Mwense District Commissioner Henry M’gomba says Wild Dogs have terrorized villages in Chieftainess Mwenda and Chief Mutipula’s chiefdoms respectively.

ZANIS reports from Mwense, today, that six villages in the said chiefdoms have been invaded by the wild animals who are threatening lives in the areas.

The District Commissioner Henry Mun’gomba who confirmed the development in an interview, today, said the wild dogs in fact attacked a 13 year old boy, Evans Chabala of Chikumbi Village who later died of suspected rabies.

Mr Mun’gomba said the wild dogs later attacked 21 year old Paul Katai aged 21 and left him for dead.

Villagers of Ntondo Village managed to kill one wild dog after it bit an Assistant Fisheries Officer James Mubamba.

He said in Chieftainess Mwenda’s area, seven cases were reported from Chulu-Luongo Village, two cases from Chipowe Village and a case from Ntondo, and another from Petrol villages.

” However, some villagers managed to kill one of the wild dogs at Ntondo Village . Its head is being preserved for further investigations and examinations for the presence of rabies by the veterinary department in Lusaka, ” he said.

The wild dogs also attacked some vengeful domesticated dogs that tried to challenge them and the latter are now showing signs of rabies.

Farming activities in the area have been tampered with as the farming community are fearing for their lives.

The matter has since reported the to the Zambia Wild Authority officials in Mansa to bring the situation in the affected areas under control.

  1. Arguably, Zambian journalists have the worst English language skills in all of subsaharan Africa – poor grammar, garbled thought process, repetitions, etc.

    • wat is important is yu getting the massege.becoz for yu to spot the mistakes means yu know wat the story is all about dont waste time on small issues.get the contents aftter all yo eglish is equally poor.

    • actually u *****, u are wrong.
first of all, this is lusakatimes, hardly any educated journalists here. Zambia has been known to proiduce some of africa’s finest journalists as a matter of fact. do ur research you *****.

  2. The authorities should relocate these creatures. They are some of Zambia’s rarest animals. It would be a joy to see them.

  3. Imwe ba No 1., Please don’t force Zambians to learn how to speak ‘foreign languages’ just because you yourself know how to speak it better (perhaps better than the english themseves). I live in England myself and have done so the last 15 years. I have come across millions of other nationalities (Indians and Pakistanis included) who won’t utter a word in English and don’t care. The British theselves don’t even mind at all. Other countries are now changing their educational carricum and are urging their children to learn amongst others; Chinese, Italian, German etc. Manje you, especially imwe who claim to be educated are behaving as if the “english lingo” trailed your ambilical cord from your mother’s womb, atase…

    • Wa bohila…toooooooooooo much…but you indeed have point…one way or the other, we have to communicate…and communicate properly…not you yourself!

  4. and we have chinese guys in our midst as carpenters, drivers, plumbers, etc. just show them the road to mansa and let them do the rest. afterall they are investors.

  5. I urge ALL those affected by these so-called Wild Dogs to work together; capture these animals, kill them and dry them as “Dingi”, later enjoy the meat after all, nilesa watupele…

  6. @#3, Mwape Mbokeme

I apologize if my comment upset you. I was talking specifically about journalists, not the Zambian people in general or any other people in the world. I am sure, whatever you are doing in England, you have made your best effort to be an expert in your profession. A journalist is training to be a wordsmith and write with clarity. I suppose if I have problem comprehending the report, I have the option not to read it. Thanks for your comment, nonetheless.

  7. The dogs are infested with the rabies virus and some idi=ot #6 is only thinking of eating them??? First you write terrible English, them you want to eat dogs?

  8. Ba LT mwila tusebania; what in the world do you mean by “Wild dogs EVADE Mwense”!? Is “Mwense” some amature hunter going after these dogs!? Come on now!!!!!

  9. Number one, please have mercy. This is more of a blog than a full fledged newspaper. Don’t think all the articles are written by qualified journalists. At least they are trying their best to bring us the news. I would advise that they get a full time professional editor.

  10. “…invaded by the wild animals WHO are ….”. I thought “WHO” is only used when refering to person/people, kanshi ilabomba na ku mbwa.!!!!!!!!!!

    #3,ba Mwape Mbokeme
Lekeni ubufi naimwe tata/mayo, how can a zambian speak better english than a native speaker? Even if u stayed in England for 50yrs, english will ALWYS be ur foregn (second) language and u can NEVER speak better language than a native.
A muzungu can live in Zambia the whole of his life, but he will never speak better cibemba than u, obviously.

  11. The problem is too much poaching. Most definitely the food (game) for these wilddogs has been poached by Luapula humans. There is no more food in the park. Now the dogs are turning on the poachers as their new source of nourishment. Mwanya abena Luapula ….you have stu.pidly integrated yourselves into the food chain of wild animals. Prepare to be eaten.

  12. There is no proof that these wild dogs are infested with rabies. What we need is a well, researched opinion on what has caused these animals to abandon their habitat. The absence of a knowledged opinion on this topic among the Listers clearly points out that we do not professionals in our midst. These animals are endangered species and require to be managed and not killed. Zambia can earn alot of money if these animals were captured and safely relocated to a safe zone for tourists and future generations to benefit.

  13. Mwape Mbomeme #3 you have missed the point. If you learn civil works you are not going to excuse a falling house you have put up by saying there are many homes built by civil engineers in Europe that are falling! Neither will you resort to distributing tents because everyone else is resorting to tent houses! We are talking about a trade here that has a huge influence, especially over the gullible who believe or try to understand what a journalist churns out. I am sure for every one like Kapizga who point out this there are 10 others who don’t even make the effort to go through the first paragraph from disgust!

  14. but you people can argue…..the language is not the point….what is important is the news;argue positively and give guidance to the reporters.condenm them if they dont heed your advice.

  15. See them hunting in the wild? Good co-ordination. They can bring down a big animal by tiring it while getting chunks of meat as it moves

  16. iwe #25 i dont think yu are sane.honestly can yu wish yo friends to be killed and eaten by these animals.God bless yu for wishing yo friends bad.

  17. I very much concur with Mwape (#3). I live in England too and have come across many British people who can not even write a paragraph in English Language -their own language to acceptable standards but they do not give it a damn. But pa Zambia, if you can not write or speak this foreign language called English, properly, nishi lwanya- ati taishiba ichisungu-ATASE!!. It is because of this same metality that you treat the whites like gods pa Z, when ba chabe chabe fye. Even those with mere craft certificates, when they come to that part of the world, you give them very big managerial jobs-kwena mwalibachindika abasungu pa Z-too much infeliolity complex.

  18. #27, Johnnie Bitoto,

The author of the comment at #1 has clarified that he was not talking about the general public, but those whose trade is to write. Learn to comprehend what you read.

Why do people who socialize with illiterate whites and indians etc, in England, think that is something to boast about. It is gheto and an inferioty complex.

  19. Easterners, your dogs have crossed even to Luapula!! Imwemwe bantu don’t disturb innocent fishermen!
