Police nab jerabos

Police in Chingola have arrested six people popularly known as Jerabos in connection with the theft of over five tonnes of copper ore.

The police arrested the suspects on June 3 this year around 12:20 hours at Helen area at Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) Copperbelt police Chief Mary Tembo who confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday in Kitwe identified the suspects as Chrispin Makayi 32, Joe Kapasa 27, Jackson Mugwela 32, Rainford Munyenyembe, 27 and Steven Simbeye, all of Chingola.

Titus Chikwamo was found in possession of 23 bags of copper concentrates each weighing 25 Kilogramme in his Isuzu registration number AGA 5542 at KCM stock pile 98.

The police also recovered an abandoned Toyota Hilux registration number AAX 1394 laden with 20 bags of copper concentrate each weighing 25 kilogrammes.

Ms Tembo said all the suspected have been detained to assist the police with investigations in the matter.

  4. At times it would be nice to have an army, airforce, ZNS and police commander that remembers that our armed forces are sworn to protect us from terrorists foreign and domestic.
