PF secretary general Wynter Kabimba has urged PF parliamentarians to ensure that they work towards fulfilling the party manifesto. Mr. Kabimba has noted that the PF leadership will not hesitate to impose sanctions should some of its members of parliament fail to perform.

The PF secretary general has said the party leadership is committed to ensuring that it delivers to the Zambians in line with the current party manifesto.

But when asked by QFM news how the PF leadership rates the performance of its parliamentarians following President Sata’s observation that the PF parliamentarians were not working according to his expectations, Mr. Kabimba declined to comment.

Last week, President Sata said the PF parliamentarians have not done much in trying to deliver development and urged them to work towards addressing the challenges being faced in the country.

Meanwhile, the PF General Secretary has made a passionate appeal for dialogue between employers and the workers following the impasse surrounding the new minimum wage.

Mr. Kabimba said the misunderstanding which has arisen following the over 100 percent upward adjustment of the minimum wage is unfortunate and might negatively affect economic performance.

He said the party is concerned that the misunderstandings have led to the death of a Chinese miner at Collum Coal Mine.

‘We as the party in government are concerned that this matter is not being handled very well between the workers and the employers. We would like to appeal to the concerned parties to embrace dialogue and not confrontation over this matter,” Mr. Kabimba said.[pullquote]“You surely cannot pick out a single riot at Collum and say the riots are now countrywide. I don’t think that is the correct position. Yes, we do have a few pockets of industrial unrest but these are not countywide,” Mr. Kabimba said.[/pullquote]

He however dismissed reports that the labour unrest following the new minimum wage has a national character.

“You surely cannot pick out a single riot at Collum and say the riots are now countrywide. I don’t think that is the correct position. Yes, we do have a few pockets of industrial unrest but these are not countywide,” Mr. Kabimba said.

Mr. Kabimba said the party is in full support of the move taken by Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda to revise the minimum wage.

The PF Secretary General was speaking on the sidelines of a two day dialogue meeting between the ruling party and the labour movement in Lusaka organised by German NGO, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.

And in his presentation, Mr. Kabimba warned that corruption in the PF will weaken the very fabric on which it was founded.

He said corruption pushed the MMD out of government and warned that the same could happen to the PF if it fails to root out corruption from the party.[pullquote]“I know there is corruption even in the PF and as SG, am warning that this cancer will eat up the PF the same way it did with the MMD if left unchecked,” Mr. Kabimba warned.[/pullquote]

“I know there is corruption even in the PF and as SG, am warning that this cancer will eat up the PF the same way it did with the MMD if left unchecked,” Mr. Kabimba warned.

Mr. Kabimba also charged that the PF will not provide cover to any former MMD leader who has joined the PF seeking protection from corruption allegations.

He said the PF will not provide sanctuary to all those that have corruption allegations hanging over their heads. “We want clean members, all those running away from the MMD for fear of prosecution are not welcome in the PF.”

  1. “Meanwhile, the PF General Secretary has made a passionate appeal for dialogue between employers and the workers following the impasse surrounding the new minimum wage” When did you realize that, have you told kaMandevu and Sakeni about the need for this? CNPs, shaa!!

  2. IT WAS ALLEGED THAT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ZAMBIA FEBERATION OF EMPLOYERS WAS SURMONED BY THE POLICE FOR INCITING EMPLOYERS AGAINST THE MINIMUM WAGE. WHAT IS THE LATEST ON THIS MATTER. IT APPEARS THE PF GOVT HAS CREATED ITS OWN PROBLEMS AND INSTEAD OF RESOLVING THE ISSUE AT HAND THEY ARE BLAMING MMD, ETC. THEY SHOULD NOT BE SOLVING PROBLEMS OF OWN CREATION LIKE FIRE FIGHTING HERE AND THERE. FACKSON SHOULD TAKE THE BLAME 100%

  3. We expect PF MP’s to work tirelessly and ensure that they bring development to their constituences. Its really high time they started developing and they shud be mindful that 2016 is not far and pipo nowadays are very much awake and cannot be heated anymore.

  4. For those of us who knew Michael Sata as a man of action when he was Lusaka Governor and Minister in various positions in the MMD got, there is a deep sense of worry that the Michael Sata sitting in State House is not the same person we knew.

TClearly there is no presidential leadership in Zambia. The visibility of the President has been reduced to issuing press statements, creating districts, shuffling cabinet and swearing in people and attacking the opposition leaders. These are the times people hear of President Sata.

The man of action we knew was everywhere in those days . He would show up unannounced at places of work and everybody will be on their toes working just in case Sata showed up and caught them pants down…

    • I disagree with you comrade bootlicker. It is the same Sata, he is just discovering that running a country is more complicated than just running a ministry or cleaning streets and toilets. Sata is a Bully and he governs based on instilling fear in his subordinates. This is why he was successful in the ministries where he worked. To run a country, though, requires a different set of skill set and bullying and fear mongering will not work. I believe things will get worse in the PF government, once they realize they are failing. They will start pointing fingers at each other and there will be chaos in PF, just give it another year.

  5. For once Kabimba is trying to issue a statement a view we have always held that there is CORRUPTION in PF govt. This has been confirmed in the other nedia that GBM is corruptly obtaining business from govt by openly boasting that he has to recover his money spent on PF party. GBM like many corrupt PF members are untouchable and Mr Sata knows it well but will do nothing about it. Instead they are covered up by the party and its president. Time is drawing near for there was a time such statements from Kabimba was boko haram but today admission has began and worse things are still coming until capitulation of corruption will be known as hypocrisy within the ranks of PF government.

  6. The Sata we have now is holed up in State House and the surprises he makes now is to show up in some foreign country. Now most PF members and civil Servants are beginning to sense that the president is holed up in State House and does not move around anymore and frankly speaking nobody knows what he is thinking or doing.

So it is no surprise that Kabimba has realised that his MPs are not working and corruption in PF is gaining traction at an alarming rate because the president is virtually absent and his ministers or people are clueless because this is pretty much a party without a plan as it appears.

There are big issues that would demand presidential comments, but he is quiet. Almost a year in power, there is still no clear direction ..

    • I think the problem is the MMD are feeling embarrassed at the changes the PF government is making. The president is working; his team has generated some interesting ideas (they have made some mistakes of course (that is acceptable)) – but their approach is pro-poor socio-economy. E.g lowering borrowing rates, increasing mining royalty tax, increasing university education (and by the way they are building these universities ka), creating new districts for a decentralized management, new constitution, increasing the minimum wage – etc. These things don’t look like a serious direction to MMD because they are in direct opposite to capitalistic tendencies that contributed to the increase in economic inequality in Zambia. Under MMD rural poverty was 80% as compared to 37% in urban areas.

  7. “Meanwhile, the PF General Secretary has made a passionate appeal for dialogue between employers and the workers following the impasse surrounding the new minimum wage” I thought  this was supposed to be the first thing to do. Its like we are always in reverse gear. This Bwato thing  is quite remarkable with all players paddling in their own direction. Those of you who have done physics will agree with me that the resultant vector is zero. in simple terms we are going nowhere with this type of paddling. What a boat full of directionless paddlers! I rest my case!

  8. PF loves trolling .who let these clowns out.each one of them coming out talk talk and wer is the father of the nation when all this is happening and he is not saying anything.

  9. disaster in waiting, the govt used short cut at arriving at the revised minimum wage than dialogue which went trerrible wrong resulting in death, now they r call for dialogue, whats next ?? intimidation baaba jst arest and fire any one who wanna strick and charge ….

  10. I think even a 2 year old has better intellect than thre PF goverment. Where on earth have you ever heard of a governement that passes a labor law —-without consulting key labor stakeholders and turns round to advise the so called employees and employers to dialogue. The law is effective, what would the dialogue about?

  11. The country needs clear policy and developmental direction and leadership that will spur benefits to trickle down to the very poorest of our society.
People want result-oriented statements from the govt leadership and politicking all the time.
Haphazard and disorganized pronouncements only takes the country backwards

  12. Ba Bootlicker, i totally agree with you on this one….i equally voted for Sata based on or rather on an assumption of his previous man of action reference to his hard working….I can only guess his fight into plot one had put more constrains weathering away his motto of action man in the process. But one difference of PF to that of MMD is the fact that they are admitting to wrongs and close friendships with the president is not tolerated like before but yet again time will tell. Personally his come to plot at his age is one good sign of resting a lot and keeping it low in plot one.

  13. CORRUPTION will be worse shortly when Mr Sata appoints GBM as vice president in a move that will see demotion of Dr Guy Scott take up the post Minister of Finance, while Chikwanda uncle to Sata leaves government on account of CORRUPTION by PF members led by GBM. Kabimba is conceeding on this point of PF members involved in corruption. This family government is also preparing Sampa, nephew to Sata for senior post to consolidate corruption not to be detected among the ruling family members. Watch my space, announcements will come soon, sources from state house has leaked.

    • l cant believe you that ignorant to believe a poorly written report at the doghouse atributed to anonimous sources intended to gin uo the base.GUY SCOTT IS CO FOUNDER OF PF AND WILL NEVER BE DEMOTED OR REMOVED

  14. Prof. Oliver Saasa says “……….. especially if they are killing as a result of the misinterpretation of poorly communicated decisions by the Government”. We brought this on ourselves. Can’t these guys see they mishandled the minimum wage issue and come up with remedial action to save the little image remaining? Ati this matter is not being handled well by workers and employers. My foot! Your Govt never consulted but went ahead to implement into Law some Work In Progress.

  15. what has become of this government is no man can say or handle as we have entrusted power to the hyenas who want to reap where they did not……..its really embarassing to the outside world where a party can come out in the open and admit to the allegations of corrupt practices within itself;these guys have been in power for 1 year and such malpratices are identified…i wonder what will happen to Zambia by the end of their term….kabimba should not just talk about the MMD PF corrupt refugees…he should also pinpoint the PF members such as GBM….”tendalama shabanoko c.i.k.a.l.a…bikapo signature apa…..”

  16. Ba No 4 and 6

In Africa a man who is 70 years and above is no longer in charge of his brains. The thinking level is that of a grade 7.

You are asking too much from a man who is supposed to be in a village

    • You are going out of your way to bring very bad luck on yourself man. We respect elders here in Africa, and indeed anywhere else. For you to say elders in Africa (a general statement) are not in charge of their brains is taking your freedom of speech (or is it keyboard) over the radar.
Take time to reflect on the meaning of what you type.

  17. This is indeed training on the job, which dialogue are you talking about when all along this is what people were advising you. PF cannot root out corruption because they are a by product of MMD, the thieves in Chiluba’s era are in PF and they are worse. SATA made the mistake of appointing the same recycled MMD pipo who were part and parcel of reaping and plunder, I had so much in the Cobra but after seeing his cabinet I knew Zambia shall never be free of corruption. We need new blood if we have to see development in our country, this is an eye opener and lesson that there should be no more blindly voting for the sake of change, vote for quality and not quantity-DON’T KUBEPWA!

  18. This was a well meant speech reminding PF that there days are number and will face the tune after 2016 like MMD. There is too much corruption in the country especially coming from PF members. You SG has warned you, especially you G Mwamba (in minstry of defence) you will not be spared.

  19. I want to agree with all the bloggers who have onserved that the PF is talking of dialogue after having passed the law. How do you dialogue when the law is already in place? Dialogue was supposed to have taken place earlier not now. This is what happens when you do things without thinking. Sata’s government is a big let down. They keep going forwards and backwards, techinically remaining in the same place. We have not moved as a country and I see no hope that we shall make a move anytime soon.

  20. you ar the same pipo who complained that govt is taking too long 2 announce the new minimum wage, govt listened and acted, are you telling me its wrong to listen to pipos cry? We ar trying to narrow t6he gap btn poor en rich,if you argue you will be misunderstood en face da grave consiquenmces, we ar in a hurry to deliver,

    • pathetic zambians brains my brother. they really dont know what they want. they cry for zigolo n somebody gives them tea ati iyo thats too much>

  21. “… Kabimba has noted that the PF leadership will not hesitate to impose sanctions should some of its members of parliament fail to perform”

So … when will the sanctions begin?

Clearly there is no performance in any way shape or form.
