Judge Chikopa’s stay is abuse of public resources – APNAC

Share

FILE: President Michael Sata with Malawian High Court Judge Lovemore Chikopa (second l), Justice Naboth Mwanza (r) rand Justice Thomas Ndhlovu (far l) after a swearing-in at State House.

The African Parliamentarian Network against Corruption (APNAC) has challenged government to state clearly what Malawian judge Lovemore Chikopa is still doing in the country when the tribunal he is supposed to head has not yet commenced sitting.
APNAC chairperson Cornelius Mweetwa says the continued stay of Judge Chikopa in Zambia is a serious abuse of public resources and that it sends a clear message that he will be compromised.

Speaking to QFM, Mr. Mweetwa notes that Judge Chikopa’s recent appearance at statehouse for the swearing in ceremony of the recently appointed MMD parliamentarians is a source of concern which government needs to explain.

Mr. Mweetwa says the foreign Judge’s stay in the country is prejudicial as it implies that he already knows that the outcome of the court proceedings will be in favor of the state.

In may this year, President Michael Sata appointed and swore in Malawi high court judge Lovemore Chikopa to chair a tribunal expected to investigate the alleged interference by the suspended judges in the case involving the development bank of Zambia and the post newspapers, JNC investment holdings and Mutembo Nchito.

The tribunal was however put on hold after two of the suspended judges filed an injunction against President Sata’s decision to suspend them and to set up a tribunal to probe them.

  1. mr satana kingcobra tell us about chikopa, what is he doing here, which money are you feed this ngaru, after your term satana we are going to arest you,no joks.

  2. Cornelius Mweetwa? Isn’t he that chap from the United Party of Narrow-minded Dunderheads. This chap has abandoned his constituents in Choma and making noise here, Mr Mweetwa your people in Chief Singani’s area need you.

    • Issue based better!!…..Chikopa ,a justice professional, must know that obtaining favours and vantage before a case he is to preside on is corruption. Corruption cases on which he was called to preside are compromised in the same way, integrity demands living life above board, least he is called, thief and corrupt judge!

    • Maxwell,
What is your view on the continued stay of Judge Chikopa on tax payers money as well as his attendance at Govt business?

    • Mweetwa like any other Tax-paying Zambian has the right to question what Chikopa is doing!!!
PF ISN’T FUNDING HIS STAY, so he better pack up & go!!!!!! If Sata lacks advisers, HE SHOULD KNOW THAT THIS IS A CLEAR-CUT CASE OF ABUSE OF STATE FUNDS, the longer the guy stays, the more indefensible the case becomes!! If Chikopa was a man of INTEGRITY, he would have asked to be excused & called later after preliminary issues had been resolved!!! The judges IN QUESTION, WILL HAVE A SOLID CASE TO HAVE HIM EXCUSED FROM THE TRIBUNAL, AS HE HAS BEEN & CONTINUES TO BE INFLUENCED ENOUGH, TO BE UNBIASED DURING THE TRIBUNAL’S SITTING!!!!!!!!

    • Maxwel ndiwe Galu iwe.tel us real issues not what mweetwa has done or not done.the issue is about chikopa and you are telling us rubbish.

    • Narrow minded? Seems every time UPND comes up you use the same tired line so can only wonder who in truth is the real narrow minded dunderhead. Sorry, but carrying around so much hate and hostility will do you no good in life, Maxwell. You’ll end up with a face stuck in permanent frown like Mr. Sata’s and people start to accuse you of being the bitter one.

Meanwhile, there is a real issue of why Zambia has been paying all of this judge’s expenses at the 5-star (for months!) when he is pretty much dong nothing. Not only does this compromise his integrity, but wouldn’t you (as a PF man) rather see the money go to improve our schools, clinics, roads, and to pay farmers for last year’s maize….. or, at the very least, to offset the cost of some people’s 100% pay increase?

  3. I cant believe that these guys can keep this Judge in Zambia at the expense of Zambians just to prove a point. Even Satana knows that he is abusing our resources.

  4. deporting a rwandan priest who was on God’s mission in zambia leaving chikopa just chewing tax payers money

  5. What was Achimwene Chikopa doing at state house during swearing in session? This Zambia is slowly being fed to the dogs. why has a Catholic Priest arrested. This Arch Bishop mpundu should be recalled by the vatican, retired in public interest. Him and Ukwa are on the same page kaili ukwa ni mulamu….

  6. LEAVE CHIKOPA ALONE, WE NEED TO PACK SOME TRUVADA FOR HIM BEFORE WE SEND HIM BACK. KABIMBA IS STILL ORGANISING

  7. What does this president need to do for the opposition or indeed anyone to raise a dossier for an impeachment motion? Sata has broken the constitution on more than one occasion and his leadership is of no benefit whatsoever for our nation. The painful fact is that he is in that position to simply enrich himself and his family and have a life long income and retirement benefits that he does not deserve at all.

  8. If the poor Rwandan catholic priest had pimped his sisters to Ukwa, he would still be in Zambia now. Alternatively, if he wanted to stay in the country he should rendered his services to Masebo and her aunt Nkomeshya.

  9. Cornelius Mweetwa this is not Unzasu politics. You are not yet ripe,i think you need 10 years or more from now to be ready.

  10. You guys who support our money being paid to a foreigner who is doing nothing need to be examined. No2 address the issue cornelius has raised without looking at who or where he comes from. This is a serious issue in the interest of the nation regardless of who has raised it. If anything Cornelious needs to be supported. No 13 honestly why?No9? Try and travel and see if any country in the world would behave like this to a foreigner

  11. Chikopa seem not bothered obtaining monentary agains for undelivered services neither does his moral conscience see obtaining vantage &money not worked for is only for thieves, corrupt person, and for a unsound minded Judge. A justice professional, must know that obtaining favours and vantage before a case he is to preside on is corruption. The very Corruption cases on which he was called to preside were compromised in the same way, integrity demands living one’s life above board, least he is called, thief and corrupt judge!

  12. Mweetwa like any other Tax-paying Zambian has the right to question what Chikopa is doing!!!

  13. I wonder which right thinking Zambian would support the continued stay of judge chikopa.lets be real people.lets not support rubbish even if we are staunch p.f suppoters.

  14. Is that Judge Chikopa employed in Malawi or by Sata? If Malawi is paying his monthly salary then he is more than worsting Malawian tobacco money. At sametime I feel pit on him, am sure he looks better these days than the way he looked at that picture- like a destitute.

  15. The judiciary has been bought by Pf , the cost incurred by judge chikopa will be slapped on the suspended judges.

  16. THIS IS GOOD REASON FOR DEMONSTRATIONS AT STATE HOUSE COZ THIS CHIKOPA IS A DRAIN TO NATIONAL RESOURCES WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT, HIS JUDGEMENT WILL DEFINATELY BE BIASED TOWARDS THE STATE.GO BACK TO MALAWI WED MEN TO MEN-WOMEN TO WOMEN. GO AWAY CHIKOPA GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY, WE DON’T WANT YOU HERE. YOU ARE THIEF BECOZ YOU ARE LEAPING WHERE YOU DID NOT SORE, LEAVE ZAMBIA NOW

    • Ichi sungu!! Ala bwa fyia!!

“Leaping” where you did not “Sore” – translation: “uku toloka” epo “ta chi kalipe!!!”

      Smoking “seeded” Cannabis!!!!

  17. Chikopa is another thief. He is not ashamed getting paid for doing thing. Please CNP let you idoit friend go back home. We dont want him in Zambia.

  18. It is TIME PEOPLE POWER GOT TO WORK AGAIN!!!! This is not “Money in our pockets!!”, rather, “MONEY IN CHIKOPA’S POCKET” for basically doing nothing for guess who knows when!!!!

PEOPLE, LETS START HONKING OUR HORNS IN CAIRO ROAD EVERY @12 30hrs for 10 minutes everyday till Chikopa leaves Zed!!!!!

  19. You mean to to tell me that chikopo is still getting laid at zambian taxpayer’s expense? But mu zambia ndimwe vizende.

  20. Judge Chi-copper is in zambia doing what in the west is euphemistically called “working holiday” at the expense of your poor ass.By now he is compromised beyond repair.

  21. Chipoka must go… we have no confidence in this judge and can come out of his ruling is as corrupt as his stay here in Zambia

  22. Who is this judge Chikopo.Just from his name, how can u be called Chikopo and people thinks u can do sensible things.

  23. Whether Mweetwa has abdoned his constituents or not,he has a point on this issue of the continued stay in Zambia of judge Chikopa.Sata and the Minister of Justice should be made to answer for this terrible abuse of Zambian resources
tThis Silly Judge should be made to understand that his continued stay is a sign of compromise which will cloud his judgement should the appeal go through and allow the tribunal to go ahead.

  24. Judge Chikopa is not principled and his judgement will definetly be biased. Does this judge have a family and friends in Malawi or has the PF government brought his family and is domiciled at Pamodzi Hotel (or whereever he is staying) ? Definetly he should be able to miss his family and friends.

  25. Pliz Chikopo, poor Judge go back to Malawiiiiiiiiii, BaSata hav u lost yo touch for the poor???? But mu Zambia mwenaaaaaaa aweeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Bakaponya mwamona mwatuletelelelaaaaa, me i wanted Dr, Mutesa and Miyanda to rule Zambia nomba ine ati PamaFiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  26. ITS GOOD TO HEAR SOME WORDS OF CONCERN FROM THESE WATCHDOG ORGANISATION,TIZ IS NOW PF AND CORRUPT THEY ARE DOING NOTHING R.LIFUKA LACKS PRINCIPLES HE HAS KILLED TIZ WE MISS THE LATE ALFRED CHANDA.EVEN THE EMPLOYING OF POST NEWSPAPER IN GOVERNMENT POSTS IS MORALLY WRONG ITS CORRUPTION BUT NO ONE HAS TALKED ABOUT THE SAME.

  27. Judge chikopa is not staying in zambia he came the day before the ceremony to meet the president then concided with the ceremony, zambians have lost money enough to build a house for the 13 million people each and you complain of a hotel bill….RB and sons also have fat accounts and you are still quite….lets not be too selfish

You reported for work in time, they greeted you and give you responsibility.. After that something happened, they tell you to wait untill they are organised or some missing things are sort out to enable you and them work efficiently. WOULD YOU BOOT OUT IF THEY TAKE TIME TO COME AND ASSURE YOU THAT YOU CAN NOW COMMENCE YOUR WORK ?????????? WHERE IS YOUR TRUSTWORTHY, HONEST AND OBEDIENCE ????????? KANJIMAANO :d
