Police have arrested a woman by the name of Agatha Kalaluka in Western province for stealing a two year old girl.
Police Spokes Person Elizabeth Kangela confirmed the incidence to ZANIS in Lusaka. She said the incidence happened on 28 February 2012 around 18:00 in Imbowa Compound in Mongu.
Ms Kangela said that the suspect of Windberk Mongu was handed over to the police on 29th February 2012 by her husband and the landlord.
She said circumstances surrounding the matter are that the mother to the victim sells illicit beer from her home where the suspect went to drink from.
While there Agatha saw the child playing with other children and took the baby to her husband as the child she had given birth to.
It is believed that some time back in July last year while in Lukulu at her sister’s house Agatha told her husband that she was pregnant.
Agatha later came back to her husband’s house without the baby and informed her husband that she had left her at her sister’s house as she was unwell.
Ms Kangela said that on 26 February 2012 Agatha told her husband that she was going to Lukulu to get their child and later returned on the 28th February at night with a 2 year old child.
Her husband with the land lord later took the child to the police and the woman has since been arrested and charged with stealing of the child contrary to section of 171 of the penal code of the laws of Zambia and will appear in court soon.

Some women!!! Am sure she must have heard of a word called “adopt “..Just educate her and arrest plunderers not her, am sure she meant well for that baby
Ba Agather, are you sure that was your child you got? D.N.A kaili manje.
I agree with # 1 educate the lady and help her adopt, there are many kids who need parents like her, if she does not have relatives who left orphans to take care of please assist her with a child arresting her does not solve anything, there are a lot of plunderers who we need to arrest.
Why not get a husband and probably be blessed with a child unlike resorting to stealing?Any it whatever the reasons sorry.
I hope that the Police will pardon this Lady. What this lady needs is counselling and prayers. She needs to be delivered. Her actions where meant to serve her Marriage knowing the poverty levels caused by thieving MMD. Church leaders should intervene and help this woman. Â
ulishilu!!!! why do we have laws?
Gender based violence .
The problem with our church leaders is that they are busy Politicking like Bishop Mususu instead of enganging Gvt on such issues. Mususu is busy with his sour grapes because he is not receiving any more brown envelops like what used to happen in MMD era. MMD politicised churches and Pastors got trapped in the net,not knowing their limitsÂ
Ewoo wonders shall never end. Some women abort and throw living babies in toilets while others like Agather desperately need babies to take care of . If there is a problem with this couple, let them just be advised the right way of adopting. Though in our African culture its not really well understood as its always the woman to blame. I am sure she did not mean any harm as other people have already said, she was only tying to protect her marriage. its sad her husband may not be able to understand her wife’s inward grief and pain of not bearing a child of her own. I relate her to Haana of the Bible. There could be Peninas out there. Just counsel her, she needs prayers too.
Hahaha, people post their thoughts on an article even before they read it. Look at Fresh mind @4, very funny.
Naumo ka…..hahahbabananababa
The judge should exercise leniency. Agatha was probably going to be a better mother than that illicit beer selling shebeen queen of a mother. This child’s life is already in danger anyway.
poor woman.
she just made a mistake ,ma weeeee.she desperately needed a husband that is why she cheated the husband she was pregnant.please convict her to clean all the toilets at lewanika hospital, however, the report we expected is a report on the people of imusho who are some times described as the forgotten people of zambia. Please they are also people. You take 4 days and nights to reach that place.they have nevr seen a road, children as old as 15 have never got onto a car,They also still know that the president of zambia is mwanawasa!,they have never had shoes on their feet.no school nearby,no clinic.actually they have never seen a nurse.Surprising enough, they understand plenty english and have alot of cattle though their animals dye all the time fromsome deseases.please,go to imusho with a camera,yo
The story doezn’t any common sense at all; (1) The wife “tellz” the huzband she’z pregnant; (2) Agatha comez from “delivery” without a baby; (3) The “new born iz left” athe sister’z house becauze the mother iz unwell; (4) The couple “stayz for seven months”, then the wife bringz a 2yr old baby she had “left withe sister”…. Simple logik cannot take this narration.
humm where are the nasty comments am sure if she was Bemba or it happened in muchinga there would be all sorts of comments are Tribalists still in bed?
I am sure it should be a lozi who spend sometime on CB
Sad indeed.
Mad Bemba colonizer of Zambia Have you ever wondered where our Loud Foul Mouthed brother Kizito has disappeared to? I hope he is not in Muchinga trying to seduce our sisters with his rotten teeth and foul mouth.
nakulu bantu tafyala ni ngumba jst ask God he ll gv u
Musula Nkaki..#… I have stopped fighting with these Bemba thieves. For the past one month, I was screwed to my TV celebrating Zambia national team’s victory.. For those who is expecting any good things from SATA must just forget. They wanted to use zambia’s victory as PF’s victory. There are laot of players from different tribes nowadays in the national,,,God knows, if it was those days when all the national is full of DON’T KUBEBA, we would have suffered us from diffrent areas. The man is ruling with try and error. I leave everything for you to digest..!!!
living a lie always leads to disaster.
It is the cultural pressure for women to produce a child even when the husband shoots blanks.
Kizito ful Mushota always amafus! IQ? toy-ileti
I dont understand – if she claimed to be pregnant in the first place, didn’t the husband not notice that her tummy was not getting bigger?
Or are we still living in the medivial days where when a woman falls pregnant. she moves to her relatives? This is why African men make very bad fathers – they do not bond with their children, let alone neither are they supportive of during their wife’s preganancy. They are never present at the child birth, all hey do is wait for a ‘phone call’ that oh, bali ku hospital ba mayo.
Next thing, he ‘visits’ the new born baby once a day – he doesn’t even hold the baby – he just peeps to see the face when the baby is presented to him!!!
The lady is blackmailing her husband.. She must accept that she aborted the pregnance and now feels bad, hence trying to cover up.
who wil leave a newly born baby with the sister only to get her after two years.bonza inangu awe mwe even a five year old cant believe this lie.
