Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has donated four (4) medical examination couches worth K25 million to Roan General Hospital in Luanshya District on the Copperbelt Province.

Mr Kambwili also donated K10 million cash to the same hospital.

And Mr Kambwili has pledged through his firm, Mwamona Engineering Company to put up the hospital’s sealing board as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to replace the sealing board which is almost falling off the roof.

Speaking at a Press briefing after he toured the hospital this morning, Mr Kambwili who is also Sports Minister said the hospital needs a facelift so that residents of Luanshya can be treated there without being referred outside the district.

Mr Kambwili was not happy with the state of the infrastructure at the hospital which is almost falling apart especially the wards, the Laboratory and the ART clinic and offices lying behind the main building.

Most of the building at the hospital have their sealing boards, window panes and frames fallen while the surrounding is extremely dirty.

This prompted the area MP to donate some money and to instruct the District Commissioner to write to all companies operating in Luanshya to consider coming to the aid of the hospital.

Mr Kambwili has since introduced what is to be called ‘an open day’ for the hospital where all the business people operating in Luanshya will be required to tour the clinic twice a year and identify what is missing so that they can also contribute.

In launching the ‘open day’ which falls next week on Friday, Mr Kambwili pledged on behalf of his company to rehabilitate the sealing board in addition to the donation he made today.

He has also urged all companies to do the same when they meet next Friday.

He noted that business people are making a lot of money in the district hence the need for them to contribute from the profits they are making.

Mr Kambwili added that in his quest to make the hospital clean, he has decided to involve four Luanshya based secondary schools in the clean-up programme.

He explained that each school will be given a plot to clean and the best plot will win an amount of K500,000 while the runners up will get K250,000 from his company.

The Sports Minister has also urged workers at the hospital to ensure that they keep the hospital clean as government would not manage to attend to small hospital maintenance and cleaning.

Roan General Hospital only looks clean at the front part while furniture and the floor inside and other buildings behind that include wards, Laboratory, pharmacy, examination rooms and offices are in a deplorable state needing urgent attention.

And Mr Kambwili extended the donation to another health centre which is expected to be built within Roan constituency known as Section 25 clinic whose foundation stone is expected to be laid on Saturday.

Section 25 clinic has be given 2 medical examination couches similar to the ones he has donated to Roan General Hospital.

Mr Kambwili recently donated an ambulance and hospital beds which are the only presentable beds where patients can rest when admitted in Roan Hospital.

  1. People of Zambia sit back and admire! This is a man at work. If he can do this for roam what will stop him doing it for the whole Zambia. President in te making: Kambwili
    2016 is yours viva viva

  2. Things have indeed fallen apart at this once great health institution, it is actually an eyesore. But should it take an individual to bring it back to its glory days? GRZ should move in and do their part. Individuals and companies should only do so much, govt should play a bigger role.

  3. This is a great approach, I would love other MPs to introduce the open day in their constituents its really something to admire about. MPs wake up and see what Kambwili is doing

  4. Govt. should just utilise tax payers money for such services, thats what we pay tax for. There will be no need for such insignificant individual donations, aimed at apeasing the ignorant iliterate masses.

    • Tax payers money??? yes, but the question is this money enough to adequately cater for all the service areas of govt?? Insignificant as it maybe, but will still make a positive difference.

  5. He may be a little rough around the edges, but the man definitely has a passion for his job. He is clearly operating miles above his peers. I recommend a personal assistant / life coach / physical assistant to help him lose weight and control his hypertension.

There is a king cobra. This is the small one. Pity they didn’t let him loose on the Chinese !

  6. chama you are so iliterate…….. just sit your ass down and admire the man who is able to give when you guys fold your arms and just look on……

  7. #66, you certainly lack exposure! Its your type that easily gets impressed by such cheap publicity stunts. My point is in civilised countries citizens pay tax so that they can enjoy good health facilities such as hospitals, roads, water, sanitation etc. These small donations will not take us anywhere, besides God does not recognise such type of giving where you expect praise from the common man. The same business houses he’s apealing to are also burdened by tax.

  8. I agree with number 6 Chama. Those are simple issues the local Govt can take care of. It also creates jobs!

  9. ya maybe he cn do it quietly bt surely ths is commendable!bt we need consistency & wat is the govts position on o ths falling clinics & hospitals?junior cobra keep it up bt don play to the gallery.take heed!

  10. Some people are really hard to please. Am glad I don’t work under some of the bloggers’ supervision. Am sure it would be hell. Nothing is ever good or worth their while.

  11. I only heard of a “bad” Kabwili,
Are there more MPs doing better things is communities? Its good if ZANIS can be reporting such.

  12. Bloggers let us be realistic on this issue, in as much as we know the government is responsible for taking care of such things, but we must also appreciate those individuals that are willing to contribute to such issues. There is not need to blame Kambwili for his gesture. It is not only the responsibility of the government but the people in that constituency to take care of their properties and insure that everything is good and in working order. There is totally no need to always wait for the president and government to come in to the aid of the hospital. The man used his initiative and every other individual should just emulate him and the same in their respective constituencies. Let us not always wait upon the government to come to our aid! Use your initiatives!

  13. While donations are welcome, it should not be a way of life. Kambwili was elected MP to bring development to Roan constituency. He has a duty and obligation to Roan. He owes the people of Roan planned, organized and defined development projects and not some random donations that are self serving. Stop this manipulation of vulnerable people in order to win their compassion and undeserved adoration like you are their redeemer.

  14. Angle of view Zambians jealous down. The MP has done a good thing ,he has seen a need and has responded.Even us we can.The Govt.can not do everything even in developed countries like UK people donate to fight cancer… Well done Hon.Kamwili you are in the right direction

  15. I’m with you Charity! Its the primary responsibility of government to provide social services, and build infrastructure to enhance development in the country. This ‘Third World’ mindset of expecting the president, and his political followers to begin to ‘donate’ money for the provision of amenities as if we were in a chiefdom is very backward and seriously borders on corruption; because then all MPs will start ‘donating’ CDF, which the constituencies duly deserve in order to win political milage. What Chishimba should have done (and should still do) is to lobby appropraite wings of govt which should facilitate development in his area. This shouldnt be difficult as the man already belongs to the ruling party!

  16. Instead of using his clout as a member of the cabinet to push such measures into policy like “Open day”,this simpleton should know that these companies pay tax and taxpayers money should also be seen to trickle down to the grass roots. These areas contribute alot of funds to the treasury purse so why doesn’t this man tackle that issue instead of harassing SMEs.  BUFFOQN Kwabwili should know that a company donating a one off K10m is not CSR….CSR is a voluntary corporate responsibility that a firm integrates in its business model for the long term not just a mere handout.

  17. Its ceiling board ba reporter. Again kambwili should be applouded for this. Its what one can for the people and not what gvt can do for its people. Its actually sad that such infrastructure have fallen to such state of dilapidated state

  18. Congrats Kambwili. If all MPs did what you have done, we would have a clean nation and all hospitals would be in good shape. GRZ has a responsibility to give to the hospital but even in Australia, hospitals also depend on the generosity of the business community and of the ex-patients. So you who are roasting Kambwili do not know how hospitals overseas are supported.

  19. Good work Kambwili, this is how things should be,not waiting for the government to sort things out, communities need to look at other ways of helping themselves.

  20. Kubantu takwaba chisuma for sure, the man has done a good thing but to some people its bad. We all know its the responsiblity of the govmnt to make health facilities in good state, but should we/Kambwili just sit & wait for gvmnt when there is a little we can do? remember even that little has made a difference to the hospital, should you wait for the whole house to fall down then fixed or seal that small crack to prevent it from falling down? Muletasha ba kembo, well done Mr Kambwili, I wish all the MP’s can follow your steps even feel ashamed for they have run away from the people. I wish this man had stood in chingola when he used to stay there, Ba Simusa was very talkative when MMD was in power were are you old man? Cant you see how bad chingola roads are, hospitals etc

  21. Ku Chingola Akulyeni muleina mulesunsha ba MP come 2016 mukese mukupapatila ama vote…..same nabana Banda of chililabombwe very useless lady, 2016 tamwaka imyompe, gone into hiding mukesa sokoloka mu 2016.

  22. Viva Kambwili. How I wish some other MPs can emulate. Roan has Ambulances with a community bus for funerals. It is all Kambwili. Bravo! Who knows, you might take over from bashi Chilufya!
