POLICE in Chipata have arrested a 46-year-old man for having sex with his 16-year-old daughter.
The man of Mchini Township forced himself on his biological daughter on a number of occasions after his wife went to harvest crops in a small-holding farm where she spent some days.
Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela said yesterday that the man’s wife left home for the field last month and only returned last week.
The girl narrated to her mother about the incident and that she had not been feeling well after the encounters.
Ms Kanjela said the girl’s mother then reported the case to the police and was issued a medical report.
The girl was examined at Chipata General Hospital where it was discovered that she was HIV positive.
Police arrested the man and charged him with incest and will appear in court soon.
In Solwezi, police have discovered a body of a man with private parts missing in what is suspected to be a ritual murder.
The body was found floating on Jiwundu River in Senior Chief Musele’s area.
Police suspect a case of ritual murder because the victim had gone fishing in the company of three other people and suddenly went missing. He was found dead without clothes and private parts.
North-Western Province police commissioner Eugene Sibote said on March 30 the victim, Golden Kapanda 39 of Lukanga Village in Kambishi area had gone fishing in the company of Stanely Semeki, Moses Semeki and Muzhinga Demala after which he was reported missing.
Mr Sibote said after missing for about six days, Kapanda’s body was found floating in the river without clothes, while his private parts were missing.
He said police were holding the three suspects to help with investigations, while the body had been buried at a marked grave awaiting a postmortem.
In Kitwe, a 70 year-old man only identified as a Mr Kasambala was yesterday found dead in his house and police believe he had taken a potent beer popularly known as Tujilijili.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Mary Tembo said Mr Kasambala was found dead in his house in Kandabwe Township without injuries.
She, however, said the man had blood stains on the nose and he was suspected of having taken alcohol in excess.
