Former Works and Supply Deputy Minister Lameck Mangani has cited his loss at the just ended MMD convention as one of the reasons for his resignation.
Mr Mangani who was vying for the position of MMD National Chairman at the convention says he felt humiliated by the way his colleagues in the party treated him.
The Chipata Central MP says that he had been consulting with several friends in the political arena over a week before he arrived at his decision to resign.
Mr Mangani told ZNBC News in Chipata on Thursday that he will soon announce his next action.
He says his decision was not born out of personal vendetta against president Rupiah Banda but was purely based on principle.
And MMD founding member Chisala Chilufya says Residents of Chipata feel betrayed by Mr Mangani’s resignation because he was considered a close friend to president Rupiah Banda.
He adds that Mr Mangani’s resignation has not shaken the party in Chipata and that the area remains an MMD stronghold.

Loosing at the national convetion can’t reason enough for one to resign. That’s what Democracy entails. He thought MMD is his fathers party such that whatever position he prefers he gets. Mangani is playing Politics of the belly, what are foremost in his mind are his bread and butter, not Principle. Planning as he himself says, to join another Party, obliterates the notion that his resignation from MMD is purely out of principle. In his own statement, explaining why he decided to resign, there is not a single inkling that his decision to resign followed a heart rending examination of his Political Philosophy and ideology, but rather purely out of frustration and humiliation. Put together a bunch of likeminded, unprincipled men, to oversee affairs of men, you have a directionless future. Mangani is hardly a man of principle but evidently a ‘Political Prostitute’. A very unprincipled politician. And what will it help Zambia, if all MMD ministers and bigwigs resign to join the PF? Is this change really? No, its not, Its a load of BULLSHIT! PF is now just an extension of MMD rejects and frustrated MMD members and opportunists. The nation must learn from principled politicians like VJ, or Sikota Wina. They may not be role models to some pipo but to others they are. They are still with MMD, whether they are sidelined or not. They are not political chancers, they are just principled. I am a Chipata resident and can tell you that the story carried out by ZANIS and reproduced by ZNBC TV is a total fabrication and pure propanda. I witnessed Mangani’s procession which started from airport through to main town, downshops, kapata upto his residence in Month. The man pulled a huge crowd and had a heroic procession. Like the man or hate him but know that he has alot of support in Chipata. His heroic procession has been making headlines on all local radio stations in Chipata since yesterday. Today he featured on live program on radio breeze and 90% of the callers showd support for him and solidarity over his decision to leave MMD.
All in all, it is upto Mangani’s decision, to be serious or not, after all he is just a typical politician, trying to survive regardless of Principle, it is his call.

The denial by the MMD reminds me of Alexandra Kamalondo (MHSRIP), who was feeing similar propaganda to what Rubbish Bin (RB), is been fed now. The fact MMD does not have any chance of winning this year, and so the desparation by Dora on the Coppebelt. Rupiah is going, the earlier you get this at the back of your minds and stomach it the better for everyone.

Taking into account that Sata has infuriated the feelings of the majority of people in Luapula Province over FTJ, the PF and The Post have resorted into another variant of dirty politics. The PF and The Post have designed a campaign of DESTABLISING THE MMD by sowing seeds of discontent to a carefully selected MMD politicians. They have tried to create a rumour that MPs for Chisamba and Kaoma were planning to resign from MMD; but this tactic has failed to work on strong-spirited men. However, Lameck Mangani is a WEAK soul who has fallen victim to PF/Post plots. Mangani should have accepted the rules of democracy when he lost a position at the MMD Convention. Whereas Mpombo and Masebo disrespected Mwanawasa & RB, Mangani and Mulongoti fell easy prey to PF’s scheme of destablising the MMD.

Anyone thinking Mangani can win the the Chipata Central seat on any opposition seat is living in dreamland. All provinces in Zambia vote on tribal and party lines. Voting for Mangani is like voting against Rupiah Banda. Maybe somewhere else it can work but not in Chipata please don’t cheat yourselves. What are Mangani’s works in the time he has been MP. He was privaledged to belong to the ruling party hence easy for him to lobby for development to his constituency and added to it he was friends with RB. Unless Mangani has done extremely well for his constituency he might as well invest his looted govt cash into planting soya beans coz if uses it for campaigns he will be eating rape from Chipata’s Saturday Market this time next year.
