The MMD has said it is not planning to expel Felix Mutati from the party following his alleged connections with the Patriotic Front (PF).The former ruling party says the story, which was carried in the Post Newspaper is a mere fabrication and simple imagination meant to cause confusion in the MMD.
Mr Mutati who is MMD chairman for Commerce and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament has been accused of persuading some of the party members to join the PF because of lack of confidence in the newly elected party president Nevers Mumba.MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe said in a statement in Lusaka that it was untrue that its member and leader of the opposition in parliament was facing expulsion from the party.
“There have been numerous press reports to the effect that Felix Mutati is facing expulsion from the MMD. This is a blatant lie,” he said.Major Kachingwe said Mr Mutati was a member of the party who expressed his right in line with Article nine (9) D of the party’s constitution which says that a member has a right to elect, be elected or appointed to any position of authority within the party.
On Mutati’s position as leader of the opposition in parliament, Major Kachingwe said the party had no intention to change the status quo.Mr Mutati who is Member of Parliament (MP) for Lunte constituency was among six other contenders who lost the MMD party presidential bid to
Dr Mumba.

Mutati should swallow his pride. He is fit as manager and not as party president. He is not a politician who is charismatic. He can not oppose SATA.
Nevers must be tested in 2016 when MMD goes to the convention and he must not be seen to eliminate competitors on flimsy grounds. If MMD and Nevers make a mistake to touch Mutati, they will be touching the nerve-centre of what has remained of the party and before long, it’ll be dead wood.

Sad the Post news papers is no longer relied upon by the Zambians. This demonstrates that Zambians will not settle for lies or peddlers of lies such as the Post media. Its a shame the paper that boasted of transparency is now backing a regime whose head is receiving protests in foreign countries. Again today, Mr Sata is facing protests in Geneva from the Zimbabweans who have a strong and effective net work to cordinate their protests over leaders who support Dictator Robert Mugabe. Yesterday Mr Sata faced protests in London that included at the Zambian embassy. These reports are unreported by the Post to Zambians at home, what a shame!. We will keep the bloggers update.
Felix is too docile to be Leader of Opposition in the House. No wonder people suspect him of being in bed with the PF. I actually think the PF have some ‘dirt’ on this guy and are using it to hold him by his nuts. How else could one explain his silence in light of Ukwa’s gross abuse of power. We’re now back to the UNIP one party state! God help us.
This is just a smear campaign. Mutati is leader of teh opposition in Parliament that’s why he’s being attacked.
How many times is the MMD going to start the end? Every time something happens, haters go “this is the start of the end”, and then the end never happens. Don’t you get tired?
This must be a lesson to those supporting the running mate for vice president position. It can become tag of war and the vice president would undermine the president one way or the other so that he replaces him. It can be better though.
Damage control. Nonetheless MMD is cursed with being ruled by people woken fro sleep (oustisders) First it was FTJ who brought LPM in the hope of being shielded from corruption cases. Then LPM brought RB to gunner support from the east only to pass away before Maureen could actually be put as a successor. RB goes and picks a Nevers in the hope that the hothead will help him deflect the pending consequences of his short & corrupt tenure. I hope PF will not fall in the same trap. There is nothing left for Mutati in the MMD just the same way there was nothing for the true blue in LPM’s time. Equally there was nothing for LPM’s Family tree in RB’s Chee Chwee Chwee.

I pity those who view Mutati as presidential material. This guy has never outlined any achievements—for all the years he has served as minister. The guy has relied on a government salary thru out his life. He has never run a business/company.
