Minister of Youth and Sports Chishimba Kambwili has implored Zambians to work hard and emulate the resilience exhibited by the victorious Zambia National Soccer Team in fighting vices such as disease, hunger and corruption.

Mr. Kambwili said Zambians needs to embrace key values such as team work, togetherness and dedication to duty if they are to contribute meaningfully to national development.

He stated that Zambians needs to show selflessness, discipline and resilience by putting the country first in accomplishing both personal and national goals that brings pride to the country.

Mr. Kambwili said this in Lusaka today when he officially launched the two week nationwide tour of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations trophy that Zambia won in Gabon.

The Minister explained that the tour will begin next week with Choma and end in Lusaka after going round all the 10 provincial centres.

Mr. Kambwili said government in collaboration with the private sector and other stakeholders have come up with the provincial tours in order to accord the general citizenry an opportunity to see the prestigious trophy.

He commended Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) and Zambian Breweries for sponsoring the tour to enable the general citizenry across the country to share in the celebrations.

Mr. Kambwili has since urged the private sector to emulate the two firms by coming on board and be associated with the success of the team.

Earlier, Youth and Sport Permanent Secretary Agness Musunga said government in partnership with various stakeholders had come up with a Steering Committee under the provincial tour following numerous appeals from soccer fans to see the AFCON trophy.

Ms. Musunga said government wants every Zambian to share in celebrating the National Team’s momentous achievement.

The trophy will have a one day stay in each provincial centre with the viewing time ranging from 8 to 17 hours. She however advised the general public that time is subject to change in line with the programme.

Zambia emerged victorious after beating Cote D’voire 8-7 on post match penalties following the two teams’ goal draw in regulation time.

  1. Why was Katongo acting like that in the picture?
Was it a fight between the President & First Lady who should tough the trophy first?

  2. ninshi livingstone residents who are hard at work and busy contributing to the countrys GDP and dont have time to travel 3hrs to choma wont have the chance to see the ichicombe grace livingstone

  3. For what? The winners are already back at their respective clubs.I think there is too much loafing in Zambia, just why would i leave my office to go stare at some trophy? I think this is driven by allowances.

  4. Good Initiative …. If the coffin went round what about the trophy … Others may see this as a way of Kalu campaigning. politics aside … I need to get a photo with the trophy ..

More money in our pockets at its best

  5. Lazy Zambians make me sick in the stomach. This so callesd AFCO of your is over, it is history. It’s time to get back to reality like the lies Sata peddled in to get into power which he is now failing to honour. Soccer is nothing, you can cling on to past glory but it will take you nowhere.

  6. Don take that useless cup of shit to barotseland..we don need it…don even think of touching mongu..otherwise am afraid….

    • YOU ARE A BIG FOOL. DO YOU OWN THE SO CALLED BAROTSELAND? YOU CAN LEAVE ZAMBIA AND PLANT YOUR LAND ELSE WHERE, WE DON’T NEED YOU AFTER ALL! THE TROPHY IS FOR ZAMBIANS AND IF YOU ARE NOT ONE DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND YOU WILL BE SORTED OUT!

    • BAROTSE ARMY
THE TROPHY WAS WON BY ZAMBIANS FOR THE COUNTRY. WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT YOUR SO CALLED BAROTSELAND! IF YOU ARE NOT ZAMBIAN TAKE YOUR BAROTSELAND ELSE WHERE. WE ARE FED UP WITH THIS SHIT MENTION OF BAROTSE, BAROTSE…AND WHICH ARMY ARE U TALKING ABOUT?

  7. This is a good move if the EPL trophy goes around the globe why the AFCON go around the whole nation. I can’t to see it reach Kasama.

  8. Nothing wrong with this trophy tour…after all one is not expected to go and STARE at it the all day. NO! We have been able to see the African Tour of the same trophy and Abedi Pele accompanied it, did we say the people who were seeing it were lazy? That’s a myopic view. We also had a chance to have the English Premiership trophy which was sponsored by Barclays. So this is just an innovative way of getting the commercial world to get involved in soccer or sport in general, meanwhile giving chance to the soccer fans to see the coveted AFCON trophy. If one is not a soccer fan it is not mandatory to go and STARE at the trophy…This world mwandi…you can never please everyone but this is going on and those opposed must live with the frustration…SORRY!

  9. good show. we need to see it live and possblye take a shot with it…… if it will be a working day, i will see it over lunch wherever they will be. so whats the problem you critics for nothing.

    • Faz had to get special permission from his club for him to stick around for 2 weeks. Otherwise they wanted him 48hrs after the final. Dont you like his looks? Thought he has improved a lot in that area, he needs to work on his L/R syndrome in his speeches though.

  10. Bring the trophy to my village in Mwachisompola as well. We are tired of eating manchebele, mbulukutu, mulembwe, chiwaya, mbeba, inswa, etc. No entertainment. Just waiting for the usual village entertainment that starts at 20:00hrs. Bana ni mbweeeee as aresult.

  11. The kambwili chap is a hopeless rabble rouser and should not really be in government. He seems to rub people the wrong way wherever he goes and it is not because of his ugliness or fat figure but because he is your typical swine, *****ic type of muntu. Shameful really I think msc should get rid of him but hey birds of a feather

  12. I think it is more important for FAZ to focus on the qualifiers that are coming up and next years competition instead of unnecessary CAMPAIGN tours. Let us draw up a plan that will ensure that our young team can dominate african football and that more of our players go to good leagues. Focus on U17, U21 world cups instead of partying for the rest of the year. Ghana and Sudan are now taking us very seriously so we need to work even harder!

  13. Yesssssssssss. I want to take a photo with the trothy. That’s what I was waiting for. Full not appreciating this are dull bcoz ever since mother Zambia was born, we have never won but this year we win. It must go round maybe the next win will be when we have already died or the earth has ended.

  14. Please make a clay replica of the thing and give to RB to bring around the country. He would appreciate the travel, the only thing he does best.
