Kenyan High Commissioner to Zambia Kipiego Cheluget has declined to comment on media reports suggesting that fugitive Henry Banda, son to former republican President Rupiah Banda is being harboured at the Kenyan State House in Nairobi.
Dr. Cheluget, who was approached by a Qfm staffer to get clarification on the matter, could neither confirm nor deny the media reports but opted to remain silent.
Meanwhile, Foreign affairs Minister Given Lubinda says he will issue a comprehensive statement once he studies the reports.
A daily newspaper quoted undisclosed sources yesterday as having revealed that Henry Banda is seeking refuge in Kenya after the Red light alert was sounded by former Inspector General of Police Dr. Martin Malama.
Henry is wanted by investigation wings for his alleged role in the fraudulent sale of Zamtel to LAP Green which has since been repossessed by government.

Has an official warrant of arrest been issued by the Zambian authorities or do they just want to question him? If a warrant has been issued, what is the charge? Can someone please shed light on this matter.Â

There are very few leaders who can fight corruption in Zambia genuinely. Sata is the least among politicians we can even try to depend upon to fight corruption. Sata enjoyed corruption during FJT’s rule. He was even arrested by Mwanawasa for stealing (keeping for himself) a government vehicle after 2001. He had promised to forgive Chiluba in 2006. Most of the convicted politicians for corruption are his tribesmate and friends. How do you expect him to fight corruption? Even for Mwanawasa, yes he introduced some fear for corruption but it was mostly for political mileage.

this is a problem we zambian have,we put too much trust in the so call political leaders,whom from time in memory have used as for their gain.if at all we want change, we need to demand for it, and if demand dose not work, take it by force,we need to stop thinking that someone will stop corruption or develope our country or put bread and butter on our table.. we need to fight for it , make noise, do something ..i for one refuse that my children and generations to come live in such country full of corruption, were tax payers money end up in people’s foundations… LETS FIGHT FOR JUSTICE
