the lives of the travelling public.

He also said it used to be costly traveling from Mbala to Nakonde owing to the bad state of the road adding that they will be making enough profits once the tarring of the road has been completed.

The Mbla resident also appealed to the Government to urgently find money for the tarring of the Nakonde / Malawi road so as to open up the area for development.

Works and supply permanent secretary Watson Ng’ambi yesterday announced the tarring of the Mbala / Nakonde road at the cost of 180 million United States Dollas.

Mr. Ng’ambi said the 170 km Mbala / Nakonde road would be tarred with the assistance of the Chinese government under a concession loan to the Government of Zambia.

  1. That’s good. This is development we want. VIVA RB. This old Man works, I don’t know why we always like to condemn him. I will give him my vote.

    • Let’s wait and see. This is an election year and such things have been said on the Chavuma-mutanda road for so many years!!!

  2. Goods news Good news! I once travelled on this road. Tarring it will greatly improve the lives of on the most hard working ppl in Zambia. Namely, Namwanga’s, Lungus, and Mambwes. This guys are literally running businesses in Northern Province. Bembas are ever on the road side looking for quick money – selling umunbu, tute, inkoko. etc. This is goods news indeed.

Tarring Pedicle road, bottom roads is also good news to development minded Zambians

  3. It iz the obligation of to maintain roadz and indeed any national infrastructure in a state of repair and there should be no politiking about that. The once Great North Road haz almost returned to the “Hell Run” status at some points and needz immediate attention – a pure government responsibility, with or without election tricks.

  4. Click, umfwa stanyokooo.the bottom line is the a deal has been clinched to tar the road.ulfwaya nangu taulefwaya maso yakwa noko it` a 10-0 project pa nkoloko

    • No insults this is a claimed Christian Nation. Just bring out real issues not insults. We need development not insults. Wheather elections or not and do not just promise. People told one leader in North Western Province that we do not want promises, no action no vote. Don’t abandone these activities after elections. So people of Mbala and Nakonde; vote pankoloko only when the road is done otherwise you will be left in the cold like these other promises. Also open a border post in Mozi, Nakonde is conjested and the ZRA and costomes are mad with their charges who will cage them.

  5. Wait and see!!! The road construction will start after rain season.Chiluba said and promised that as well an nothing happened.I was staying in Nakonde when the promise was delivered and nothing happened. What we witnessed was direlic sable machines tryning to mess up the road.sable has been reaping cash yearn year out.It is like cash cow for sable. The two stretches mbala -Nakonde and Nakonde- Nyala road have always campaign materials for MMD.Don’t vote for them. They are lying.Vote Pawato and it will be worked on. It is the presence of MC SATA in the area that has unsettled and confused them to come up with such fake promises. They just are scared.VIVA PF VIVA SATA

  6. Its not that the Govt and RB are working. No the plans for roads such Nakonde -Mbala, Nakonde -Malawi, Mutanda -Chavuma, Bottom etc roads have been on the drawing board for along time except that there was no money to implement. Its the responsibility of the Govt of the day to develop all corners of the country funds allowing that. just like they provide security and defence. Infact if go round neigbouring countries apart from DR. Congo you will be amazed how fast they developed despite some of them having been at serious war. There are so many areas that need to be developed or urgent attention. Development should be there whether elections time or not.

  7. I am surprised no one has used the usual PF defence…’it was all started by Levy’. In their small minds Levy was also PF.

  8. We shall vote once the road is done. No road no vote for MMD we shall vote for change. Why so so many promises are you sure you will manage? Whom are you cheating is it the under five or those who have been in Zambia since 1991? This time we shall not vote on promises but on change may be them will not be cheating us like MMD. In north Western RB was told that they will not vote on promises like years before and now we have seen diesel for Mwinilunga not running out we are still waiting for the road tarmarked to Ikelenge and connected to national grid or no vote. Harryup MMD time is runnung out.

  9. Iwe Ine Niwansele, you are very rude. We are not interested in your insults to other users. The fact is that these are elections campaign promises! Thre years down the line I can tell you that this road will not be tarred yet. How long have we been talking about tarring the Pedicle Rd? It is has been in the plans for so many years. Come elections nothing after that will happen. The idea of tarring is excellent. It is one of the most strategic Roads in N Province. The other one is the Senga-Mporokoso Rd which strategically aligns the economic corriddor of Nsumbu-Mporokoso-Mbala-Nakonde-Isoka-Muyombe. I will lick my boots if this Road in question (Mbala-Nakonde) will be tarred as promised. What are the time frames? Pure electioneering!
