Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Given Lubinda says government will support global efforts towards finding a peaceful resolution to the crisis in the Middle East.

Mr. Lubinda says his government is dismayed by the ongoing political unrests in the Middle East which have resulted in the killings of a number of innocent civilians.

He says the political instability in the Middle East has adverse effects within and beyond the region adding that there is urgent need for a political solution to the crisis.

And Mr. Lubinda has charged that his government’s foreign policy will be based on the mutuality of common interests, focus on promoting friendly and cordial relations and retaining Zambia’s membership to international organizations.

Mr. Lubinda said the Patriotic Front government is ready to work with both the bilateral and multilateral partners and will nurture the existing partnerships.

He explained that economic diplomacy will remain his government’s important focus of foreign policy and reiterated its commitment to creating sustainable partnerships with the international community.

The Minister was speaking in Lusaka today when he met members of the diplomatic corps.

  1. At long last a policy from the PF Govt. Little impact on the common Zambian but nonetheless it is a policy and one that might be important to our position as a country at an international level.

  2. If you read it you will soon realise he was bluffing. there is nothing he said that would qualify as policy. ‘Just wishing peace’, is that policy?

  3. “Economic diplomacy” sums it up for mother Zambia……we can not continue being a dumping ground and a rip off of our raw materials….

  4. akase, nothing new naimwe ba lubinda, Just engage with more Zambians in the diaspora to develop the country, not these Middle east issues. just give as dual citizenship and we begin working from there. lets be simple and practical!!

  5. What have we got to do with middle east? Leave those guys to fight their own battles. Concetrate on oil pipelinw with angola so we dont have to get oil from middle east no more. Have more agressive economic policy towards south africa, they are just reapping proffits from zambia in so many sectors while zambians get nothing in return.

  6. Foreign policy is not one of Zambia’s strong points at least not when the country’s finances are still dependent on foreign assistance and foreign knowhow. You need to have strong economic, military and diplomatic muscle to have a real foreign policy.

  7. I agree with bemba man, on second thought i dont really care that much , you PF guys should be very carefull with diaspora, as years go by you loose it, i find myself having fewer and fewer connections with z, i sustect my kids will have ZERO connections with zambia. If you wanna bring people back you really only have access to those whove been out for 10 years or less, further than that you have no diaspora to talk about, at least in terms of people thinking of returning.

  8. Mr Lubinda you are saying you are dismayed by the political unrest and killings in Middle East?Very funny, that is exactly what your government is slowly creating. No need to look far. What people in the Éast are fighting for is oil.Now oil is found on land.Your government need to change course before hell breaks loose

  9. no 3 and 6, why did you denounce your Zambian citizenship. Guys be Serious with some of the decisions you make. Africa has become sweet gentle men. People from Europe are now coming into Africa for work so says BBC NEWS. Most of my friends who went to USA have rum away, becoz there is nothing there. You make money and spend money on accomodation, health insurance, food. After three years, no difference with a fellow graduate who got employed by a bank in Zmb and now a director. He is actually in better position. This life………….,,,

  10. Economic Diplomacy? Good parroting from  VJ Mwaanga’s book, *The Lomg Sunset” and his daily political diaries. The veteran politician has lived propounding this from time in memorial. The question is, does Lubinda understands it though parroting it freely? We have work to prove that he is clueless of economic diplomacy. Just owe up to Diaspora help. Just the other day Lubinda was in the US with Amos Malupenga talking carelessly of his strategy of geeting Corporate giants to Zambia. Corporate giants as a national economic developmnt policy? LoL!

  11. Senior Citizen (aka BK) … google the term “diplomatic diplomacy” and you will learn that it is not V.J. Mwaanga’s concept.

  12. I am sorry, i meant the following: … Senior Citizen (aka BK) … google the term “economic diplomacy” and you will learn that it is not V.J. Mwaanga’s concept.

  13. The Minister outlined broadly what Government Foreign Policy will be and you dont expect him to give specifics. Economic Diplomacy entails that the country’s engagement will be determined by the economic benefits it derives from such relationships, therefore trading partnerships are likely to be more important. It is a policy statement and you need to unpack it to understand it in full!!!

  14. ZAMBIA IS SWEET. NEVER WOULD I CHANGE MY CITIZENSHIP? THERE IS A REASON I AM BORN ZAMBIAN. HOME IS HOME WOUNDER HOW SOME ZAMBIANS IN DIASPORA WANT THE DUAL CITIZEN NONSENSE. Be yourselves and help develop Zambia. NO ONE WILL DO IT FOR US.

  15. • Chipolopolo has been found guilty of cruelty to animals. They were found guilty of shooting and fatally wounding the cranes (Sudan), the Lions (Senegal) and the Elephants (Cote D Ivoire).
    • In another charge, Zambia was found guilty of disturbing the heavenly realms. It relates to a case of Mayuka discharging his copper bullet in public and shooting the black stars out of heaven. He admitted guilt.
On behalf of Zambia, Kalusha admitted Guilt and Zambia was sentenced to 12 months of celebration by FIFA.
    • The Judges (FIFA and CAF) will review the charges at the next court case in RSA in 2013.
We pray that Zambia will once again be found guilty of all these charges in 2013.
