Members of parliament from Western province have resolved to find common solutions to problems facing the province regardless of political affiliation.

This follows a meeting which was held at parliament buildings and was addressed by Western province minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu and permanent secretary Augustine Seyuba.

The parliamentarians resolved that the permanent secretary should engage all stakeholders because his office is the focal point for development.

Mr Mubukwanu told the members of parliament that government should focus on major interventions addressing the challenges of infrastructure development.

The meeting noted that the province is the least developed with high unemployment levels poor road network and limited access to clean water.

The meeting also acknowledged the role the Barotse Royal Establish plays in the administration of the province.

The 17 members of parliament who represent the Patriotic Front PF, MMD, Alliance for Democracy and Development-ADD and the United Party for National Development-UPND attended the meeting.

  1. Thats the way to go… go go PF government do something that will live to be remembered by all peace loving zambians

  2. I hope the Lozis have not fallen prey to these monkey tricks once again.! be careful with these quakes & ensure tat yr province receives a good stake of national cake else we shal not toralet any complaints of underdevelopment in yr province.

  3. Yes, negotiate development and ensure you get it: Roads, schools and health centres. Also take it easy on limiting investors coming from outside to come and invest in Western (esp. Mongu) like the way you did with Shoprite and denying the indian community from openning shops there. I propose that the agenda should not include anything to do with Barotse because the Government is handling that and every zambian is against that.

  4. kantunikako masipa#4 keep dreaming western province is part of zambia or do you want an excuse to claim asylum in that kantemba you are in

  5. The Mongu-Kalabo Road construction project in Western province revoked to divert funds to the creation of Muchinga province and construction of the K313 Billion Kwacha pedicle road government has awarded to Fratelli Locci contractors at K313 Billion Kwacha.

Though its the source of billions coming in the national treasury, PF has vowed that there is no need to ever put back money into North Western Province for the Mutanda Chavuma (M-7) road alike, No need in giving the people of Mfuwe a road before Muchinga province takes the billions planned, Mpika receives a new sugar plantation bigger than nakambala, the 2 universities and hospitals for Muchinga and Northern provinces are completed.

  6. HEMCS he is the action man, soon you will see Katunda -Mangangu -Lukulu road tarred and Luampa to Sichili/Mulobezi road tarred.Area MPs please call for proposals and action will follow. The HEMCS is person  who knows Zambia very well coz he has very rich knowledge of the country.

  7. Sata is the worst president this country will ever get. And finally his ignorance and uglieness is gona be exposed to the world now that he’s left the country for the first time. eishhhhhh!!!

  8. MPs done well. This is the way forward.

#7 Umufyashi, investors bring development. By limiting outside investors, Western Province limits its own development. I was shocked to see that Shoprite in Mongu was not allowed to trade freely like it was in other parts of Zambia. To go to Shoprite, we had to pass by a smelly abbatoir. The shop only sold goods in wholesale manner. Very backward mindset, those Mongu people have. I hope they have changed and have embraced foreign investment.

We came across a Bemba married to a Lozi woman. The man worked for Zamtel or Post office and was running a business – a shop or something. But the locals didnt want that. He planned to leave once he retired. Tribalism is one reason Western Province is underdeveloped. They dont want outsiders.

  9. Time to re-assess promises made to the province in exchange for votes. First was NW province chiefs, today Western province, next will be Southern province until all provinces take a stand on polititians who cheat in their manifestos and promises. UNIP developed the whole Zambia without exceptions, MMD left a solid development plan ecompasing the whole country. The high bar of development set by MMD is a real challenge for the incoming PFgovt to meet peoples expectations. Its with this back ground why these provincial meetings are being called to re-assess the modus operandi adopted by PF on developments of provinces with votes given to PF.

  10. “The meeting also acknowledged the role the Barotse Royal Establish plays in the administration of the province.”

What about the role that the Nkoya Royal Establishment plays in the administration of the province? Such one sided articles can only be produced by the same group that only seeks to advance their tribal agenda because it is common knowledge that the BRE is not the only Royal Establishment in the province.

These and many other reasons are the justifications of why the government of Zambia must establish Kafue Province because we can not be bundled together with individuals that only seek to advance their tribal and political greedy agendas, It is also clear that the BRE is trying to influence their political agendas on the MPs and misinforming other Zambians.

    • Wapinduku Nkoyaland,
want to imform you that the Nkoya Royal E, does not exist so if it exists there will be a Nyengo Royal E, Kwangwa Royal E, Subiya Royal E, Kwandi R.E, Totela R.E, and all the 30 something tribes that make the Lozi tribe. It doesn’t belong to individuals.Just to let you know that many MP’s who are meeting are from different tribes, totelas, subiyas, Nkoyas, Luvalez, Mbundas etc. Bwana, stop dreaming we are one.

  11. My advise to you Western Province MPs who want to meet, please discuss issues of developmental that you expect the PF government to undertake in your province. If you will spend much of your time just discussing how the Barotse Agreement will be implemented then you will just be wasting your precious time to engage the current government to develop your province. Let us put personal interests aside. It is also my province though I come from a different province.

  12. This is a good move to start with, infact the idea is from the man of God th Bishop of Barotseland who wrote to them.I’m so proud the MPs responded so positively.Take heed, mezi malomba tamana nyotwa, mwana mukowe tamana nyambo. So don’t expect aBemba or Ngoni let alone a Tonga to develop Barotseland.Barotseland is your responsibility,Tukongote wamwana’a nongolo, whether aPF,MMD,ADD orUPND,NAREP FDD,UNIP etc

  13. The President should also consider rotating the appointments of Provincial Minister and Permanent Secretary, it is not healthy for such roles to be held by individuals from the same tribe all the time as though there are no other qualified individuals from other tribes within Western Province. Fairness and equality is very important in a democratic country like Zambia.

  14. There is no issue that the MPs will disxcuss which will ever succeed in western province if the barotseland agtreement is not restold. nathenal knows this and all the MPS knows this. The BRE is the legal local government in barotseland and zambian acts of parliament that rendered them irrelevzant is what has caused problems. barotseland was the most developed and advanced in educatiopn before GRZ greedily abrogated the barotseland agreement. and nathanel must not forget that he is MP today because his party promised us the barotse agreement. if they do not honor it, then him and PF will go faster than they came. and we are reqady to do that as of yestarday. give us a break blogers, its not underdevelopment that is a problem in western province. the problem is the abrogattionof the BA64

  15. Hey, way to go my Lozi friends. Take the bull by its horns and stop expecting anything good from these people. You surely dont expect that a person of Sata’s callibre can develop WP ahead of Mchinga Province. You will see Mchinga will develop even faster than Choma as SP HQ. Anyway what would one expect out of these people who are just full of themselves. God have mercy.

  16. It is very unfortunate that some pipo think that Chipimo is better than Milupi.2016 will be a year for Milupi whether Bembas want it or not. What has Chipimo done to deserve publicist.Western province will vote for Milupi or HH.Win or no win this Lizis have learnt a lesson. You cant talk of One Zambia One Nation when you can see the inequality in development and appointments.Pipo who say that Lozis are tribal are hopeless.Bembas are the ones buying fish and rice there.Bembas and Lozis are marrying each other every day.But look the way Dr situmbeko is being mistreated. You cant compare Situmbeko and Lubinda.Situmbeko is really a Lozi who deserve respect.Mr Bukukwanu shud not cheat himself that he will retain the seat in 2016.He shud thank RB for the shooting incident in Mongu otherwise he

  17. would have lost terribly.Mongu-Kalabo road was not in the Budget for 2011.This was an agreement between China and Zambia in 2006 to reconstruct the road by the late Pres Mwanawasa. The former President Banda to gether with Musokotwane went to China to complete the deal.Kaunda did the same for the construction of TAZARA.TuTa road and Lusaka -mongu road. These are big projects which need bilaterial agreements.Chanese have already brought the bridges please let them finish it.
