Zambia Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela
Two police officers have been stabbed to death by a traditional healer in Mikanta village in Chief Chikanta’s area in Choma district.

The two had gone to apprehend the traditional healer, after receiving a report that him, his brother, and his brother-in-law had earlier murdered a man from the same village.

Both Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela and Southern Province Police Commissioner Brenda Muntemba have confirmed the incident which happened on Monday.

Ms. Kanjela identified the deceased police officers as Inspector Maibolwa a female officer, and Constable Mwiinga.

The traditional healers have been identified as Dala Sibanji and Kebby Sibanji, while particulars for the third suspect who is a brother – in -law of the two suspects have not yet been established.

Ms. Kanjela says Dala who is the main culprit died of gun shot wounds while two other healers are on the run and police have launched a man hunt.

She says the officers who were in the company of four other officers, upon disembarking from the police vehicle saw Dala Sibanji advancing towards them while holding a knife in his hand.

Ms Kanjela says it was then that the officers opened fire at Sibanji but he continued advancing and he managed to stab two officers.

  1. Kwati ni mu film futi.A man only armed with a knife manages to kill two officers armed with assault riffles.

  2. Haha Sangoma managed to freeze them officers! How can a Knife over power a Gun?One Knife against Four Guns!!

  3. Just wondering what the second victim was thinking when his colleague was being stubbed. Watching and standing their? why not discharge? Like its a film for real, one man with a knife killing two police officers armed with a gun. Any way, it so sad they lost their lives whilst on national duty.

  4. Sad news but the police saw a guy with a knife and they waited to die.I thaught they are trained on how to grab wepons.Shame

  5. The chamz really disadvantaged the police. All bullets were going down, up and sides. Am just in Chikanta nearest to the place of happening.

  6. It all boils to one thing. corrupt recruitments, these chaps are recruited on who u know basis. They dont have what it takes to be a police all they need is a job.

    • This is a ridiculous thing to say. There may be nepotism, yes but even if you recruit through normal channels, chaps wont perform if they are not properly trained. Its about training.

  7. If only those f@$$%$ where shot at it was going to be hell for the constables @ killing innocent citizents mwamona nomba? please police if u come across these vicious f$% just kill after all u are just citizens aswell and u have pipo who are luking up to u

  8. The real story is that the officers tried to shoot @ the suspect. But for some reason the guns could not shot. I hear this guy could even outspeed vehicles. how creepy. u even begin to wonder whether this guy is really dead or has simply eluded the police…

  9. They tried their best, the man was strong, when they were trying to shoot him their guns were going upwards, sidewards and backwards the charms really worked.

  10. Ladies and gently .. I think you didn’t understand the whole story..Reread > DEAD 2 police officers + the witch doctor = Ms. Kanjela says Dala who is the main culprit died of gun shot wounds

  11. Anybody that chargers against an officer has to be down before getting to em.You dont thnk twice abt it,i’ll get you b4 u get me.

  12. Sorry and condlences to the officer, but surely the CID should have instigated before sending an arrest party. It is like there was no proper planning. I know juu might have worked but how come the chief culprite was shot and died later. If police can killed like this, who can protect us ? The officr in charge should be disciplined for negligence of duty.

  13. There is something wrong with this story;
    1) Why and how did the Police (Armed) fail to apprehend the suspect? Do they have training in physically subdueing and immobilising suspects? 2) They fired on the suspect with lethal force as he approached them with a knife and despite his life threatening injuries (loss of blood, trauma and shock to vital organs) he managed to stab two officers, what were the other four doing? 3) As is usual with accounts involving the Police, there is no independent or corroborating source to this story. It is attributed to the Police through the ZNBC. Come on people, show some proper journalism!
Next we’ll be hearing the fugitive suspects were shot while trying to escape when they are caught because they saw the actual events around these tragic deaths.
