Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mutembo Nchito has cautioned political parties to ensure that funding of their political systems is free from corruption.

Mr. Nchito says former government leaders are being investigated for corrupt practices resulting from corruption within the political system of a party.

He says serving government leaders should learn from the mistakes of the previous government leaders that it is wrong for them to source for party funding when instead the money is going in individual pockets.

Mr. Nchito stressed that government officials should realize that it is a responsibility of the party to source for political funding and not government members.

He was speaking in Lusaka during the patriotic front and civil society dialogue meeting.

Mr. Nchito says there is need to deal with political corruption; if not, all efforts to fight corruption would be futile.

And Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) Executive Director Goodwell Lungu has advised the Patriotic Front government to avoid being arrogant stating that it was the reason that led to the election loss of the movement for multi-party democracy.

Mr. Lungu says there should be more consultation by President Michael Sata before making constitutional appointments .

  1. Meeting of Patriotic Front and Civil societies? Which camp does the Director of Public Prosecution belong?
I do not agree with Nchito here unless he has not been correctly quated. I will wait for the Post report before I comment on his point.

  2. Plunderers of the economy through intellectual thieving (Corruption) and Dictators are the same people looking at it from an ordinary citizen. White collar crimes are committed by intellectuals blinding the masses of our poor people that they are the only ones capable of driving the economy. Dictators on the other hand will robot people in the hope that their ideologies are implemented thinking it’s the only way to help a country move forward but equally bank money on offshore accounts. What Zambia needs is both. Sata is behaving like he is a savior we need to use him by pushing him to fuse together with intellectuals so checks and balances drive our dear economy….it’s our only way out. We have tried each group its failing the whole Africa as whole

  3. how can somebody who is serially corrupt en a known lawyer of sharp practice such as forging supreme court orders counsel political parties about corruption?????only in zambia.those of you who voted for p.f must be ashamed of yourselves and must ask God to deliver you from your stupidity……………..

  4. Can you also ensure that you settle the debt you and your mmembe owe to National Airport before you start lecturing us on corruption. That is tax payers money from poor Zambians. And who is prosecuting you in that case on behalf of the state?

  6. The disgraced nchito advising others when he is failing to pay dbz. He is behaving as if he is a clean man when in actual fact he got money pretending that he will pay back. He is actualy first dpp facing court cases while serving

  7. Just shut up Burden Nchito your days is fast approaching together with your girl friend Fred M’membe lol.

  8. Look who is talking corruption!! Mr Nchito, you should have acknowledged ur debt to DBZ instead of fighting the state – that was money meant for our poor brothers and sisters. You chewed the money, together with ur friend Mmembe. Acceptance of the problem would have helped maintained ur dignity. Now, we have the DPP that can be convicted of crime!! Only in banana republics, that has become our country, can you have a criminal for a DPP

  9. He makes good points though. If the same thought process holds then we can expect the current govt to face the same scrutiny in the future and no squirming then okay?

  10. The fraudster speaks.
He has no shame to stand in public after corruptly acquiring the position by serious maneuvering in Parliament. His days are coming. crookedness never outwits good.

  11.
