Focus on issues, Chigunta advises PF

PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda’s political advisor Francis Chigunta has advised Patriotic Front (PF) campaigners to focus on issue-based campaigns and not character assassination.

Dr Chigunta said the behaviour of PF campaigners such as Father Frank Bwalya and others was uncalled for and baseless because it was not issue-based.

He said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that, the PF Campaigners had run out of ideas and had nothing to offer the people of Zambia hence resorting to campaigns of attacking the Head of State on his education background.

Dr Chigunta was reacting to Father Bwalya’s allegations that President Banda was not educated and that was why he removed the qualification of a holding a degree for a presidential candidate.

He said President Banda was a solid leader who had attained his education in Ethiopia and Cambridge and was comfortable in the company of educated assistance unlike his opposition leader who was surrounded by hooligans who had nothing to advice.

Dr Chigunta said PF leader Micheal Sata’s education background was nothing to talk about because he was not an educated person.

“I would like to condemn the behaviour of PF campaigners like Father Frank Bwalya and others who have run out of ideas and have nothing to offer the people of Zambia.

“Attacking the education of the Republican President is baseless because he is a solid leader who attended his education in Ethiopia and Cambridge,” he said.

Dr Chigunta said because of the educated team that the President was surrounded with, that was why they had come up with a developmental program known as the Seven point plan to develop the country. He said no leader had come up with something serious and issue based program like that.

Dr Chigunta advised PF campaigners to address their campaigns on issues and not personality and that even the electoral code of conduct did not permit personality attacks.

He said the people of Zambia wanted to hear what every leader would do for them and not character assassination campaigns.

And addressing a rally at Kitwe s freedom park grounds, Father Bwalya said President Banda had decided to remove the qualification of a degree holder as a qualification for any person aspiring to stand as presidential candidate because he was not a degree holder himself.

And speaking at the same rally, PF Roan constituency aspiring candidate Chishimba Kambwili urged the electorate to vote for Mr Sata in the September 20 elections.

  1. it is sata,a std 4, who fought for the non inclusion of the degree clause. Of the top3 leaders, sata is by far the LEAST educated.

  2. As much as people need development, people also need protection and better policies. How is the MMD addressing the issue of CORRUPTION? Agriculture is a very important issue in our country yet farmers are always complaining and most of them are very poor.

Sata could be a std 4 but he thinks better than the so called educated politicians. What is the use of a Phd or whatever it can be if all that you do is being corrupt supporting laws that help you to steal even more?

    • #3 Adage your statement is misleading because I dont know what you wouuld want to substitute education with. As for corruption, don’t even dare to tell us that there is no corruption in PF. For sata and membe to have accepted to work together when sate had said he would not have any dealings with the post what could have happened? Well your guess ia as good as mine. All PF run councils have their reputations tainted with corruption. Corruption must be condemned without exclusion. He who seeks equity must have their hands clean…

  3. Frank Bwalya is just a frustrated fool tarnishing the Catholic Church. This thug is not fit to be addressed as FATHER,he is a total disgrace. He always barks instead of talking. What a Priest! Why cant the church relieve this bug of the priestly duties and let him become a politician? He should not insult people on the unfounded stupid reason of speaking for the Zambians.Had he been a DECENT PRIEST,he would have been using DECENT PLATFORMS with DECENT LANGUAGE. Coming to the EDUCATIONAL ISSUE,Bwalya raised,SATA is the LEAST EDUCATED OF THE TEN(10) PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES.

  4. Whats wrong with these PF Kaponyas? they are the one who were crying for the degree requirement to be removed because Satana is a grade 5 policeman. RB is the most educated of all candidates. But PF nimatuvi chabe mwe.

    • ZNBC, Time of Zambia,  Daily Mail and  Radios 4, 1, and 2… have more coverage than the Post. Even villagers in remote villages are able to listen to  Radios 4, 1, and 2. This should tell you why MMD always wins. PF to refusal to be covered by the public media, just make MMD even more popular

  5. Towela, I am happy that you stopped reading and watching government papers and TV. But why are you telling? What value has it added to us if you stopped reading or watching.

  6. Towela, not very clever move to stop listening/watching government media because you will still find them on watchdog and Lusaka times. So come up with another plan

  7. Towela, do you read at all? What books have you read in the past year, for example? From a personal standpoint I do not only read and listen to books and media that resonates with my worldview. Rather I do so to gather information that aids that aids my decision making.

Clearly it is because your beloved party is not getting gloss coverage from these media that you have taken what I can only describe as as an immature decision. Learn to deal with bad news as well as good. C’est la vie.

  8. Chinguta fyebe fi kaponya ifi,Ka Bwalya from nower has started barking nonsense!Alo bane satana Ali zee o of a sudden ninshi kuti alepola!we Kip on telling these kabokez that satana is and they choose not to listen!too bad Na embassy park takaimyange!

  9. Chigunta is reducing himself to a cadre because he badly needs the job and fears getting back to UNZA with its low salaries that cannot sustain the body he has acquired. We hear, he now eats two shares for two persons for breakfast, lunch and supper. No wonder he cannot even walk straight and looks like he will fall backwards anytime. It is a sign of good education to be careful about what and how much you eat Dr. Francis Chigunta. He should also be the last person to talk about Fr. Bwalya being unprincipled. If Chigunta is that principled what killed his first two wives? Do not throw stones if you live in a glass house, because others are also capable to throwing stones!

  10. Ze Bige, I am sure the topic is Dr. Chigunta and not his two wives who are not around to defend themselves please. We must learn to respect the dead. These are just politics, I guess you are a fanatic of the PF, if you want to attack Chigunta please do so but do not include the dead.
