PRESIDENT Banda says he will work hard and ensure that he wins this year’s elections so that he develops the country even further.

“I will fight hard to win because if the MMD does not win, from what we have been hearing, it will be tragic because some people are surprised that in three years – I have boosted development and in the next five years, the country will be different,” he said.

The President said if the MMD wins this year’s elections, Zambia is likely to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) sooner than expected.

“If other countries have done it, we can also change our situation,” he said.

He urged youths to participate in the country’s development.

“Young Zambians should have confidence in themselves.”

“Zambia’s position as one of the fastest growing economies means more quality jobs will be available,” he said.

He urged citizens to build houses and invest in housing projects.

“In rural areas, we are now seeing houses made out of bricks and iron sheets. This means we are heading somewhere and that is why the opposition is desperate. But I am sorry to tell them that I have to choose between pleasing them or the people of Zambia. We want to make Zambians proud,” he said.

The K1 trillion Road Projects

President Banda said Government planned for the K1 trillion road projects because the roads were in a deplorable state.

“We put together a team to go into detail and identify roads which required to be attended to and some of them are well known like the Solwezi-Chavuma road. I am sure the people in that area are happy,” he said.

He said government borrowed money from ABSA Bank of South Africa to complete the projects.

“Some People may be wondering why there are three contractors working on that road but normally, a President has five years but unfortunately for me, I only have three, so I have to push for projects to be completed,” he said.

President Banda also said tax paid by the mines is used for the benefit of Zambians.

He said he foresees a situation where Zambia will expand its economy and the country will need good roads to move goods including copper and agricultural produce.

Mobile Hospitals

President Banda said people living in rural areas have appreciated the coming of mobile hospitals.

“We have a situation where a lot of people are showing up to access medical care and in some areas, they are even protesting when the hospital moves to another area,” he said.

“Mobile hospitals cannot reach areas where the roads are bad. That is why we are in a hurry to work on the roads,” he said.

President Banda said some people who are against the idea of mobile hospitals are the same ones who also opposed the purchase of hearses.

“I remember giving a directive to ensure that members of Parliament who were against purchase of hearses were not given the service and there was an uproar from the same people. We told them to write to us . They swallowed their pride and we took the hearses to their areas,” he said.

Luasaka City Council Land Scam

President Banda has said although he has not yet gone through the Lilayi Land audit report submitted by Minister of Local Government and Housing Brian Chituwo, it is clear that the allocation of land at the Lilayi housing project by the Lusaka City Council was illegal.

“This is the worst type of corruption, where you allocate yourselves land that is supposed to be for all Zambians just because you are a councillor. I have not yet read the report but I will do so and present the matter before Cabinet for action,” he said.

Selection Process for MMD candidates

President Banda said the selection of MMD parliamentary and local government candidates for this year’s elections will be transparent.

Mr Banda said members who are in good standing with the party should immediately start applying for adoption.

“Of course you cannot expect Mr Mpombo or Mr Mulongoti to stand on the MMD ticket. They have been talking ill of the party. Any other member who is in good standing is free to aspire for parliamentary and local government seats,” he said at a press briefing at state house.

President Banda said the party will not accept applications from anyone convicted of any crime.

“We anticipate a lot of competition especially that the MMD is now very popular because of the work the government is doing. A lot of people want to stand on the MMD ticket. But unfortunately we can only have one person per constituency or ward. Some people will obviously cry foul but there has to be democracy,” he said.

The President said young people are particularly encouraged to take up the challenge and apply for adoption.

“It is important that the youth stop listening to people telling them that they have no future because youths have a bright future,” he said.

He said the MMD has set clear procedures for application.

“If there are any queries on the application process, members can seek clarification from the party Secretariat. Aspiring candidates only have 10 days to apply because this is a busy period,” he said.

President Banda said the ruling MMD will lead by example and ensure that the selection of candidates is transparent.

“The MMD has already given an example by holding a transparent, free and fair convention, and we also intend to make the adoption of candidates transparent,” he said.

Developing the Country Because of Elections

President Banda said citizens are better placed to judge whether or not he has performed. He said he will continue to develop all parts of the country.

“We will ensure that we give every province a chance to grow. We can’t do everything at once. We are not magicians. We are still a long way off in terms of development but we will continue with our efforts,” he said.

President Banda said he will continue to develop the country despite criticism that he is doing it because of elections.

“People are saying we are developing the country because of elections. Yes, I am pushing harder because I want the country to develop. The wrong time is actually the right time and postponing projects is what is wrong. Most of the people who are saying Zambia is doomed to fail are Zambians. People outside this country appreciate the efforts made in terms of economic development,” he said.

He said he wants to be remembered as a President who tried his best to bring Zambians together.

“I also want to be remembered as someone who cared for all Zambians, someone who didn’t discriminate but added value to the lives of all Zambians,” he said.

He urged Zambians to scrutinise political leaders vying for the Presidency and choose a candidate who is not likely to rock the boat and cause problems in the country.

Milton Phiri’s Accusations

President Banda condemned former Ambassador to Malawi Milton Phiri for claiming that his (Mr Banda’s) parents were not Zambians.

“I have no problem with the opposition. I only fight back when they go to extremes like Mr Phiri did. It’s not true that my parents were foreigners, and does it really matter? Why didn’t Mr Phiri raise this issue when I was vice-president, or when I was general manager at NAMBOARD, or when I was Minister of Foreign Affairs, or when I was Mayor? Why is he raising it now, and at a time when he and the party he supports are saying they will form the next government? My parents are resting in peace, so why bring such things up?” he asked President Banda said it is not true that Mr Phiri wrote a letter to Chief Justice Ernest Sakala over the matter as he claimed.

“These are cheap politics. Many of these people who are making noise were in government but now that they are bankrupt, they want to make noise! Zambians should reject petty politicking,” he said.

Finally

President Banda also disclosed that he will cast his vote at Nyakutwa Basic School in Eastern Province while First Lady Thandiwe will vote at the school where she taught.

  1. Only time will tell, and at the end of that time, a winner will be announced. Prepare for shock, heart attacks and all. All what is important is the good of Zed!

  2. Fantastic Mr. President. I like that this election is issue based because the battle is between President Banda and Mr. Hichilema. The Post has been boasting about the mammoth rallies of Mr. Sata in Kabwe when Mr. Hichilema’s rally was twice the size of Mr. Sata’s in Kabwe.

PF is a non factor in this election. People cannot be lied to with abracadabra 90 day utopia day in day out. This is why people are concentrating on issues. Mr. President, in this election MMD is winning with a landslide. Mr. Hichilema will come second with Mr. Sata receiving his forth rejection at the ballot. MMD….NAFUTI NAFUTI.

  3. Even the Romans fell. Even Goliath was felled by David.

Good will prevail in Zambia and it will not be through Rupiah Banda.

    • david had the kingdom of heaven behind him, no man wil bring good will to zambia but God and that could be through any man. could be sata or rb or hh….we dnt knw. trust in man is vain, i pressume you are a God fearing person, you should understand. no man is invicible, no plan is full proof. may God bless you my sister.

  4. What a statement from a President who is suspected to be a foreigner? He asks you Zambians if it does matter him being a foreigner. He just insulted the all nation that you Zambians are foolish and he will remain your President whether he is a foreigner or not. After all he has he fellow Malawian to take care of you.

To me it does matter. MMD cadres, tell that dolt, numb-skull that, YES IT DOES MATTER in Zambia. Only fools in MMD cannot see that it does matter.

  5. June 1st – July, August, Sept, october, November, December tick tok tick tok – no election date still , just big talk.

  6. This guy is so ignorant. How does he make such a statement about the LCC on the issue of Lilayi land when he has not read the report? Is this guy normal? What if the report is as useless as he is? If a president can do that, what does one expect from his cadres and the judiciary? This is the stupidest statement to come from a leader in the history of prejudiced leadership.

  7. He urged youths to participate in the country’s development.

HOW? With utuntemba? By singing for him at airports?

“Young Zambians should have confidence in themselves.”

HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT MANNA WILL FALL? You can only have confidence when you see jobs being created and you are being called for interviews.

“Zambia’s position as one of the fastest growing economies means more quality jobs will be available,” he said.

WHEN? Next millennium? He should give sectors that are hiring since he has records and reports. Oooh, sorry he does not read reports before he comments. The last time I checked, KCM was reducing manpower. So, who is hiring?

  8. Mr. icon of corruption Banda just prepare for your exit for we are surely shelving you to the archives of Zambia’s presidents. You will be given a medal for being THE MOST CORRUPT PRESIDENT.
Steal enough money for hiring lawyers because we are not joking about regime change.
Dont say you were not told.

  9. This reminds what Defense Minister, Kalombo Mwansa, said over the arms deal that RB owes Zambians no explanation. Now from the horse’s mouth, that it DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER ONE OF HIS PARENTS IS A FOREIGNER OR NOT, just because he has held other positions before.
Zambians, let us show him that it matters to us in the ballot box, and that we the people are the ones in charge of our country.

How many times are we going to be insulted by politicians who refuse to be accountable to the electorate? This is very sad.

  10. Government fails to create employment thru revamping NCZ which only need less than Usd10M to start producing amonium nitrate to sell kuma mines for explosives but choose to give mobile hospitals additional K21billion operations money sure, does it make sense?Youths to be involved in national development when one to access CEEC funds, you have to be a cadre or good standing with the MMD party?that wont work and we all cant be bootlickers

  11. MMD today MMD tomorrow MMD ruling beyond 2011 for the Greater Good while regional parties led by tribal warlord, gays, homosexuals, lesbians, lunatics, secessionists, anti development the antichrist satanists waffle in covulsions of their heart attacks.

    Bravo your Excellency!

  12. “Mobile hospitals cannot reach areas where the roads are bad. That is why we are in a hurry to work on the roads,” he said.
One would think the logical thing to do is to repair the roads first then roll out the Mobile Hospital! more over the roads rehabilitation project that he launched recently on the copperbelt and in Lusaka are not in rural areas where the hospitals have been deployed.Unless i missed out on the rural roads development project launch in all the Districts where these hospitals are

  13. # 13, Veteran, didn’t you hear kids shouting at you ati, ishilu, ishilu, ishilu mwebantu, ishilu. Lyaisa ala lyaisa. You will hear what it is going to say. And for sure, you did.

  14. LCC ‘s alleged land allocation scandal. How about your arms deal? NAPSA? While the constitution states that at independence everyone became Zambian, but to qualify as a presidential candidate your parents must have been born in Zambia. Therefore, the issue is not whether your parents were Zambians but were they born here or Zimbabwe? You have failed to address that. You always trivialise serious matters believing people bringing up these matters are just starving & looking for help from you….Really? Please Be more forthcoming and pragmatic when addressing serious issues

  15. Ok,all these project will be done in this year mr president? Road, mobile hospitals, colleges,Houses and other infrastructure, jobs also will be created and so on…………..Mmmmmmmmmm……….Okkkkkkkkk…

  16. The 90-Days Development strategy works – the only difference: Sata wants to initiate such development in the first days of his rule so that he can monitor their implementation while RB is initiating the developments in the last days of his rule so that he can be re-elected.

  17. It will be more tragic if MMD WINS THIS YEAR’S Elections. We will go back to one party state and more vigilantes on the streets, markets and bus stations

  18. Wapya mune. Kalos2121 you are totally bush—–t. you are useless in the eyes of God. RB is not you class. Be respectful. If you can not beat him, then challenge him. Before 1964, did we have ZAMBIA? The answer is NO. We had nyasaland, northern and southern Rhodesia. Revise your social studies. Ba PF kaponyamwanya. NAFUTI NAFUTI, RB for life.

  19. # 13. We need food on the table first. Those things you are blowing “Homosexual bla…bla..bla…” do not feed us and its just up to an individual and depends on how one has been brought up.We dont want to be hearing trivial issues bt we need serious issues to develop this country.Who can u cheat that all these projects will be done this yr?we zambian people have been cheated for so long and we have believed now its time to realise that.

  20. Only time will tell. God will never forsake his children because he knows what is best for this country.
We will be wait patiently and see the punishment of the wicked people.

  21. BA Cadre ba Mwisho, just answer the question. Is your president a Zambian by birth or naturalization? If neither, what is he? Please check one

    Zambian by Naturalization
    Zambian by Birth
    Zambian by Decent

Banda fails all three. What is he?

Yes, I am not in his class. He is an illegal, I am a Zambian by Birth and Decent. Where did you see they give respect to illegals? That is like giving a criminal respect. It wont happen bwana!

  22. Moses Katumbi and Katebe Katoto came to Zambia, made their money and left with the loot, what did we do nothing, can a Zambian go to Congo and setup the same business,i doubt, coz the Congolese always look out for each other.Chiluba with his questionable background came and dribbled us,still dribbling us,what do we do nothing.Katondo st is full of Congolese crooks,Comesa, full of Zimbabweans,Tanzanians,Soweto Market, infested with Chinese. Can anyone go to Zimbabwe and set up a Ntemba or Joburg and setup ka Ntemba as these foreigners do,not a chance. Here we have yet a person who cant even explain his parentage for him to qualify for presidency, what do we do,sit quietly.Anyone can come to Zambia quietly,do whatever they want and leave

  23. It is important for Zambians to come to an agreement and an understanding of what development means before politicians mislead them. There is a difference between service delivery and development. Service delivery is a result of managing tax payers money well and providing and maintaining the basic services that the citizens need such as roads, education, health facilities, clean cities towns villages etc. This is a normal practice of Govts, councils etc. While Development is related to percentage of job creation/reduction of unemployment, GDP which is based upon the population of the country and not companies, income/wealth to debt ratio etc. Zambians need to ensure the correct measures are being used to assess the development levels.

  24. It is important for Zambians to come to an agreement and an understanding of what development means before politicians mislead them. 25. Banda is a foreign going by what the constitution says, he must not take us fools. He must not trivialize important matters. He was not even born in Zambia but Gwanda – a place where the population is still Malawians- in Bulawayo in Zimbabwe from parents with a questionable back ground. Mind you the only people that are known – at least the bulk of the of people who trekked to work in Zimbabwe are people from Nyasaland. Even now they are still in Zimbabwe.

    • You have your history facts twisted there mune! Bulawayo is also full of Zambians, I still have family there and they are currently facing problems getting Zim passports. Don’t let your hatred for RB blind you. What if those who are anti Sata also start saying that he is Zondwa from the North of Nakonde?

    • During colonial the three Rhodesia and Nyasaland weeeeas colonised by the British people use to travel freely in and out of these countries as immigrant workers In Zambia a lot of Zimbabwens are in Mumbwa they are Zambians by naturalization Banda’s parents are zambians from chiparamba in eastern province who migrated to Rhodesia to work.

  26. Iwe chi RB just answer the question were your parents Zambian?? Out of all you have said you still havent answered the question. When Barack Obama was grilled about his birth he produced a birth certificate to shame his doubters. So, RB shame us. Coz this statement above ulebwata bwata fye chimudala iwe.

  27. The answer was good, “It’s not true that my parents were foreigners”. He only spoiled it with the phrase that followed. Talk about shooting one’s self in the foot! At least he answered. Sata would have countered with a question :-) hahahahahahaha.

  28. Wat i ve come to know about zambians, u r gud at talking and no action. Its like u enjoy foreigners ruling u. 1st it was KK, 2nd was shorty chiluba & 3rd is shrek RB- 4th it wil be a chinese. Be serious with yo country guys. Its time 4 zambians to rule this country.

  29. If somebody says does it matter whether I was born here or not? So long at independence I was around am a Zambian, is George Kunda really a lawyer or Liar? It appears when one is on helm they even stop thinking and advisers just stop advising and thinking hoping people will just blink at nonsense. At the rate we are going we will have a Chinese as president in Zambia.

  30. RB’s parents are from Chiparamba in Chipata, his father origin is Chief Mishoro and the mother from Chief Chikuwe. Chief Mishoro is a Ngoni Chief under Chief Mpezeni and Chief Chikuwe is a Chewa chief under Paramount chief Undi. Its an inisult to label these Chiefs as foreigners because all the subjects under these chiefdoms are PURE ZAMBIANS. Stop this nonsense.

    • walasa zamanga and we use to call his mother ambuya a Regina am from Chikuwe kasosa v muzukulu wa Nyir……..

  31. The man is really ignorant to ask whether it really matters – simply shows how ill informed about what a constitution really means, seems Kunda is doing very well misinforming the guy. The CJ needs to look into this matter seriously – only those that have violated the constitution WILL RUN SCARED!!

How can you start talking about not losing an election you haven’t even called, announce it so that we can all get on with it!!

  32. Presidents speech: well spoken with both positives and negatives. sad that pipo only enjoy commenting on negatives. At the end of the day its only JESUS who can rule acordingly in terms of rule of law.
Sata and Chiluba were a mess at the helm of MMD for over 15 yrs. we all know sata’s leadership style of shuting up others. We have also ssen RB’s style of give and take wen the crunch comes then go to sleep. The former is terible while the latter has work around options. HH is a rather an untested leader. If PF does not come up with another president at their June11 convention, it’s beta we go for RB or HH.

  33. It would be interesting to read the Post’s edition for the same story. There the man mentions his parents’ villages/chiefdoms. But there is still that nagging odd question ‘does it matter?’.

  34. THIS SHOULD TEACH US ZAMBIANS A LESSON ONCE & FOR ALL. WE SHOULD NOT VOTE FOR/ ALLOW ANYONE SEEMINGLY APPOINTED RATHER ANNOINTED by their predecessor. WE SHALL FOREVER BE A LAUGHINGSTOCK for having FOREIGNERS RULING US!! We let ka heftyJ do the same & we let him off, Mwanawasa did he same, this is the reason MMD should be stopped, they got us into this mess by shambolically adopting this guy as presido – so it isn’t just RB we want out, but a party that betrayed Zambia & gave us a foreigner for president!!!

  35. Every election yr, issue of zambian or not zambian for candidates contesting the presidency comes up. Banda was Elected president in 2008 wen Milton Tembo was in MMD. If this Milton is a true Zambian who loves and respects laws he would have come up with such acusation in 2008 not now. No wonder the president played it mildly but I surely know he can prove his nationality just like others proved it wen they was acused of being foreigners; sata – Tanzanian, Chiluba – Cogole, Mwanawasa – Mozambiqan and Kaunda – Malawian. Why not stop it if we have failed to come up with cases against the past presidents. Let us jst change the law coz if a brion or american comes along as our presido we are all happy

  36. He is panicking and just waffling about, at this rate, with his advanced age and dementia he will soon be a mental patient.

  37. Ewe chi mr capitalist @
Keep dreaming in tonga HH has no chance of even number 3 all you from tonga people’s party can vote for him, the rest of Zambia will vote for RB or SATA political parties that embrace all tribes, it’s RB back to plot 1 for sure! Hon Sata number 2, then PF should put someone young to contest the next election because MMD is gone after RB, that’s statistics done. Even the great kK had to go after all

  38. Ewe chi mr capitalist @

One Zambia one nation & that Leader Hon RB

  39. How can this man compare the office of republican president to that of NAMBOARD general manager! Any F***ing person could be appointed general manager for a parastatal in those days mr President. The issue of nationality is a very serious one for that office.

  40. Good afternoon

Quote: “I have boosted development and in the next five years, the country will be different,” Words of ability and dedication or mere presumptious talk? At least he admits that Zambia is still a long way off in terms of development.
We have been reading so much about investments and projects being launched around the country but meaningful development should also take in consideration the needs of the people. If their health services, nutrition and social welfare start getting better, then we will be looking at a different Zambia. It will be interesting to see what really happens after this year’s presidential elections.

  41. There is no doubt that Sata’s parentage is not Zambian. Why are PF Kaponyas talking highly of HE RBB when they know very well that the leader is more of Tanzanian than Zambian. Sata even confirmed at one of his rallies that he came to his former school along Isoka Nakonde Road to ask for votes. Where was Sata’s both parents born? Do not throw stones when you live in a glass house.

  42. Who ever wrote that statement for Nyama soya should not be in office this morning, its as shallow as nothing i have ever read before in my life. The poor man is being assisted by drunks that come to work with sore heads, how someone signed off that piece of crap to be pasted on the internet, print media etc is beyond me. RB together with his army of comedians have to go this year we cant put up with this kind of nonsense anymore.

  43. # 42 Miss, stop being a vindictive b1tch! MCSs’ father was Langford Sata, Head man Chitulika and if you are doubting his mother is from Chief Luchembes’ village. Some of us are extremely conscious of avoiding to accuse others when we have no facts. RBishs’ fellow easterner Milton Phiri former ambassador to Malawi is the one who has accused RBish of lying under oath in his nomination papers by swearing that his parents were both born in Zambia. About the press conference and his mandevu rally; Rbish surely is panicking. How else surely, would one describe the president refering to his illegal nomination as a none issue or promising to give the people of Mandevu who have no tap water solar geysers? Rbish flew about like a mindless bird and now he is in a quandry! VIVA MCS, man of ACTION!

  44.   # 42 miss i agree wth u ! Kaponyas, lesbians and homos there u r. your myopic leader Satan is a Tanzanian and stop accusing our sustainable development thinker leader his HE RB of coming from Malawi after all we have Bandas, phiris in Malawi so are other names in Congo,Namibia too many to mention. This accusation ll add no value to decampaign RB,he is winning with a landslide victory ever witnessed on Zambian soil. your sata has a  Malaise in development thinking and knows nothing about basic economics of a nation,no wonder he ll never b president..actually HH is better than him..let me tell u kaponyaz homos and lesbians that we have already calculated the risk factors in this yrs Election n RB ll continue till 2016,,RB nafuti nafuti.

  45. Pursuing another term at that age? I am suprised. All this talk is empty and crap. We should have seen this zeal from day 1. I really hate to see these old african presidents because they make themselves dictators with time and that there is no improvement of life to the common man.

  46. PF cadres should provide alternative growth strategies for the Zambian economy, instead of denigrating and attacking President Banda because of his age. It is clear that MMD is winning this election with a landslide victory. It cannot be disputed that the last 3 years have seen unprecedented levels of foreign direct investment in our beautiful country. But it is disappointing that Sata and the Mmembe, who effectively are certifiable corporate mercenaries, are willing to act as African masks and alibis for people desperate to destroy the peace Zambia has enjoyed for 45 years. Mmembe’s media manipulators love big stories they can hype, twist and misrepresent to attract large audiences, unaware they’re getting managed news, not truth. Mmembe has failed to give an apology for “spin”.

  47. This issue of parentage has always come for all our presidents. Zambians must know if you sat in class and read that most of the tribes came to Zambia as immigrants. So most of us have our roots in other countries like Zaire and Tanzania for most bembas. So this rubbish of parentage just goes to show the number of *****s this country has and it will not develop zambia at all. After all most of the development include the medium you are using to show your limitations upstairs are foriegn inventions. Bye the way there is a list of all those who will be presidents of Zambia and some names are not on that list. that list is found with God. I f you dont know God dont complain when the office of the president is filled according to his will.

  48. Can anyone surely Sata for presidency- such a tribal begot and corrupt dictator? Wait until he collapses when the results are finally announced in favor of RB. This time he should not be taken to South Africa for treatment. Are there no other candidates where Sata comes from? There must be lack of leadership wherever he hails from. Surely how do you sponsor such a rot! If this is the quality that comes from Matero university, then i wont take my child there. Don’t support any rot just because he comes from your tribe. Zambia is lagging behind because of such mental dwarfs.

  49. # 52 & 53 ur foreign fools, let us zambians decide who shud go to plot 1. Go back to yo country, u ve stolen enough u foreign monkeys..

  50. RB will win with a very big margin this time because of his good governance. He will temporarily leave plot 1 for thorough cleaning then get back with a smile. Let that day come. We shall propose that more horses are added for escort back to state house for his excellence RB after announcing his winning battle. Viva RB viva MMD

  51. RB TO SAY THE TRUTH,U ARE VERY DULL,DO U THINK B4 OPENING YR MOUTH.U RE SUCH A EMBARRASSING PRESID ZAMBIA HAS EVER HAD.AND WE CAN LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN.THE ISSUES U RE TALKING ABOUT ARE VERY USELESS.EVERYTIME U ARE BORROWIN CASH,AND YET MINES ARE OPERATING ALMOST ON TAX FREE.ALL THE THING U HAV SAID ARE OPPOSITES OF THE REALITY.STOP FANTASIZING NATIONAL ISSUE THAT CONCERNS THE LIFE OF PEOPLE.U ARE BUSY TALKING ABOUT BRICKED HOUSE IN VILLAGES,AND IRON SHEET,DO U EVEN KNOW WHERE THEY BUY THOZ SHEETS?THOS SHEETS U SAW ARE AS A RESULT OF THEIR HARDWORKIN,AND IT’s NOT BECAUSE OF YOUR FAKE DEVELOPMENT.YOUR DEVELOPMENT IS LEGALIZING CORRUPTION COZ THATS WHAT U ARE,THATS WHAT YOUR GOVEN-T IS GOOD AT,U STINK CORRUPTION,STOP BUSHITING PIPO.ITS TIME TO GO,U HAVE FAILED US RB.

  52. People are forgetting that Zambia is a white man’s creation so there is nothing sacrosanct about it. I dont care if any of the presidential aspirants are from any African country – after all we are all brothers and sisters. Would rather be ruled by a Malawian than a former colonialist such as Guy Scott. Any Zambian who is not Lenje or Soli can be accused of originally being from a neighbouring country as the bazungus drew the national borders arbitrarily. The opposition must be running out of ideas to use this old chestnut which was also used against KK during the excesses of the Chiluba regime which Satanzania was a very vocal and violent part of.

  53. #54 If that is the kind of xenophobia of the average pf supporter – God help us in this globalised age, especially given the fact that we are a land-locked country that depends on our good African neighbours for our economic survival!

  54. “I will fight hard to win because if the MMD does not win, from what we have been hearing, it will be tragic because some people are surprised that in three years – I have boosted development “-YEA WATCH OUT U WILL BE DEALT WITH BECAUSE OF YOUR CORRUPT PRACTICES.
“Mobile hospitals cannot reach areas where the roads are bad. That is why we are in a hurry to work on the roads,” he said.THIS IS MADNESS,SO U NEW THAT THE MOBILE HOSPITALS WOULD NOT OPERATE PROPERY COZ OF POOR ROADS.ITS GOOD TO ANALYSE THINGS B4 DOING THEM.THOSE MOBILES HAVE MORE DISADVANTAGES THAN ADVANTAGES,AS PRESIDENT YOU SHOULD HAVE WEIGHED BOTH SIDES,SEE WHICH ONE IS GUD.NOW U AR RUSHING BUILDIN ROADS.BE SMART RB.ITS A DEADLY RISK 4 ZAMBIA TO  GIVING YOU VOTE.GETTIN CAUGHT UP IN YOUR OWN WEB OF MESS.

  55. Zambians should not worry. Kaponyaz don’t vote because they are not registered voters. The few that do register can’t even read or write…the majority of the spoilt ballots are from this group. The sane minded are quiet, waiting for the moment to cast their vote…..and the result?…nafuti nafuti….

  56. The level of cheap talk on this blog tells it all.RB is President of Zambia.he has given his case for being re-elected.and appears to be sincere as far as i am concerned.Mr.Sata who is an opposition leader has to give his side to be elected.but if you read his statements, you should be intelligent enough to see who is sincere..and that is who i would vote for.manipulations and half truths willl not help Zambia.you cannot develop Zambia in 90 days segiments

  57. If Pa Fwaka wins, you can be rest assured…the era of pangas will have began. Zambians had a ka dyonko from the Nakawala and Kadobi era. Let us be carefull.

  58. Today PF members can stand and talk about corruption and yet when Ka fupi was in hot soup from ba Mudala, he sided with Satan. Didn’t Satan say it openly on ZTV that Kafupi was innocent, that he had not stolen anything? Now you turn arround and say the opposite? It is this incosistency that I am sceptical about, you say one thing today and tomorow a complete turn arround and Kaponyaz continue the cheering. You Kaponyaz, you went to the airport to wellcome Kafupi from South Africa when the heat from ba Mudala was on….hahaahaaaaaahhaaa

  59. Who cares whether RB is a foreigner or not! RB is a good leader and very hard working. Cheap accusations for the benefit of finding your luck into Plot 1 will not work. We have not forgotten Kadobi era of Pangas and we cannot make a mistake!

  60. Kalos2121
Hey, my man? What has happened? You were once a sensible debater but now you have backslidden to just angry retorts. Deal with the issues at hand. Point out what has worsened in Zambia since RB took over. Point out what couls have been done with a K1.6 trillion budget. In 1991, Zambia’s GDP was between $2 to 3 billion. ZCCM copper output was 250,000 tonnes per year and employing 30,000 directly and another 10,000 indirectly. Inflation was at 100% and national debt was $7 billion. Now it is 20 years later, tell us what has become worse.

  61. Magande questions Rupiah’s projects
By Patson Chilemba in The Post
    Thu 02 June 2011, 04:01
Now, the opposition are getting jittery. Magande is asking where the President has got the money from. RB has found money to give to the people in terms of good roads and free solar water boilers in 1000 days and yet he does not question Michael Sata who promises to do this in 90 days! Who is more plausible here? Well, logic is not a Zambian politician’s forte, and not especially one who was director of budget in 1986 when Zambia’s economy hit the nadir!

  62. # 69, The Saints, at the moment your president angered me because of his foolish statement and at the moment, numbers do not matter to me just as like it does not matter to him about citizenship for Presidency. His statements are so foolish and he makes me feel like I want to puke. How do you want me to make sense while all of you MMD cadres do not make sense in anything you vomit? Look at the foolishness of Capitalist and Veteran/Senior Citizen. If I have to make you understand, I have to lower myself to your toddler levels and speak like a you toddlers MMD cadres.

  63. these are lont-term projects which can not be achieved in less than 5 months. so what time does he to see to it that there are implemented? ba RB announce the election date pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese! we are not interested in your statements.

  64. that is what i like about this president. he is human, doesn’t pretend to be a magician but uses his brains and his team. his “counterpart” has all the solutions in 90 days, which amounts to cheating and is actually the worst form of corruption, it is the same as attempted theft and when carried out it becomes theft. in the unlikely event that pf got into power on the back of such lies, they would not last 90 days before the people of zambia realise that they have made a mistake and do an egypt and, for good measure, a mubarak on mr sata. for those who don’t know, mubarak is due for trial as soon as he recovers from his heart attack, rings a bell doesn’t it?

  65. # 73, sounds like you are now defeated. Now you have started planning for riots before Sata even gets into office? Awe mune, in fair game this time. Actually the first development in the first 90 days is lock up all those that have participated in corruption and the foolish judges that have facilitated judicial corruption. FTJ’s heart will then be mended in Chawama Hospital. Banda’s (Gbagbo) knee will be dealt with in a mobile hospital. I cannot say much about Kunda. He will be at the new hospital he promised people in Serenje being seen by fellow prisoner Murder suspect killer doctor Musonda.

  66. For the PF and Sata, this election is a matter of life and death. If Sata loses this time, he will be finished and would be just a joke in 2016 when there will be younger candidates. Without the force of Sata PF will die. In a way I feel for and sympathise with PF followers who believe and depend on just one man.

  67. Kalos2121
The Post has reported the President’s exact words: “It’s not very nice kind of politics; first of all, it doesn’t even matter even if they my parents were not Zambian, if according to the Constitution I am allowed to stand, even if both my mother and father were not Zambians, it’s okay. How many of you here your mothers come from here and your fathers come from Congo, from Malawi? It doesn’t matter. It’s not true in my case,” President Banda said.

  68. LT your unprofessional and propaganda stories are becoming not worth of an analyst’s comment. We are sick and tired of your masters’ fake stories however twisted. Its becoming so boring and cheap, anywhere thats how your masters are behaving-fattening the cow before slaughter. We have made up our minds, its kuyabeebele unomwaka! Your are so open biased even to grade two. People are forced to see development not to feel it. Amenso tayalya, we want food on the table! Next time go for real staff not machacha! I rest my case!

  69. # 76, The Saints, what you just posted even makes it worse. That he is even now putting his little feet in his mouth. We have had foreigners, they are gracious to our nation. RB and William Banda are not. He has been insulting people of Zambia every day and night. He started in Kasama calling Bembas saying mwaviona ifyo fisilu. How can a normal person do that? Then he insulted Sata that he scares children. Now he will see what being a foreigner means when one is not gracious to the hosts.

In fact what I read in the statements he made is that he made a case for him never to hold an public office. Oh, he will hold one. Prisoner # 2. FTJ takes # 1.

  70. listen to this,“This is the worst type of corruption, where you allocate yourselves land that is supposed to be for all Zambians just because you are a councillor.,” well unless you are still in the MMD and sings the RB slogan then it will not be corruption.

  71. It’s really puzzling that after 47 years of independence ,Zambians can blame Rupiah Banda who has just been president for three years.Zambia’s woes did not start with Mr . Banda or the late Mwanawasa(M.H.S.R.I.P).IT IS A RESULT OF BAD CHOICES WE HAVE MADE AND THE INABILITY TO HOLD OUR LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.You the learned tell me why? – Congolese are holders of new Zambian passports,A foreigner has equal chances of applying for land with a native.Who is responsible for this mess?ZAMBIANS.
Those of you with no jobs or no food on the table,Mr.Sata by the way is not your Savior.

  72. Zambians may i remind you that life is not about just making choices but making smart choices. So make the right and smart choice today.

  73. The people deserve the truth, it is in the constitution. RB should learn to tell the truth, not what if answers. What kind of leadership is this? This Zambian circus of making ‘air bubble’ projects which will burst when they are elected should not be tolerated. RB has got projects to do, every MMD MP has projects to do,where is the money coming from? Paper projects are like castles in the air, don’t believe them, the can easily burn with the lies of the people preaching them. Believe what you see in front of you, not what they promise you.

  74. @#78 Kalos2121
Take it from me. RB is NOT Malawian and neither is Sata Tanzanian. My parents grew up with Sata and also knew RB’s parents first hand. It is because he is not Malawian at all that he has said this. On the issues you have raised, you do not know RB and Sata’s history. They are political opponents now, but these two have had cousinship banta from time immemorial. They have always teased each other and when he speaks, those who hear him can gauge the context. When this is reported in print it sounds insulting. It is like two black Americans in the hood calling each othe N- It is not insult it is banter. This has gone in Zambia ever since the Ngonis were repelled by the Bembas in mid 1800s. It is The Post that has changed the culture, for known reasons!

  75. @78 Kalos2121
I am surprised that such a trivial matter can make you so angry. Could it be that you just hate the man no matter what he ever did? I have followed The Post newspaper editorials from the time that Mwanawasa was ill to today. They have had only ONE profile interview of RB when he was just appointed VP. When Mwanawasa was ill, they were upset about a decision that Hon Siliya made against Magande’s but supported by the VP. From THAT time onwards, they embarked on denouncing RB. Whatever he said, the put an anti clockwise spin on it and through editorials they wanted Magande to be MMD President. That failed, the went for Sata. I wonder who next.

  76. The Saints, I get you but you should also understand that I have been with Sata probably more than you have been with both. I have not been a fun of neither, but when you see where the country is headed, in terms of corruption, political acrimony, thievery, lies, fake developments like the foolish idea of mobile hospital, arms deal, oil deals, and failure to punish real criminals and criminals alike, then you would understand where I am coming from. Mpombo bounces a check, he faces the law, Changwe does the same exact think, she is given a hug. What nonsense is that? Mulongoti (I am not his fun) tries to exercise his democratic right, he is kicked out of MMD. How can the President’s wife be a Ghost worker? If that does not anger you, what will?

  77. @84 Kalos2121
I understand but what you have said assumes that THE President is responsible for the Judiciary and prosecution. We enacted a constitution that grants the SOLE responsibility of criminal prosecution to the DPP. The LAZ has demanded the DPP resignation because there is no one who can fire him, short of a tribunal recommending that to the President. This has not happened. Believe it or not, this President has not interfered with the Judicial process. The Judges RB appointed, like Matibini have just convicted someone who could have walked if they were in RB’s pocket. We have a whistle blowers act against corruption. As for Mobile hospitals, I have several doctor friends who are FOR them, but they have no audience to air their views. to be cont’d

    • What you have just stated here is that we have an incompetent judiciary that handles cases depending on which party one belongs to and the appointing authority is the cheerleader very incapable of doing anything about. The buck stops with who? The citizens or the President? Who is supposed to remove the DPP? His father? On the issue of Mobile hospitals, you sound like you are telling me that you are the only one who have doctor friends. Or probably you are discussing Dr Miti, most definitely he will be for them. What you have left out is that the Doctors’ Association in Zambia opposed the move. Moreover, you have forgotten that not only doctors are in medical business, but others too.

  78. You can’t build 9 hospitals in 3 years and even if you did, where do you get staff from? People have to travel long distances to get to a hospital of any decent size. I have first hand experience of this when I had to hitch hike 200 km to get my nephew who had been injured for a splenectomy operation. Unfortunately, by the time we got to the hospital he had bled beyond salvaging. I could have been to a mobile hospital in a shorter time had they been available. These hospitals were announced in the 2010 speech to Parliament although they have been rolled out this year.

    • Probably you forgot that you mentioned MOBILE. How do you know that the mobile hospital would have been in your area at that time? The argument put forward by reasonable thinking people is what you just mentioned. Mobile, which injury or disease waits for the mobile hospital to be in that area for it to occur? You are better of with a well furnished and prepared rural health center/clinic than with a moving hospital (like a moving post) that you have no control where it will anchor tomorrow. You would hear the hospital is in some area, you plan to get there the following day, before you get there, it is gone. What next? Chasing hospitals? Who has time for that? Which life waits for hospitals to visit them? So what if they were announced in 2010 speech?

  79. Dr Mwanawasa arbitrarily froze the post of VP of the MMD party. No one complained that this was undemocratic except Kavindele. Each candidate wanted a ‘public’ endorsement from the President for the post, and Mulongoti showed corruption by wanting RB to endorse him because ‘I once scratched your back, now scratch my back!’ The President refused to do that and the next thing is he goes to The Post and denounces his boss! 1. He was a nominated MP. 2. The President appointed him. Mulongoti was not in Parliament representing a constitutency of the masses. His constituent was RB. He displeased his elector so he was fired. Without being thankful for the opportunity ‘to serve the country’ he sulks like a child and behaves as though it was his birth right to be minister!

    • Thank you for stating how Mulongoti was fired. But you left out what he said that deserved him that punishment. With regards to Mwanawasa, I know you are not new on this blog. Go back few years and you will see how I criticized Levy with regards to freezing of the VP position. I was one of the few bloggers who spent time to take a look at the Mwanawasa administration closely, after having dined and wined with him several times at official levels. I asked questions about the FTJ cases until when FTJ was convicted in the London courts, which I also questioned until I was shown how our courts system works. I am not a lawyer, but educator. Again about Mulongoti, it is not that he was appointed why he lost his job, but the reasons behind it. RB’s preferred candidates were at risk.

  80. The Arms deal and Oil deal corruption is pure hearsay. We have heard such stories before. There was an anonymous publication that circulated when Mpombo was Energy Minister and Mwanawasa President, claiming that Maureen was behind the oil deals and they wanted to cripple Indeni to give way to a private supplier. You remember that Total walked out of Indeni. There is no evidence at all. Mrs Mwanawasa was accused of corruption everywhere, but after Levy died, he is now applauded as the champion against corruption. The same happened in KK’s days. Panji and Betty were owning this and that and the other and KK had $4 billion in Swiss bank. It is all kachepa.

    • Since when did you become the spokes person for RB on the arms deal? The details that Hon Mpombo gave out about the deal if not true, then we should encourage Mpombo to be the next James Hadley Chase writer. Up to date, RB and his son are still trying to find words to refute the evidence Mpombo gave. He asked you doubters to go to the Ministry of Defense and check his airline tickets. Up to now everyone is quiet. Why? With regard to the oil deals, I really don’t see where I had mentioned Maureen Mwanawasa. Don’t sway me to that. A year and half ago, RB’s son was mentioned in the deal to transport refined fuel from Kenya instead of using Indeni. The worsening of the roads in Zambia after very serious rain fall that MMD cadres celebrated because of the bungled bumper maize harvest did

    • did not just bring good maize, but destroyed our roads too. Now with Indeni not producing bitumen to help patch our roads, there we are today. leaking our sores. It will take an enormous amount of time and money to ill our roads.

  81. Lastly, Mrs Banda, the Ghost worker. This is the incompetence of ministry of education. I knew several people in the diaspora who were still drawing salaries in Zambia long after leaving their jobs and the country. I was paid a salary for 1 year without knowing when I moved from GRZ employment to private and opened a new account. The Bank rang me to tell me that there was money in my account that had not moved for 12 months! I was shocked. As a good citizen, I wrote to the Ministry of Finance and paid back every Ngwee.

    • Did she pay back in her case? The RB regime was up in arms looking for the person who leaked the information. Why?

  82. no one is perfect, all have wrongs, bt its better u bring about positive criticism and at the end of it all look at the bright side, so give Mr Banda a chance, don;t just talk for the sake of it, if u continue looking for wrongs in someone u will surely find them, but wat good will that be to u,so dwell not on finding faults..we all have issues,,,,,no one is perfect,

  83. #92, no one is looking for the wrongs in Banda. It is Banda who is projecting the wrongs on the nation. He was told not to buy mobile hospitals, all sectors of the nation said NO, NO, NO. He said to everyone, I know better than you people. I will do it. Bite me. Yes, he is being bitten. When he was told to stop those fruitless trips to go watch virgins in Swaziland showing their breast, what did he do? He even wait and took off his shirt to enjoy more. Why?

  84. There seems to be so much dust raised around RB’s reign and things seem so wrong at the moment. Things just have to change sooner than later for a better future. The same govt that appeared to be towing in one direction is now heading the other. Either Mwanawasa was wrong or these guys are.

  85. Thanks for the good writeup. It in fact used to be a enjoyment account it. Look complex to far delivered agreeable from you! By the way, how can we be in contact?
