President Michael Sata is tomorrow expected in Geneva, Switzerland to address the on-going International Labour Conference(ILO).
President Sata is one of the high-level guests invited to deliver a keynote speeches at the 101st Session of the International labour
conference which stated on May 30.Zambia’s Ambassador to Switzerland Encyla Sinjela told ZANIS in Geneva yesterday that President Sata was expected to arrive at Geneva- Cointrin Airport at 19:35 hours accompanied by First Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba and some top government officials.
Ambassador Sinjela said other leaders who were invited to deliver keynote speeches at the labour conference which has brought together more than 3,000 government, union and employer delegates from the ILO’s 184 member states include the Prince Asturias of Spain, the President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchila, President of Tunisia Moncef Marzouki and Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.
Others are the President of Panama Ricardo Martinelli, President of Peru, Olanta Humala and founder of the Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab.
Ambassador Sinjela has described the Head of State’s visit to Switzerland as a rare opportunity adding that the Zambian mission in Geneva was looking forward to warmly receive the Zambian Head of State.
She explained that it was a rare honour for the Geneva mission to receive the Head of State because unlike the General Assembly meetings in New York which are always attended by world leaders every year, the ILO meetings in Geneva were more attended at the level of minister and senior government officials.
Ambassador Sinjela said apart from giving a keynote address to the ILO Conference, President Sata will on Friday meet the Tripartite African delegations under the aegis of the African Union (AU), meet the Swiss-African Business Community before meeting Zambians based in Geneva at the Ambassador’s residence.
President Sata arrives in Geneva from London where he was one of the top guests at the Diamond Jubilee, marking the Queen’s 60-year reign as the head of the monarchy.
Zambia’s advance delegation in Geneva includes Information,Broadcasting and Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda and his Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga, Acting Labour Commissioner Mukamasole Mundale, Director of Occupational Safety and Health Chivunda Kakoma,Director of Social Security Trevor Kaunda and Chief Planner Owen Mgemezulu.
Union representatives from Zambia attending the UN labour conference in Geneva include Secretary General of the Zambia Congress of Trade
Union (ZCTU) Roy Mwaba, Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia (FFTUZ) Joyce-Nonde Simukoko and Zambia National Union of Teachers
President Henry Kapenda.
Representatives from the employers sector in Zambia include Zambia Federation of Employers (ZFE) Executive Director Harrington Chibanda,Director-General of NAPSA Charles Mpundu, Workers Compensation Fund Control Board Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Lungu Nkumbula and ZESCO
Senior Manager, Human Resources Chanda Mwila.
ILO is the only tripartite UN agency with government, employer and worker representatives. This tripartite structure makes the ILO a unique forum at which the governments and the social partners of the economy of the 184 member states can freely and openly debate and elaborate labour standards and policies.

Guys this is the job of the Head of State. Who do you suppose should go in his place?
And who did he want to go in place of RB when he was condemning him? What go around, comes around.
GANI ………………the whole Europe is equivalent to the size of DRC so if you hear of London and Geneva don’t think that there thousand miles apart. OK you assume his role as president and start globe trotting. Not even your wife give u a vote.
#1.1 Gani..hop u understand why UPND are usually called Bitter and Tribal coz of careless bickering like u have done..Going to search for investers [RB] overseas is not the same as being a high-level guests [SATA] at ILO you get that?
Ba LT you can do better than this, remember, everyone knows you are better than ZWD in terms of biasness, i have always liked your titles, now that title is not fair, Sata has just moved outside Africa, calling him globe-trotter is not unfair but a lie. Grow up
I agree mwe.Â
Maybe someone is just excited to use that term minus checking what it really means – which has become very common with these fly-by-night online journalists.
Looks like they have changed it now.Â
Where is the keynote economic speech that was delivered by Ukwa at the commonwealth business function? We want to know what the president talked about!
If what MCS is done now is Globe Trotting, what then should we refer to what RBB was doing?
Global Warming? coz he(RB) was burning so much fuel flying around the globe…. He still does….LOL
But this man is ugly mwe bantu and always angry. Sata try smiling, it doesnt cost a thing.
ThIs ia an ugly job especially where you have 85% unemployment in the country, so the wife smiles on his behalf while he ponders how he will deliver on his promises.
This is what Ka Roy has been bootlicking for. Jumping from MMD to PF.
They are calling him that just to remind him of what he used to call RB! Now it`s his turn and he`s barely at home….When he was in opposition, he didn`t understand that as a head of state there are moments when it`s inevitable to travel! I wonder what he can say to that now
Pafwaka how soon you forget. It is the same treatment you were dishing to Rupiah. Rupiah was even better he was not galavanting with thandie. Or is Christine traveling as Ukwa’s personal physician? Wouldn’t be suprised with Ukwa’s perchant for employing relatives!
is he in good health..>?
Sata took his cool when he was sworn in as fifth president of Zambia, unlike RB whoimmediately was elected took to the road and toured the whole world even for trips he could have delegated or turned down. Sata stayed over three months without moving out of the country. so yu cant compare him to RB for once.
so the title is very misleading, you can do better ba LT. Dont immitate that partisan online blogger.
Ba first lady is number one zoona..nicely togged.
Totally agreed…. she looks great….
Kaseba in modelling mode ka.
At least Sata has been overseas for 3 times now whereas durin this same period RB had done 10 trips. Hope he will be attending only important meetings. Its wait and see any way.
its ok there is nothing wrong ba opposition
some titles are just shameful…..LT don’t be like ZWD a tonga blog!
Sata stayed put for a few months because he was medically unfit to travel. Ever since the patch up job in India he has been on the go non stop.
HAHAHA VERY FUN THO TRUE
Christine is a tomboy. She has boyish features! Maureen was and is still the lady*
At least she has more brains than your entire family combined.Maureen is no much for the first lady not even mannerisms.
I just love the first lady’s outfit.I can’t stand those bubu style flamboyant robes. And by the way your excellency, in the UK one does not walk in front of one’s wife(Ladies First) LOL
Says who ? You shield your wife from the likes of under5
HAHAHAH
#18.1 I know but he looks like Mr Banda going ku mabala lol
NOTHING WRONG ITS DUTY FOR HE.
STOP BEING LIKE ZWD WHO CONDEMS EVERYTHING.
# 1 and # 2. Read the article and comprehend. Note the number of zambian delegates from all sectors are represented and above all, the minister of labour and his permanent secretary, various directors and labour leaders are all attending this conference. What is the head of state for at this meeting? Sinjela says normally head of states do not attend such meetings. These are facts as they stand in practice and Mr Sata would have done well to go to Germany or Russia to woo investors for Zambia, than attend an over represented meeting.
This is the Diamond Jubilee and it was expected of him to be here.Mr Sata does not need to come here to Germany but can send experts in the field. It is called German Efficiency.
President Sata is one of the high-level guests invited..
Have u even read the article bwana..
Crown Plaza is alright for distance to the palace but I personally feel that our first couple should have been booked into the Dorchester.Other than that let them have a wonderful time here in the UK.
What globe-trotting naimwe? Does MCS come any close to Ala Bee?
#18 Â This is the Diamond Jubilee and it was expected of him to be there.Mr Sata does not need to come here to Germany but can send experts in the field. It is called German Efficiency.
@26. Pippa give us a break. Who tells you that simply because it was a diamond jubilee Sata was expected to be in London? Not even countries were queen Elizabeth is head of state did heads of gov’t show up. Australian, Canadian and the newzealand prime ministers didn’t bother to show up despite the fact that the queen is their head of state. Why are you lot so desperate to big up Ukwa?
On the contrary I am not PF but a proud Zambian born who is proud of her country and her Zambian people as a whole not just some tribal grouping.
Ba LT na imwe it’s occupational Health and Safety not efyo mwapilibula it distorts the meaningÂ
President Sata is one of the high-level guests invited..English bane..
We hear Zimbabweans in london protested against Sata for his support of Mugabe. Has the Zambian press picked it up?
9 zimbabweans
I like the African structure behind the first lady. Her body guard I suppose. I wouldn`t mind mwe.
Met him in London yesterday!!!..not a pleasant guy!!!..He seems to forget that voters put him in office!!!..and cannot grasp the idea that dual nationality will bring the country serious money!!!..see how successful it was for Ghana!!!..honest to god truth I felt like giving him my Zambian passport and telling him where to get off!!!!
Does anyone know anything about the keynote speech Sata made at the Commonwealth luncheon and the protests planned by the Zimbos? Guys in UK, tell us what transpired before we’re fed with propaganda by either side.
TYPICAL AFRICAN HUSBAND…. WHY NOT WALK SIDE BY SIDE WITH WIFE?
So when someone says “globe-trotting” then they mean RB? WHy should RB be a measure of anything PF does?
Yaba! Kaseba with fake hair..show your african nature! Ukwa’s face very scary and ever angry! No wonder he cracks ungly jokes, reflects his personality, very unpleasant!!!
#5 masn,
I agree with you, this man never smiles and prefers to look scary. I feel sorry for those that work close to him day by day.

Get a life
Kaseba too excited ,young Thandie was there several times i doubt if you will go back there as so called …..lady you arrogant GP.
The lady studied medicine there!
Good afternoon
As usual, some people are more concerned about the looks on the president’s face and the appearance of the First Lady than the purpose of the trip.
If you want to see a smiling face, why not go and watch the clowns at a circus? A serious expression on the face is a manifestation of a serious mind and a strong will. I personally prefer a leaders that will stand up boldly and defend the interests of our poor people with a serious face than one that will come smiling all the way to the “rulers of the universe.”
HE MCS was meeting the Queen this made so people green with envy,
To try and upstage Our democratically elected President,,,HH & William Banda arranged the burning of PF chitenges in Livingstone.,
The failed riots in Lusaka( zp sorted them)
Paid 50 Zimbabweans to give HE MCS brooms( only 9 Zimbabweans turned rest got drunk)
HH your silly illiterate ploys have failed give it up
Zambians understand why all week the Tonga tribal party has been making noise in their effort to paint HE MCS bad in Zambia, because the queen and British welcomed him with open armsÂ
How low is HH gonna stop before admitting Tonga 12% vote can never produce a president
I think let s call it MCS’s tour of duty.
@Nine Chale, your president was just angry with the embarrasment he received from Zimbabweans of sorry he is to du.ll to be embarrased about such.
#38 Nine Chale,
You are not being realistic with your comment, this president is always wearing a long face, doesn’t light up at any occasion and that is not normal. I hope you watched the group of heads of state from various countries meeting the queen at Marlborough house, they were all jovial and relaxed except Mr Sata. Being always grumpy cannot be a sign of ‘defending the interests of our people’ but instils fear to those near him. Maybe it is cultural.
Please be real, what is high level about Prince Asturias of Spain, the President of Costa Rica, Laura Chinchila, President of Tunisia Moncef Marzouki and Italian President Giorgio Napolitano? None of the G8 leaders was there, this is nothing but a congregation of time wasters. I would like to hear what Pamberi-e-Ukwa said to Zambians in London. I hope they told him off to put brakes on his motormouth which is embarrassing us all over!
Statistics are slowly creeping up to match RB’s number of trips.
9 Zimbabwean only?
Oh please I don’t think HH in his right mind would sponsor themÂ
Surely the first lady could at least have covered her legs by wearing tights? Her legs look bare and awful.
Sata the torturer of innocent UPND youths! Sata has imported torture methods of his friend Mugabe! Sata has authorise his old mentality of the old Northern Rhodesia police brutality! Sata is not our Father to decide what we Zambians wants now! Sata is an illiterate person who grew in the time when his father the Village Headman was brutalising innocent villagers luck Kaunda removed him from Mpika! Sata is a liar who promised to let the constitution be made with PF interference but his now double tongued! What a shame
Our first lady not only has brains  (she is a doctor after all) but also has good dress sense – how can you wear tights when it’s so flipping warm? Peace sour grapes!!
Dear Sulky
Being a doctor does not mean she knows everything. Â There is no point in finding excuses for her – she would have been more comfortable and trendy in trendy, high-heeled strappy sandals, which she would have worn without tights and got away with it. Â I therefore stand my ground and declare that court shoes without tights are a no-no regardless of the weather – especially if one is first lady.Â
Nsofwa Butala, U look gud
