Former Luapula Member of Parliament Peter Machungwa has charged that the Patriotic Front government has fallen short of people’s expectations.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Qfm news, Dr. Machungwa said it will be difficult for Zambians to have faith in a government that has drifted away from its campaign promises.
Dr. Machungwa’s statement comes in a wake of an appeal by republican vice president Guy Scott on Zambians to have faith in the PF administration stating that it is on course to implement its campaign promises.
The former Luapula Parliamentarian has described the Vice President’s appeal as unnecessary stating that government needs to get to work as opposed to offering lip service to Zambians.
Dr. Machungwa has singled out high unemployment levels as one area that needs urgent attention and further urges the government to accelerate the implementation of their employment strategies.

I don’t agree with Dr. Machungwa for the following reasons:
1. The uneployement rate left by the MMD GRZ was higher than what it is under PF GRZ because, effectively PF has created employment through the creation of Muchinga province and new districts.
2. I am not aware of any massive retrenchments which could have resulted in  increased unemployment.Â
3. I know that the new mines in Luanshya and up the North-western province have been hiring workers.
4. Soon, we will have a lot of employment when the new Lusaka water reticulation system project takes off, not to mention work on the Great North road and other roads in Western province. Dr, Machungwa should just keep his cool and see Zambia begin to develop.
Freedom of expression in Zambia is treasurable. Let people enjoy their freedom of speech. Dr Machungwa has a right to speak, just as Dr Guy Scot has the same right to speak. Let us not insult them, but listen and reason with them.

If machungwa and his mmd created the unemployment problem, I expect you to say the same about Sata, Scott, sakeni, Luo, gbm, chikwanda etc. All these trash was in power between 1991 and 2001. He is part of the problem and not the solution.

Everyone knows there is unemployment in the land. Can you PHD holders provide answers instead of justing stating that which even PF itself knows. Freedom of Speech in Zambia can only be enjoyed on the internet under the cover of anonymous blogging. We can not freely say the things we write on this blog in the streets of lusaka. However you can say those same things in democratic countries like Britain and the USA. Look at the threats by GBM against HH. Look at how many PF kaponya’s condone such threats.
