THE Ministry of Health has said former president Kenneth Kaunda who should have been discharged yesterday remains admitted to a Namibian hospital.

Ministry of Health spokesperson Kamoto Mbewe said in Lusaka yesterday that according to information received yesterday from Zambian doctors who were sent to assess the condition of the former president, Dr Kaunda was still being monitored by the medical experts.

He, however, said Dr Kaunda had continued to make steady progress.

“The doctors are still monitoring Dr Kaunda who had continued to make steady progress,” Dr Mbewe said.

He said the ministry was yet to be informed about when Dr Kaunda was likely to be discharged from hospital.

  1. But why was the government using the public media to deny the story in the Post regarding KK’s hospitalization? We are now made to believe that all what has been denied by the govt was actually true. This is bad politics and extremely poor public relations on the part of the MMD govt.

  2. What waz the excitement about announcing that KK would be discharged on Thursday, 18th? Normally a doctor will not tell the date of discharge for a patient, especially one with a medical condition.
    Get well soon mudala KK.

  3. Why is the welfare of the first republian president not well articulated? We don’t need this to continue being shrouded in mystery and the truth about his condition needs to be known to the zambian people. We wish you well Dr Kaunda.

  6. Lets pray for the old man because at that age any organs can decide to give in or they may decide to take him for another 10 years. We also have the issue of low imunity that sets in after in late years and very slow body repair if ones lucky. All he need is our prayer, goodwill and support if he has time to read the press which am sure he has as he is a very well informed man.

God please keep him blessed and give him more time to help out his nation. Thanks
