Siavonga District Commission Brave Mweetwa has linked the UPND to a group calling itself ‘Tongas Under Oath’ which has declared war on the Bemba speaking people in Southern province until President Michael Sata reverts Chirundu and Itezhi Tezhi districts to southern province.
The Group claims to have so far killed three Bembas while claiming to have poisoned a further seven Bembas who they expect to die soon.
But Mr Mweetwa in a statement released to QFM News said that it was clear that the opposition UPND has been preaching divisions on several matters of governance including the re-alignment of districts and are to blame for activities such of those of the shadowy group.
He added that this is what happens when certain politicians are bent on dividing the nation along tribal lines.
Mr Mweetwa said the UPND leadership should take responsibility of what he describes as an embarrassing episode in the country’s political history.
He further stated that it is not a secret that the UPND has made it routine to criticize and attack the PF Government on tribal or ethnic lines.
He said that the UPND owes Zambians an apology in this regard.
Mr Mweetwa said that the people of Chirundu and Siavonga are firmly united behind the PF Government and the leadership of President Michael Sata, and will not be swayed by outsiders who want to bring confusion in the areas.
Meanwhile the Human Rights Commission has expressed concern with reports that a clandestine group “Tongas under Oath” has killed three Bembas and is threatening to carry out more killings.
Commission Director Enoch Mulembe in a statement released to QFM News said that Zambians must learn from and be mindful of what has occurred in other countries due to ethnic hatred.
Mr Mulembe said if true, the reports are not representative of other peace loving Tonga speaking Zambians should be thoroughly investigated by the police.
He reminds the public that tribalism or ethnic bias is prohibited under the constitution of the republic of Zambia.
He said that any grievance should be channeled through established mechanisms, emphasizing dialogue, tolerance, peace and respect for each other.
Mr Mulembe said it is imperative that the law enforcement agencies play their role and investigate any hint of ethnic violence emanating from any part of the country.

Recently i had found myself criticising Michael Sata for the appointments he has been making but then i came to realise that he has been appointing people that helped him to win the elections in september. HH would do the same if he won the elections. His power base is in Southern province and parts of western and north western province. If he were to become president, he would definitely appoint people from these parts of the country.

What is so special about Southern Province, is it the droughts and government relief food. The Tonga man living next to my mother’s house in Luapula should also leave and see whether he will survive without all his farming activities in the North. Tongas are NOT violent and are perhaps the most tolerant tribe in Zambia. Confirm this with AB Chikwanda who was adopted by the Tonga’s as their own and thus his being considered a father of many Tongas such as Muna Hantuba to mention just one. It is only in Tongaland and perhaps NWestern Province where you find people embracing other tribes without much ado. And check your neighbourhood, you will notice that most Bemba men marry Tonga ladies and surprise surprise, a lot of Tonga bulls are wedded to Bemba’s. THAT IS A FACT!!! He is according to her ambitious and mixes that with questionable dealings like the one that led Zambia Sugar to suspend his company cos of a fraud involving a chain saw. My friend says if he is challenging her, she can lodge a complaint with the ACC on behalf of Nakambala Estate as Brave is aware of the letters that were exchanged with the company.
