Share

New slogan "Let’s Explore Zambia" , replacing the old "Zambia the Real Africa"The Zambia Tourism Board has unveiled the new “Let’s Explore” Tourism Brand at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, United Kingdom.

Speaking at the launch event held at Excel-London, last evening, Zambia’s High Commissioner to Zambia Professor Royson Mukwena called upon the international community to embrace the new brand and spread the good news about Zambia’s unique tourism products.

Professor Mukwena said that Zambia is fast becoming a preferred destination for investment and holidays because of the peace and democracy that the country has continued to enjoy.

The High Commissioner said the recent peaceful elections in Zambia were a demonstration of Zambia’s maturing democracy and a model for Africa.

Professor Mukwena has also thanked the international community for choosing Zambia and Zimbabwe as Joint Hosts of the 2013 UNWTO General Assembly. He said the win was a sign of confidence in the two neighbouring nations’ capacity to host big events.

At the same event, Zimbabwe Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry engineer Walter Mzembi revealed that the Governments of Zimbabwe and Zambia, through their respective Presidents, had already endorsed the General Assembly.

Mr. Mzembi said the event, among other things will give Zambia and Zimbabwe who he described as twins, a chance to re-claim ownership of the Victoria Falls which he said was being hijacked by other countries.

The new brand unveiling which included a video presentation on Zambia’s major national Parks as well as Victoria Falls was conducted by ZTB Managing Director Mr. Felix Chaila and Director of Marketing, Mr. Evans Muhanga.

Among those who attended the launch were Zimbabwe Ambassador to the United Kingdom H.E. Gabriel Machinga, Sun International Marketing Director Ian Anderson, Meridian Club members, Africa Travel and Tourism Association members, RETOSA Representatives, Zambian WTM delegates, Zambian Embassy staff, the Zambian Community in the UK and Miss Zimbabwe 2011 Malaika Mashandu

Staged annually in London, the World Travel Market is the leading global event for the travel industry and attracts almost 48,000 senior travel industry professionals, Government Ministers and International Press.

The 2011 version runs from the 7th to the 11 of November at Excel Exhibition Center in London.

  1. Just clean up Lusaka and other towns and cities and tourists will come. Those worn out pavemnts in Lusaka and other towns should be rebuilt as they are destroying tourist shoes. Reduce costs of fuel, accomodation and food and tourists will come. changing a logo alone will not bring in tourists.

  2. Just to let you know, I am selling a refrigerated truck (canter), which has a cold blaster going down to -31 degrees celcius and is in excellent condition. Recently imported from Japan and everything works. Give me heads up if anybody is interested. contact: tanganyikaspecies (at) gmail dot com

  3. iwe Mozillar who are you directing to clean up the same shit that you have left behind. why dont you bend down your ass and do the cleaning yourself swine person.

  4. I bet they have gone back to their offices and put their feet up. Job done! That is all we do in Zambia. The Zambia High Commission in London website still has Dora Siliya as Honerable minister!

  5. It is competition. You have to convience me that I have to visit Zambia. Get advertising and updating websites. Even when there is nothing to talk about change it a little. People are sceptical about websites which don`t get updated.

Make sure you are high up on search engines. It costs money but you just have to do it.

  6. #1 very true. there is no magic methods to this whole thing. Once all those things are done everything else will fall into place

  7. Thanks #7. Zambia is dirty because of guys like #3 conman who don’t care about cleanness. the likes of #3conman prides in insults with no vision & they don’t care eating in the filth. We need a clean Zambia where tourists like to go. Learn from Indonesia & Thailand etc. modern day tourists first googles a nation and knows about the nation before they go there.

  8. # 9: That’s exactly what I was thinking! I hope they didn’t pay an extortionate amount of money for this piece of tuvi. I like the ‘Let’s Explore’ tagline but the design is awful! Ama labbish.

  9. We should also invest in studying the market, ie find out what tourists want then go flat out to meet their needs. Marketing campaigns are a waste if directed at the wrong people.

Also, this coupling with Zimbabwe should wake us up. Zim is a tourism power house. Went down due to Mugabe vs The West and Zambia benefited. Zim is our competitor as they have better facilities. Their rise again is a threat to us. We should make sure our partnership is a win-win situ.

All in all we need to develop our tourist potential. the High Commisioner (to Zambia?) sounded more like a cadre than a skilled promoter.

  10. The logo looks great by the way. Its simple – The sun, the Falls, Zambia and the eye catching colours. Just not so sure about “Let’s Explore”. May be “Come Explore” would be more inviting.

  11. What does it look like in Chinese? They are Sata’s new friends (the fact he hated them when he was in opposition is to be forgotten – remember politicians don’t do ‘hypocrisy’). Tourism is not just about a new logo, we need proper airports (anybody been to Ndola recently, the immigration ‘hall’ is like a cattle shed), good roads connecting key tourist centres – think Livingstone – Zimba, and we need more mid-range priced hotels. Proper tourism creates jobs, so go on Sata, you have a few days of your 90 left…

  12. The most uninspiring logo and picture this one is. Which half wit designed it and which mad man paid him to design it?

And yes, I can do better, especially without money involved. See, it comes from the heart, but you wouldn’t understand.

  13. There’s no place like home!!!! It’s very disappointing to learn of how we Zambians bitterly criticize our country once we get exposed. We forget that we too have a major role to play in the development of our beautiful nation Zambia…denting the image of our country of origin is total ignorance…what happened to patriotism? It’s a pity! You’re more proud of what other people worked so hard for. It’s unfortunate! Every country works hard to get to where it is. It never happened overnight!!!!!!!!! Let’s appreciate and learn from the places we visit and then bring ideas back home…Zambia needs to be re-branded and this is a start. Well done ZTB!
