FDD President Edith Nawakwi-Zambia is ready for a Woman President

Forum for Democracy and Development President Edith Nawakwi has become the second opposition leader to be invited for the Rio conference in Brazil on climatic change by president Michael Sata.

She joins National Restoration Party -NAREP- President Elias Chipimo, who will be accompanying President Sata.

President Sata, says he invited the two opposition leaders because matters of national development cut across partisan lines.

He says a meaningful and progressive opposition is an essential ingredient to national peace, stability, development and poverty reduction.

Mr Sata says the PF Government looks forward to different ways of working with the opposition.

He says the country should never lose focus but always appreciate that Zambia’s greatest assets are its people and rich natural resource endowment.

Mr Sata says it is important for politicians to rise above partisan lines and aim for constructive engagement.

President Sata is among the key speakers at the high-level conference, which will be attended by a number of world leaders and heads of Governments.

This is contained in a statement released by his Special assistant for Press and Public relations – George Chellah.

  8. HH should know that is is a curse to insult old people. Tongas are normally very polite and humble people, but what I am seeing is that they are competing and beating the Bembas at rudeness and everything negative.

    Two wrongs do not make a right, so if HH feels agrieved by Sata, he should show Sata what to do by not stooping to his level and turning the other cheek. Right now, Sata has the higher moral ground and more public sympathy – many thanks to HH behaving like a roiting teenager.

    • @Madam T, and what role is that: To insult the president and claim he is after eliminating them? HH said Sata has no plan. Fine. I would rather follow someone who has no plan yet achieves his goal than one with a master plan and fails. Without a plan, as HH stated, Sata got into State House. With a Grandest plan of all HH come in third. Without a plan, Sata is impressing the international community. With a master plan HH is falling out of favour from the very international community he cries to. Not all plans work. It is even better not to have a plan than to have a bad one.

  14. Bravo Mr President!!! This is what is required in a mature democracy where the opposition is being engaged in national issues constructively. The two opposition leaders have displayed constructive criticism and stand out of the others who think anything from the ruling party should be criticized.
    Zambia is for us all, let us support progressive policies Zambians not unnecessary criticism on the streets.

Engage parties that have a following because you will win them over to your fold, else you will be judged to be narrow, myopic, tribal, nepotic culminating into a CNP.

  17. UPND urgently need to change leaders. HH is NOT the man. First you lose the Vice Presidency of the nation, then you miss out on a historic trip to Brazil. Brazil is next big economy after China and has an economy better than that of the UK. Let us hope the scheduled UPND convention takes place this year.

Both Nawakwi and Chipimo do not have any councellors or MPs, on what basis did Sata select them to travel with him besides both of them hailing from the north? Honestly, I think the spirit of One Zambia One Nation is dead. Just how any sane president can hope to rule the whole country on such a tribally inclined agenda spooks me deeply. These seeds of division Sata is sowing will break this country apart.

He would rather use his money to fly to Brazil and back and that is the diffirence with these other so called opposition leaders with not mp,s in parliament.   31. I think when a president wants to invite people from opposition it must be the MPs who are under a relevant committee. Opposition leaders are not going to do anything and will not contribute to national development. Mr Sata please Mps from opposition to accompany you not those tourists you are taking. In addition you must learn to balance things, this Bemba alignment in what ever you do will bring you down.

All those insulting or opposing this move should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope Sata continues to involve all opposition it will certainly help Zambia move forward.   76. Why are some bloggers so obsessed with tribal issues especially when issues involved are not necessarily tribal. What people should understand is that Elias Chipimo’s invitation probably has more to do with NAREP’s manifesto which has some very innovative, progressive, and original ideas on alternative energy sources.
