Mali Hold Zambia

Share

Zambia Under 20 on Saturday begun their campaign for a slot at the 2013 African Youth Championship on a low note after Mali held them to a 2-2 draw in Kitwe.

Mali came from behind twice to force a draw in the third round, first leg at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Defender Bornwell Silengo gave Zambia a 6th minute lead before his team mate Peter Mulenga headed in his own net five minutes later to level the terms.

Captain Reynold “Sate Sate” Kampamba put the Junior Chipolopolo up when he scored from close range in the 13th minute.

After the interval Mali who looked shaky in the first half settled down and pressed for an equaliser that came in the 67th minute via Adama Mariko.

Mariko had dribbled past the Zambian central defence led by Silengo and Mulenga before beating advancing keeper Moses Mapulanga with a low shot.

This match was preceded by a moment of silence observed in honour of former first lady Mama Betty Kaunda who died on Wednesday.

The return leg takes place two weeks later.

  1. Mulesala bwino ama players, 5 from Zanaco just cause iwe ka Mumba you are the coach. Kasama United shani shani Zanaco bla bla. Is Mbola not 19 years? Why was he not in the team

  2. What is Sate-Sate Kampamba still doing in Zambian league, that boy need to be at Arsenal, he is brilliant. Is he related to Gift Kampamba?

  3. Southampton concluded the match – and leaped off the bottom of the table – when impressive substitute Emmanuel Mayuka was felled by Guzan, allowing Lambert to score his second of the match and his 26th penalty for the club.

  4. Zambia National team is not about ZANACO. I chi Kelvin do not be biased to ZANACO…..There are better players than those from ZANACO.

  5. The last time a Zambian team ever cauzed an upset in the return match waz that 1-3 bashing of South Africa at their own back-yard after that Makoena goal had done us badly here in the AFCON qualifierz.
