President Michael Sata has thanked the Zambian people for respecting and according former vice president George Kunda a dignified escort.

President Sata however says the family should not listen to self ordained clergymen who were questioning why the former president was not evacuated adding that the will of God defeats science and there is no need for men of God to question his will.

The president was speaking this morning when he led hundreds of mourners in paying their last respects to former vice president George Kunda in a church service at the cathedral of the child Jesus.

President Sata was accompanied by vice president Guy Scott, several cabinet ministers and first republican president Kenneth Kaunda.

Speaking earlier MMD acting president Michael Mabenga has thanked president Sata for being there for Mr Kunda and declaring three days of national mourning.

Mr. Mabenga has urged government to continue with the caring spirit because the country needs the spirit.

Meanwhile, there was a near punch up between PF and MMD cadres which prompted president Sata to order the inspector general of police Stella Libongani to maintain order outside the church.

  1. why not condemn both groups of cadres’ behaviour publicly? This is pathetic behaviour by cadres from both parties, Fighting just because one is PF and the other is MMD, meanwhile the leaders you are fighting for are sitting together inside the church, and obviously will dine together at the funeral house.
Its high time we condemn this cadre’s behaviour of causing public dis-order in the name of being cadres.

  2. Sounds like a very watered down article. The truth remains the same no matter how much you doctor it. At least I now know beyond every shadow of doubt who the paymasters are for Lusakatimes.

  3. President Sata has a way of expressing sense of humor which some unsensitive minds miscontrue or mis understand.
Continuation political cadre feud has to stop ,as they is now northing to fear for .Sata will surely conduct clean and fare politics but if those who are born and bred on violence opt to create unnecessary fighting overtones surely the wise must simply ignore them .
We are now free and love must lead among politicians and men of God.

  4. What type of a country is this: where an entire president has to “order” the police to maintain law and order? The police are fearful of their jobs after Dr Malama was fired as IG when he offered police protection to Nevers Mumba who was being threatened by PF cadres in Petauke. If this trend continues, Zambia will become ungovernable – the first step in being a failed state.

  5. MR. PRESIDENT ALWAYS SHAME THESE PEOPLE WHO CRITICIZED YOU BY BEING GOOD TO THEM.

PF CADERS SHOULD STOP THE NONSENSE OF FIGHTING MMD CADERS. THESE ARE LOSERS AND WILL NEVER BOUNCE BACK INTO POWER, THEY ARE JUST ON A LOSING BATTLE.

  6. Cadres, pathetic creatures! People living in model democracies, do you have ‘party cadres’ there or ‘party youths’?

  7. MAFI MAFI. EVEN SATA HIMSELF IS A FIGHTER WE ALL KNOW THAT, LIKE FATHER LIKE CHILDREN IN PF AND LIKE BLOGERS HERE

  8. @2 Bemba Man?? I salute you, spot on?? Why do these poor Zambians get cheated and fight each other when Party Leaders are sitting together and truly dinning together?? It high time we condemned such behaviors, This was a funeral. Honestly with such behavior?? Would we do things together as one Nation?? ZAMBIANS wakeup don’t get pushed to behave fo.o.lish by your st.upid masters (Dirty politicians)
