Opposition MMD presidential aspirant Nevers Mumba has advised Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani to be professional in her duties if she is to have a lasting career.
Dr. Mumba says if Ms Libongani chooses to be professional, Zambians will be behind her to give her all the necessary support that she needs.
He noted that if she decides to please the Patriotic Front government, her tenure will be as short as that of the PF government because she will be serving the government of the day and not the citizens.
The MMD presidential aspirant has however expressed hope that the first female inspector general of police will deliver to the best of her ability because she has worked very hard to get to where she is now.
Ms. Stella Libongani was appointed Inspector General of Police after President Sata fired Dr.Martin Malama after only holding that position for barely four months.

A political appointee is not necessarily a person who is not qualified to do a good job.
Stella Libongani has years of experience within the police force and as far as I know no hint of malpractice has ever been found to blacken her record. So good luck to her in this most difficult of jobs.
Let us wait and it see. Zambiananna as you have pointed out Political appointee, you always serve your appointing authority, the alternative is to resign. In Africa and Zambia in particular Chief cops serve at the mercy of the President. If she makes a professional decision against the President you will see how she will be dropped like a hot potato. Nevers has adviced the chief cop correctly but she serves the appointing authority. Actually its only in Africal, I remember the US Joint Chief, who is the head of all the armed forces criticised Obama and the next thing he was dropped. There Professional or not its at the mercy of the appointing authority.

What career? When one is appointed IG especially by MCS, then without doubt their police career is over. If you are lucky the best that you can get is to go into diplomatic service, also known as “dumping service” in the new political dispensation.
