Republican President Michael Sata has challenged people claiming that the PF government has compromised the fight against corruption by appointing people with questionable characters to prove their claims.
President Sata said that such claims need to be substantiated adding that he will not hesitate to take action against such people if the claims turnout to be true.
The head of State has also challenged organizations and stakeholders claiming that the PF government is not fulfilling its campaign promises to also prove their allegations.
President Sata observed that some clergymen have abandoned the church and resorted to attacking the PF government.
The President was speaking at State house this morning when he swore-in Margaret Miyoba as permanent secretary for Luapula province and Dr. Felix Phiri as director of human and social development policy analysis at Cabinet office.
And President Sata has urged the newly sworn-in permanent secretary for Luapula province Margaret Miyoba to ensure that guidelines are set to promote proper utilization of public finances.
The President directed Ms. Miyoba to ensure that all government officers retire imprest.
President Sata has also noted the need to empower women in the country saying there is need for the government to work towards uplifting the standards of living of people living in poverty.

Well am not here to prove claims or attack , I leave that to others. Every ruling party in a functioning democracy is never short of hardcore critics.
I must say it is good to see the president speak with authority again. This has really been missing in the last months or so and some of us were really getting tired and concerned about the hollow POST newspaper press statements we were being fed by Mmembe and Chellah.
It’s so refreshing to know that the President has sent a clear message to anybody that” Hey I will fire you if people give me evidence”. This can only be a positive for his leadership because it looks like Mr Sata has lost control.
This is really great. As we say in MMD “Nafuti Nafuti” Ba Sata. Show that you are in charge.
MMD Chief Booticker you talk like you are job seeking?anyways good points
Lelo mwalandako ifyamano yama.Good observation.
I wouldn’t shake hands with this chap just yet; I sense a hint of sarcasm in this post!
He only talks when he is swore-in someone, what a man.if you can not take it do not dish it too.what a joke of a country
Bring evidence and i will act, that’a how Chiluba used to defend his thieving friends and himself. So sata having worked and learnt some tricks from his former Boss is today using the same. Pamberi ZANU/PF.
Mr president, the proof is Nchito is in court defending himself, your Chella has not disputed the story that he has bought a house at nearly K1Billion, and you have increased your salary without parliament approval (according to the current constitution: Article 42; Salary and Allowances of President) twice. What further proof do you need? Where are the jobs in 90days? Where is the constitution in 90 days? Where is no loadshedding in 90 days? Where is the Freedon of Information bill in 90 days? Should we go on? Is this not proof enough that you have failed? Is it not the same church you also used to attack mmd and RB?
ANOTHER PROOF . how many relatives has he appointed in in foreign service. what proof does he want really??
If it were you, would you accomplish all the promises as you would have promised in your campaigns? Forget dear. Lets just see what PF is doing bit-by-bit. Politicians are like that. Wrong or right?
Bemba-man @ 4.2
Can you tell us the ‘bit by bit’ that has been done so far, it’s now nearly 12 months since they took over government.
Also Where’s Dr Mitti-HOM billions scandal? Chipoka why this abuse. What proof mr president! Action speaks louder. Public perception is more evidence than proofs yo HE.Natural justice is the anchor of moral conscious Mr SATA. Your actions can speak for themselves. No need to seek proof!! Nchito doctored judgement by Justice Gregory phiri. Nchito-Mmembe no declaration of interest in the 14billion DBZ, Judge Chipoka money wastes is punishable corruption, constitution within 1yr now it gonna be yrs-money abused, Where are the judicial reforms-Does changing justices &judges amount to Judicial reforms Mr president? You are sitting on all this proof. “Justice, from a cherished ideal to an abused commodity” Zambians arise to bring sanity!!
Bemba man, that’s why silent spectator hasn’t availed himself because he has gauged himself. Here, we have a man who claimed that he could solve Zambia’s problems in 90 days, we are almost clocking a year nothing tangible can be seen other than appointments and disappointments and awarding themselves salary increments without performing.
A genuine person would not have promised so much thereby creating high expectations in the nation. If mistakes are made everyday there is need to highlight them as they occur other than wait for the end of their mandate/tenure otherwise damage will be immense to overturn and that would lead to another loss of a productive generation as was the case in the UNIP era.
@ THE CRUSHER, Exactly my thoughts! Chiluba used the same trick of give me the evidence. Look where it got us.
Another swearing-in ceremony why DON’T you have the BALLS to call for a PRESS CONFERENCE AT STATE HOUSE so you can talk till the cows come home then take questions from the media thereafter….
Ba Presido, I think its time for you to give us a Road Map for Zambia Press Conference. This will confer direction you intent to stir us. This business of just coming to the podium in times of appoints is not yielding any results and will not acclaim you accolates, but bring to the fore you action plan. One year without any indication of were the Captain is stirring us as a Nation is killing to those of us on board. Mr President please!!
Mr. President that is good, may be you could consider complaints persisting from the Ministry of Defence and also on criticism on delivery, ask your Cabinet colleagues their views on your frequent changes in ministries and their functions as well as creation of districts.
You still have my vote, tho, but address those few issues!!!
I concur with you 100%!!! These are the very things that are throwing doubts in our minds on those of us that did cast that vote on the PF.
Ok let me point at them,
1. What is Judge Chikopa doing in Zambia?
2. Why is Masumba still MP even wen it has been proven that he acquired it fraudulently?
3. How much or at wat percentage has yo salary been increased?
4. Have u put money in our pockets and worse still the Cotton farmers?
5. Where is the freedom of information bill?
6. Which jobs have u created in 90 plus days?
7. Whre is major Kaunda and tell us how he was transferred?
8. Are the pipo u went with to Brazil govnt officers, inlaws and Mwambas wife?
9. Any comment on loadshedding? u remember the promise u made?
10. Tell us mo about GBM, state house renovations?
Yaba, Iwe that’s right!
Great; but take this evidence to anti-corruption or better even state house; tabulate themwith costs and the like. Mere statements may not be enough. For instance, loadshedding promise, how does that become corruption when you know it will take 15years to build dams? Or shall I say: “lets pray in tongues, overnight and we shall receive a dam” voila; loadshedding has gone!! Jesus, God does not operate like that. We never built dams we dont deserve electricity, simple!!
#6 – Jay Jay, you are expecting too much from this man! He doesnt have answers for any question! So he will not hold any press conference for all the time he will be in state house! he is afriad of being asked the questions everyone is asking on the streets! remember he went into state house by lying so he wont risk being dressed down by reporters about his lies! I can understand your frustrations but sorry you wont have it till he leaves!
Icho chi President! Donchi Kubeba
“Give me the evidence, give me the evidence if you have it and I will act”, Frederick Titus Mpundu Chiluba
What proof mr president! Action speaks louder….Public perception is more evidence than proofs yo HE.Natural justice is the anchor of moral conscious Mr SATA. Your actions can speak for themselves. No need to seek proof!! “Justice, from a cherished ideal to an abused commodity” Zambians arise to bring sanity!! Mmembe-Nchito are becoming a danger to the country, whoever is not on their side becomes an enemy. They demonized SATA and called him names (check 2002 -2007 post editorials) during Mwanawasa’s reign (bcoz they benefited-Zambian airways ZRA tax wavers, airport fees wavers, 14billion DBZ loan etc) , now that SATA has allowed them into the treasury, HE is a saint Michael.Pure opportunists! when they wanted to fix Chiluba, bcoz Justice Ngulube refused they had him removed.
when is this man going to address a press conference..?is it true about cancers…?do you need evidence to show that you ve failed sir.>/sorry ..the signs are all over!!
For all those that are calling for press conference, you have lost your minds. I will only give a press conference after my one year in power and that will be after 23rd September. You think i am scared of your to ma small reporters wait and see………… as they say watch this space.
The President is worried about his divorce to Christine Kaseba when he leaves office. This is becoming an trend. Chiluba divorce Vera when he left office, Banda is about to divorce Thandiwe, Levy survived divorce by virtue of death during office, Ba KK bena bantu balya! How can this trend be explained? That’s simple, these guys are swarmed by women of all sorts while at the helm then they stop thinking with their heads but below their belts. Sata’s problems will be even worse, remember at one time he married two women (I bet we have forgotten and how easily we do). Why has the guy been making private visits to the UK as president of Zambia. I leave you to conclude Wapya Moto!
BWANA PRESIDENTO, CALL FOR A PRESS CONFERENCE…OUTLINE YOUR VISION FOR THE COUNTRY AND TAKE QUESTIONS FROM THE PRESS…STOP HIDING BEHIND STATE HOUSE WALLS…
The public will expect substance from you first press conference. Not jokes/boobs.You better thoroughly prepare yourself.Better still, never hold one.hahahahahahaha
#6Jay jay. You are leaving in the immediate post-colonial times bwana. Governance is no longer that of mounting self-aggrandizement so-called press conferences. Leaders no longer hold such charades. They act smoothly, without fan-fare. Examine the political nuances and subtleties of not only political leaders in the sub-region, but also beyond. Things have changed; you need to keep with the times.
If not through the Press Conference then what else should the Presido use to promulgate his Executive Dealings and Political Strategies? Expect us to wait, till the next elections for pronoucements to be made at Political Rallies? Even question and answer sessions are candid for the President better even Breakfast Q & A sessions to help him interact with the public or the Business community. President Zuma does this in SA!
Bombesheni, and it will be all good and done
#6jay jay…living in the…
Corruption Evidence? I present Michael Sata as exhibit no:1.
The peaple of zambia likes comedy, ask dvd vendors they will tell you that comedy sold faster. The day of press conference will be the day of comedy for sure, i say so becouse this peaple they dont respect other peaples views. the more they delay the more the quetions are piled by media peasonels, am sure many quetions will be unanswerd, prease no intmidation on that day mr ukwa.
Very funny but sensible if not factual.
The fertiliser deal.
@Narrant-then he should also stop blubbering during swearing-in sessions. I know of Press Conferences but not of weekly or fortnightly swearing-in sessions. I may be wrong but people like Obama, Cameron etc have Press Conferences when there are issues to address but attacking people at Swearing-in sessions…no! We hardly read about the latters because they are done all at once unlike in Zambia. Has it got to do with communication problems? In that we can’t get people to State House at one go? Or maybe it is the Intelligence system that is at a snails pace in clearing people who are have been offered these positions? Or perhaps the mind of someone works at a snail’s pace?
@Narant
I’m living in a much more transparent world where leaders have to be accountable for their administration’s actions….leaders like Obama do have press conferences at least once every two months or once every month in the case of European leaders; it is part and parcel of holding the highest public office in the land. Sata was more than happy to have sit downs with the press when he was in opposition everyday even buffoon RB held them monthly, now he has suddenly become shy and developed cold feet.
A swearing-in ceremony is just that not an event for issuing political rhetoric and empty statements.
Press conference? No that is too complicated for our dear friend Ukwa the clown!” . He will have to answer questions and that involves thinking!
haters pls listen! promises are, and will be such, wether spilled during campains or said at a press conference. decernible facts are now there in zambia and not in the diaspora, for all well meaning zambians to see. the economy now is better than the yester year one. ask zambian suppliers and contractors and they wiil accept this.
well done giving Bemba’s Tonga woman one zambia one nation. congrates
This must be a slip of a tongue by President Sata. He surely does not mean what he said because he himself is exhibit N0. 1 (i.e. disproportionate diabolical salary increments to himself, to mention just one piece of shocking evidence. List is endless).
The forest trees of Sata PF has grown beyond proportion to the amazement of Zambia. The revelations in ZambianWatchdog about tribalism is indefensible by any normal lies of Sata. I urge Zambians to read ZambianWatchdog to feel the disgusting TRIBALISM of Sata without shame. Zambians have really been DUPED by Sata and made mockery of democracy. We need to be upset and vow to correct this nortion in the next elections of one tribe- Bembas appointments in all govt positions.
Those that are insinuating the Press Conference belong to the pre- colonial era are misguided. President Obama calls for Press Briefings and issues meticulous Press Briefings which are an equivalent to Press Conference in Zedian states. What other way can a President promulgate his strategies to the general populance?
I meant General Populace!
Do not even waste your time asking for a press conference by Sata because the country will get nothing of substance. It will just be jokes and insults. Chances are half the time he will be speaking in his mother tongue hence sending a good number of Zambian reporters and those from foreign media to sleep. It will will be the funniest comedy!!!
THIS MAN IS USELESS,U MEAN U CAN`NT JUST REVIEW YR OWN ACTIONS AGAINST THE PROMISES AND TELL US EXACTLY WAT U HAVE ACHIEVED.WHO THE HELL AR U TRYING TO BLINDFOLD WITH YR OUTDATED SCARING TACTICS.
HOPELESS OLD DOG LIKE MICHEAL SUITS TO BE HYENAS IN A JUNGLE.
Sata is old and tired. Accept that. He is incapable of showing leadership in this time and age. Had it not been for his doctor wife, he would have pegged long time ago. But us zambians are gullible and docile like that. Sata for president? wtf??
SOUTHERN PROVINCE PS BLOCKS
@ Blue Blood, I would love me some comedy. Please Zambian people let us demand for a Press Conference. We want to laugh; or is it a case of be careful with what you wish for.
Good day! I am aware this is kinda off topic nevertheless I’d figured I’d ask. Are you thinking about exchanging links or maybe guest writing a short article or vice-versa? My blog covers many of the same topics as yours and I feel we will greatly take advantage of 1 another. If however , you become do shoot me an email. I count on talking with you!
