Preparations for this year s’ kuomboka ceremony have reached an advanced stage.
ZANIS reports the ceremony’s Kufuluhela committee’s Publicity and Information chairman Shalala Simushi said preparations for this year’s kuomboka ceremony are held every Sundays and open to the public.
Mr. Simushi said that the definite date for ceremony has not yet been set but stressed that the date will be announced soon.
Speaking at the same interview, the committee’s vice-chairman Kumoyo Siyanga said that the committee is facing various financial challenges as the funds raised to date are inadequate.
The committee has thus appealed to government, the cooperate world and the general public to help sponsor the ceremony.
Mr. Simushi further stated that the total cost of the budget is 630 million kwacha. He said the committee has put up fundraising activities in order to raise the money.
He further stated that the activities which include the walking according to the traditional beats which will be held on the 17th of march and the traditional dress competition to be held on the 24 of march are open to the general public.
Mr. Siyanga said their expectations for this year s’ kuomboka are high and they wish to have a successful and colorful ceremony.

Well, Linyungandambo now have a change to congregate twice without a permit to strategise: at the Kuomboka and at the burial of Mooli Namaya Mbikusita-Lewanika. It is war, the only way to avert it is if someone can translate the BA64 in Lenje and Bisa for Kabimba and Sata respectively to understand that there is no secession in that document. What expenses are incured for such events? Just wondering,every year a begging bowl has to be passed around.Why arent such important ceremonies be self sustaining?
Tourism dept needs to create adverts that can be played in western countries up to 2-3 months before the events.
I barely see any advertising of Zambia in the papers and there is nothing on TV.
Could a few million be spent making a world class advert for foreign TV?

Lubinda and Inonge Wina should not attend they love their ministerial positions becuase up to now they have failed to state their posion on BA64 even after the the well respected recommendations from Dr R Chongwe.I wonder how they feel that Lozis are being insulted by Kabimba and they have remained silent.Inonge was voted by people who Kabimba has insulted.Please sacrifice your ministerial positions and defend your people.I dont sink Kabimba would have got away if he insulted the Mpika people.
