United Party for National Development UPND Mazabuka central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo has observed that Republican President Michael Sata seems to have a predetermined outcome of the commissions of inquiry he set up.

Mr. Nkombo said that it was not surprising that the President has on two occasions rubbished the reports of the commissions of inquiry.

He said that this was an indication that the President wants his own predetermined outcome to be contained in the reports presented to him.

Mr. Nkombo explained to QFM News that the setting up of commissions of inquiry was misplaced as government expected specific outcomes from the inquiries.

He said that the president should be advised on some of the reactions he gives when presented with reports of the commissions of inquiry.

  1. Dictators want to hear what they want. In dictatorship societies there are plenty of people that know it’s a dictatorship raving on their conscious, but few are ready to build a change critical mass. Dependents cannot be counted on to openly crusade politics of sanity and institutionalization, while others will make sure it’s only in a room with curtains drawn and door locked.

  2. To their last breath dictators rule with fear and intimidation. A big key though is giving the people something they want. Unless you unscript dictatorship this way more, some people are willing to overlook illegitimate means to an end if the alternative has not been distinguished

  3. Throughout history of contemporary society, nowhere has it been proven that the future of any progressive people has been built on dangerous incompetency of counterfeit leadership. Success, prosperity and just societies are built on visionary and smart open Governance with moral leadership in a thriving democratic space. This is where separation of powers is a practical virtue of national dynamism.

  4. Plunderers of the economy through intellectual thieving (Corruption) and Dictators are the same people looking at it from an ordinary citizen. White collar crimes are committed by intellectuals blinding the masses of our poor people that they are the only ones capable of driving the economy. Dictators on the other hand will robot people in the hope that their ideologies are implemented thinking it’s the only way to help a country move forward but equally bank money on offshore accounts. What Zambia needs is both. Sata is behaving like he is a savior we need to use him by pushing him to fuse together with intellectuals so checks and balances drive our dear economy….it’s our only way out. We have tried each group its failing the whole Africa as whole

  5. Duh!!
The very fact that a separate team was created and people were hand-picked to conduct the inquiry should have been a big red alert to us, esp since we already have DEC, ACC, CID, OP, ZP, and all those other LETTERS, who are task with investigations and are already being paid for the same, etc.
It is our blood-lust that has blinded us. So far all this time and money that has been wasted amounts to nuthin’.

One more thing, given the amount of money that has been spent on these useless COI, you would think that at the end of it all, life would just automagically improve for everyone. Understand that this “fight against corruption” will in no way shape or form improve anyone’s lives.
If we are serious about the fight, we’d be working to fix our obsolete laws.

    “Useless”

  6. I totally agree with Garry, how and why should he rubbish actual findings , he is merely trying to find faults were there are no faults, same issue with Henry, all they are saying i sthat hey want him for question without really susbtantaiing the charges . he may have had a hand in the zamtel issue but really all they are saying is they want the guy for questioning. I am not a sympathser for these guys but i just think these guys have base less allegations and just wasting tax payer money employing the almighty powerful PF secretary General.

    • Jojo
You need a mental doctor. This man was put in office by the majority of the people. If he is not doing fine, the people themselves will decide at the end of his contract muutwile bo ndate mwanana.

  7. I am in Mazabuka and this guy is invisible in his constituency. Where does he live?? In Lusaka capital city?? This guy does fackoo for the people of Mazabuka Central…!

  8. number 14, you should know better all politicians are the same…. only get to see them when they are campaigning.

  9. I am moving to Malawi, at least we expect some sanity coming back. If we are not careful we might take several steps backwards.

In the few months the Pathetic Front took office we seem to have lost sense of direction in all sectors most importtantly the economic policy.

Can soemone tell me Does the President have advisors. legal, economic etc. or they are too scared to be fired from their new jobs ,, all they say is correct Bwana lets implement even when they know its not inthe best interest ofthe country.

    • iwe kamushi,  is king cobra a lion that bites before you open your mmouth, i dont think so, why are his subbordinates scared of him, he is only  human who can easily be  convinced when you have tangible  things to tell him, but whats with this thing am hearing about parents being scared of the president. ninshi naiwe niwebo kabolala. they say guilty people are always afraid even afraid of fello human.

    • Advisors cannot guess the next mad idea that will pop out of their client’s mouth. You can only advise if you are asked for advice. The client must ask the right questions, or atleast ask. Don’t blame the advisor, blame the client. In the case of Sata, advisors tell him where he has gone wrong after the event and then spend a lot of time cleaning after his mess.

  10. My brothers your prayers have been answered…my next prophetic revelation is…………….eee aaah wait…wait!

  11. Nothing………#15 & 16, keep wishing.
Gentlemen lets get real, USD/ZMK5,300 ,inflation at 6 (only on independence avenuew) the rest of the country 18%. we need to stop this issue of making base less allegations without prpoper evidence. Commision of inquiry whose findings are thrown out ,WHAT A WASTE.

  12. BUT WHO SAYS WHAT EVER A COMMISSION RECOMMENDS MUST BE FOLLOWED RELIGIOUSLY? YOU HAVE TO STUDY THE RECOMMENDATIONS AND FIND OUT IF THEY MAKE SENSE. OF COURSE OUR OLD MAN ALSO LIKES COMMENTING PREMATURELY.

  13. Senior Citizen #8 “Throughout history of contemporary society, nowhere has it been proven that the future of any progressive people has been built on dangerous incompetency of counterfeit leadership”. I love this ! Can some one please translate this statement in every Zambian language and circulate to every Zambian.

    • Let me try in broken Lozi:uhmm (clearing throat): “Mwa lifasi kaufela la batu ba ba zwezi pili, hakuna ko ku kile kwa lumelezwa kuli, bufumu bwa batu ba ba zwezi pili bo fumanehe fa sifanu sa bu eteleli bwa puka”. Silalo Induna (Senior Citizen).

    • “… sifanu sa bueteleli bwa puka”? Mubulela mwa mashitanguti kanti he? Kambe kina nenikali: “Kuzwa kalekale mwa mafasi a zwezi pili akuna ko kufamanehile kuli zwelopili ikona kutiswa ki baeteleli babasina ngana ni niti”.

  14. Zambia is very filfy in corruption. Even some Chairmen of Commissions are followed to the later by corruption. Yes, Sata is right on these ones. Nowadays, it is very difficult to trust anyone in Zambia. Not even your so called beloved wife. So, lekeni Sata ateeke bakabwa imwe. You are all hiding in diaspora just cleaning plates and baby sitting despite your numerous degrees etc.

  15. I think honourable nkombo is right. It is very immature for the head of state to behave like a street vendor. Why should he expect all the commissions of enquiry to be in favour of him.

  16. Gary Nkombo’s is one way of looking at the matter? But what if, for the sake of argument, Mr. Sata somehow knew for a fact that certain illegal or irregular transactions were done at a certain place, but for the sake of transparency, appointed a COI, and that COI returned a report that did not contain anything on the illegal or irregular transactions, would it be wrong for him to rubbish or reject the report?

  17. The president is privy to intelligence reports from many sources. If commissioners are not scrupulous or are compromised it may be evident in sweeping some facts (that were submitted or reported) under the carpet. The president has the right to speak out againist shoddy work. If he cannot THEN WHO WILL? Good work Mr President. You have set the right tone for anti -corruption fight.

    • Like your name suggests, yours is unfortunately a theory which Seba’s COI has failed to prove. So you are at the hypothesis stage, hence you require proof using concepts like mathematical induction that we (I) did in M110 eons ago. So maybe we require another COI to investigate Seba’s COI in order to verify your wonderful theory.

  18. @ mungoma, you should also realise that what a layman like Simplfy Ukwa may perceive to be illegal might just end up being technically legal if looked at professionally by professionals.Or better still if he is convinced that something wrong went on, why not just instruct AAC to investigate other than spend money on COI whose independent outcome you reject – no wonder henry can’t come here coz ukwa is the judge.

  19. I understand Sata’s frustrations. We all know that these people plundered the nation’s resources but these are educated and smart crooks. They didn’t leave obvious prints and the commissions set up are coming up short on concrete evidence. These guys will get away with these crimes. Take Henry Banda, for instance, he probably never even signed any document but you had better believe he was a beneficiary in dirty money changing hands, and it shows in his lifestyle.

  20. From the look of things SEBASTIAN ZULU and ROGER CHONGWE might quit their positions due to embarrasments. Seba Zulu is disappointed over the Radar Investigations where his report was called as being useless.

  21. OK BA SATA TAMWAKWATA AMANO YOU WANT PREDETERMINED RESULTS,THEN GO AND DO THE INVESTIGATIONS YOURSELF AND BE BIASED THATS ALL.IMBUSHI SHILETEKA.ATASE BAFIKA……………KUTI WATUKANA

  22. Many predetermine the ultimate results of current govt. Fancy that. You finally have something in common with those you criticise :)

  23. The argument that Sata already has information from intelligence agencies and that would be the basis for rejecting the reports is not a strong argument at all. If at all that information were factual without a shadow of a doubt, would it not behoove the president to furnish that evidence to the commissions for them to come to their conclusions? In 2003 Bush went to war based on “intelligence” from two of some the worlds best intelligence outfits, but alas, they have yet to prove that the intelligence they thought they had was true. It’s tantamount to Bush reprimanding the US army for failing to find WMDs.

  24. Where are we going….
come to think of it do we have any promising young politician likely to evr become president of Zambia.

  25. I am still waiting for people to write me letters with details of their ailments, at what stage they are, medical reports and so on. After that I will give you my prophesy. Watch me on Emmanuel TV.

  26. Frankly, I will not waste my time commenting on boring news!!! PF, we are waiting for results, 4years to go!!!
