All we are asking for is equity and fairness from the PF government-UPND

A van with campaign stickers for opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema makes its way along Malambo road in Lusaka

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has said that it is only asking for equity and fairness in all aspects of public affairs from the Patriotic Front government.

UPND Secretary General Winston Chibwe in a statement released to QFM says it is not right for defence minister Geoffrey Mwamba to continue accusing UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema of being tribal whenever he expresses different views from those of government.

Mr. Chibwe says Mr. Mwamba should strive to embrace the discipline of accepting the freedom of others to freely debate national issues without feeling insecure or threatened.

He has advised Mr. Mwamba not to hide in what he says is the lack of knowledge as a reason for misrepresentation of facts.

Mr. Chibwe says it is time the defence minister stopped being hypocritical over the issue of tribalism by applying double standards.

He states that the PF should realize that they were not voted into office to continuously blame the former ruling party, MMD but to change the livelihoods of the majority citizens.

The UPND secretary general says Mr. Mwamba and Chief government spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni should come to terms with the fact that the PF’s one year in office has been a disaster.

  1. The one year PF has been in office has only been a disaster to UPND. As for me i have come to like PF especially that they are trying by all means to empower Zambians.

    • @3 yes you can like it because you are afool, afools always accept anything comes.I think even the people in your house a fools like you pubafu.

  2. Disaster 4sho! more and worse disaster is yet 2b seen. they think they ar destroying upnd but in the actual fact themselves coz they think zambians stil reason lik they did in the 60s. mmembe & malupenda ar a hazard 2 this country’s unity & development pliz mr sata!

    • I think you were in Zambia a long time ago. Go there and see what is going on. Its people in the diaspora who blog on these sites and the people in Zambia have no idea what you are insulting each other about. I have seen roads being done, more hospitals being built and clinics. There is nothing you are talking about.

  3. I do not think equity and fairness is to start killing Bembas. You people I hope you have confined yourselves to southern province because Jerabos will react. If you are in Kitwe, Ndola or anyplace north start running.

  4. If the one year in office by PF has been a “disaster” , we would have seen a spectacular rise in UPND political fortunes and its devious leader HH, but nay… all they can afford to marshal to their side is one evil character, William Banda.
The only time that the tribal tag will cease to be synonymous with UPND is when they embark on fundamental reforms, do an introspection and embrace other tribes in their ranks and top leadership.
Right now, UPND cannot defend the indefensible, they are simply a tribal party…. period!!

    • @ Nshi sunda whatever. . . .That’s why you urinate where others deposit life-giving ‘fluids’, you are a total disaster too just like your kolwestan sentence of a name. No matter how you try to confuse us from debating the true proven tribalist ‘Ukwa’ with his family/tribal forest, you are just wasting your tym. Now even grade 2 kids know the true tribalist between Ukwa and HH. While the latter is accused of the vice based on statements made by others and not himself, the former is busy practicing the vice without shame. VIVA HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

  5. is chibwe a tonga? some bloggers really smell shit. no substance in the issues they bring out. some us are bemba but we dont demonize others of tribalism. ours is a huge forest from one region ( Northern and Luapula mu mweru ) running the government what about other tribes? zambia is too big bane.

  6. I really do not understand you UNPD people anymore, your MPs do not want to work with the PF governemnt and again you cry for fairness and equity. What do you really want. I think you the ones who are confused. The PF are more level headed becuase from the time they were in opposition. They never shifted goal posts.

    • Stop being dull my dear did you do composition in school.Clearly read the reasons why they want equity and fairness because it is stated in this article.

    • Please use your reasoning skills. Have you seen whats happening to MMD after their MPs are offered government portfolios? Steven Mafumba is your classic example. They are not offered the ministerial positions as goodwill, its to increase their numbers in parliament so that they can pass PF laws as they please, and they would not have problems. They are buying these MPs with these inconsequential positions.

UPND wants to work with them to develop the country but they have refused to be bought. Now thats we call PRINCIPLED LEADERSHIP.

    • If they have refused to be bought as you put it, let them go to hell. Besides, no matter the goodwill in appointing them, they will never accept it. You can only give one example of Steven Masumba but not all of them are the same. If they are principled, we can only see their principles when they are actually given those jobs and see what they would do with their principles. You call developing the nation by only complaining. I wonder what kind of development that would be.

  7. The UPND SG is actually Jiibwe, not Chibwe. OK, you Tonga characters stop your insults against Bembas, then we shall also stop talking you down. Bembas, for your own information are outgoing, risk takers and versatile. They are also more numerous than you Tongas. MILES SAMPA told you to marry Bemba women if you were to make any progress.

  8. Remember the ZERO Option and all the fake Bombs used by then MMD to accuse and arrest people from the opposition to try and cement their position. Even this shit about TUO is a PF fabrication and no one will be found wanting. PF is a “One Term” party and Chimbwi No Plan cannot even face the media because he has Pakinson’s deases and deranged. Mazyu

  9. the wise men have spoken..this fat thingy is making unnecessary noise..lack of education is a problem..BMG..hahaha..pf has been so disastrous a govt..

  10. PF is a big laughing stock. Failure in all sense. By the way where is the president? Why is he too quiet on the issue of early campaigns within PF for the post of president, is he resigning any moment from now as rumours say it!

  11. UPND, you seem to forget that you speak to PF and Sata through the media, and not through some secret channels, so everything you say is in the public domain. We know what you have said and what you meant. We can judge for ourselves the meaning of it all. Just because you have one Chibwe or a Kakoma or a Banda does not change the fact that your support base is SP. It does not change the fact that Tonga elders agreed that Mazoka can be replaced only by a fellow Tonga, which was the birth of this version of UPND that we see today, which has fallen rather badly from Mazoka’s time. And this fairness you mention, you have refused to work with government, and then complain that you are sidelined. It seems to me that the UPND principle is, “if we dont get it, no one else will”…

    • ever since i started reading the coments from blogers, iwe ulimwaume not that australia engineer changing post everyday

    • I totally agree with  equaliser, UPND has refused to work with the Govt of the day because of their unfounded superiority that can only be attributed to their Tonga domain at the same time crying the loudest that they are being sidelined. What equity are they talking about. Grow up UPND and drop childish behaviour.
If anything UPND is not anywhere near to be called an opposition party because it does not qualify to be. it is out of tolerance for the sake of our young democracy that dimwit parties like UPND are recognised. Talk about NAREP, Milupis and the like, what mandates them to think they are any closer to be in opposition apart from personal views of those who call themselves presidents. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time Zambia oppositin swallowed the pride and start developing Zed.

  12. Many of us Zambians who advocate true democracy wish to see strong opposition, Strong does not mean violently opposed to the government in power. It means well tuned to the people and their needs, and providing alternatives and solutions, convincing people by action, not by friction, giving ideas to the government when they see something lacking, not using every mistake as a tool to justify creating drama, make the country ungovernable as someone said… Your own words, UPND…

  13. If the current opposition parties can listen for once and get their heads out of the sand, they might be surprised to find that those of us criticizing them today will bee the ones voting for them tomorrow. But, they need to convince us, not quarrel with us as if we’re the enemy for pointing out the obvious, that the line of argument and approach the opposition seem to be using so far has only lost them votes and membership, in the case of MMD, office. We want strong opposition, but we have criteria that they should meet.

    • i pity u my friend! if i may ask, what do u teach your children? insults? i dont think there is even a New Testament Bible in your house. If you are not a Christian i think even these other religions dont allow insults like that in thier books. Repent and pray!

  14. You are still practising “AKA RED NA KA BLACK” nipesa umwene aka red…..basala apshili, anyway it pains.Sata red carpet, bakateka UPND mwikalile fye ukubosa bobobo.Rubbish opposition, childish cheeky monkeys.

  15. If only UPND can stop for once and seriously reflect on why the “tribal tag” for them has proved hard to shake off than PF or Bembas, they will have half the battle won. To me, all forms of tribalism stink—Bemba or Tonga.

I remember GBM making some very serious tribal remarks about the Namwangas during his run for the MP seat and no one, including UPND or Tongas, seemed to care at the time. The question is why? Is it because the tribalism was directed at another ethnic group in the North? Now that GBM has turned his tribal venom on Tongas and UPND you, allover a sudden, have “gotten some region” on the frailties of the “sin” of tribalism?!

  16. This reminds me of what Martin-Niemöller (a Germany Pastor) once said:
“First they came for the communists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.
Then they came for the socialists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
    Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.”
Oh, how true! A serious indictment and cautionary tale to those who want to be selective in their condemnation of what is wrong! UPND have missed an opportunity to be a great body that every Zambian, or at least most Zambians, from all tribes can be proud of. And they still don’t seem to get it!!!

  17. What equity Mr Chibwe are you talking about. You guys I dont know what you want. Its just yesterday you said UPND at any time cant work with PF. No UPND cader can work with PF. These are your words and now you are saying equity. The other thing you are not mentioning is the fact that PF has people who supported it financially and as such these people should be also supported by the PF. So what do you want you UPND guys? And now you want to kill just coz you want to be in plot 1. Nonsense.

  18. UPND, you have no structures on the ground in many places. I am not gonna mention places. But definately having William Banda doing the grassroot organisation is a very good thing president HH. The man is liked and believed so much. UPND is gonna grow so much that PF will be swamped, overtaken. With William, Liato, Bikiloni, Lifwekelo awe mwandi. Ni pa plot “1” come 2051. Great politician and strategist our HH is.

  19. A word of advise to Tongas (and may be to Lozis). Majority of progressive Zambians do not look at you on the basis of your tribe. You are just Zambians. When it comes to politics and ascending to political positions, we will NOT vote for you because you are a Lozi or Tonga. We will vote for you on the basis of your reasoning and your potential to contribute towards the social, economic and political development of the nation. Members of one tribe can never fit into one definition thus stereotyping Bembas as thieves and selfish will never take you anyway. We have a democratic political system in place and the one who has the best political organizing abilities and has a message that resonates with the majority of Zambians gets it regardless of tribe.

  20. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Tonga people, like other fallen infamous regimes, the PF regime has thus emulated unpopular tactics against its own citizens under the pretext of restoring law and order. No matter how strong you are, when you use your security forces against unarmed citizens, you automatically draw the mighty international community into the confrontation. The world at large is not naive to be fooled by inexperienced people in deceptions of this bogus news item which is being circulated by the Zambian media in the global sphere.Examples of fallen masters of tribal manipulations are; late col. Gadaffi killed by his own people, Mobuto( Zaire, DRC), former Tunisian president, Mubarak and still unfolding meyham, the Syrian president,Assad. Stay away from fire and peace

  21. The PF regime is attempting to show Zambians that it alone is capable of ruling without incidents of tribalism and it is already playing its tribal cards through such examples like this bogus developing story of ‘ Tongas under oath’. The implications which follow from such departures of procedural tribal tactics is that the PF regime will assume the role of using indiscriminate military force against unarmed citizens with the anticipation that the international community will justify PF actions against its own citizens. Forget it PF look for another method, people are highly educated and apply science to solve all problems so as to find truthful conclusions. Viva comrade HH and long live people’s just struggle, away with propaganda. Viva UNPD, peace to all Zambians.

  22. Bane ichi chalo mwamona tachitalala ngo musunga! mwikala patalala mwine apatalalika! these people you are fighting and insulting on thier behalf are confortable, rich, has money to bail themselves out of police custody and once you give them support and vote for them they even forget about you, they stop picking your phone calls and ask the guards on thier home gates to chase you away, secretaries will never allow you in thier offices. SHAME!!!!! let us embrass each other and look to GOD for guidance

  23. upnds are fools you are crying for equity distribution of resources why,the president made choma as the provincial hq you condemed him.also has he created chirundu as a district ka hh was on air blaming the idea, so what do you want you tongas

  24. Asking for equity and fairness, well, let the President appoint some progressive MPs from your Party like Garry Nkombo into Government, you will cry fowl and blue murder!!!! The President appoints someone, who is clealry a Bantu Botatwe and qualified lawyer, Hon. Whynter Kabimba from Chief Shakumbila in Mumbwa, because you cant say tribal, you say Sata’s friend, incompetent, etc. What should Government do in order to be fair and equitable, allow you to just continue insulting, calling the President names and your senior advisors assaulting people??? Come on grow up, UPND needs a complete overhaul and rebranding to stand a chance in 2016, as it is, the downward spiral is assurred!!

  25. PF morons just be reminded that your tribal bread winner is currently fighting for his life and there is a succession struggle going on in your clueless tribal party. You will be lucky it even last upto 2016. You’re a half term tribal government. Stinking clueless hyeana.

  26. Utulo ba UPND you think Mr Chibwe is that daft to belong to your ka small regional party. ‘A man gotta do what he’s gotta do’ to feed his family.

  27. By the way these chaps in this other finished party UPND,who do they think they are? Mwensamba mwe..and those talking about 2016 so what? You have now stopped hallucinating about Sata is ill,no very soon is dying now is come 2016 mwensamba mwe..ubuwelewele namo tukaminyankula mukapapa sana.

  28. Is it wrong for someone to ask for equity and fairness on behalf of all the areas of the country? Some of the views of the blind followers of PF aka Kaponyas are sickening. To them what matters is just Northern, Muchinga and Luapula. What rat-brains!!!

  29. IT SEEMS THIS BLOG IS VISITED BY ALOT OF FOOLS. THAT BEMBA, THIS TONGA, THAT LOZI …….WHY TRIBALISM EVERY DAY? THE NEXT DAY YOU WILL BE INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ROAD ACCIDENT SOMEONE WILL TAKE U TO THE HOSPITAL WHILE PEEING AND POOPING. ARE U GOING TO ASK IF HE IS BEMBA OR LOZI OR TONGA? STUPID F.O.O.L.S !!!!!

  30. @ KweKwe, I totally agree with you. The biggest problem is that all this nonsense is coming from people who have been to school. Maybe it is a case of one leaving the village but not the village leaving his or her head. You are right to call them FOOLS because there is no better word which can describe these *****S. All this is coming from three tribes. No Lundas, Luvales, Tumbukas, Solis, Namwangas, Kaondes, Chewas, Lambas etc but just THREE MAFIA tribes who think they are more special than the rest of us Zambians. In their MAFIA heads, whenever they see someone, their first thought is “What tribe is he/her?” If they fail to acheive anything, their first excuse is because I belong to this tribe. GROW UP YOU FOOLS!

  31. Equity does not mean UPND has to join government but for the government of the day to be fair to every citizen regardless of their ethnic or political affiliations. This seems to be very elien to the current government and that is the problem. Running a nation should be different from running a political party.
