The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says it will not interfere in the selection of the national team players to take on Uganda.
FAZ Communications Manager Erick Mwanza says selection FAZ will ensure that the selection of national team players will remain a preserve and exclusive privilege of the Chipolopolo boys coach, Herve Renard.
ZANIS reports that Mwanza noted that it is the coach’s job and sole responsibility to select national players to play in the matches.

Mwanza said FAZ takes a lot of pride in the independence of the technical staff who are well qualified, proficient and understand better than anybody else the workings and specific technical, tactical and other needs of the team.
Meanwhile, Mwanza disclosed that Chipolopolo boys winger, Clifford Mulenga, has not been called to the squad for the match against Uganda just like other players who are performing equally well, enjoying top form and are regular scorers in top European leagues such as Roger Kola (Belgium), Fwayo Tembo (Romania), Given Singuluma (DRC) and Collins Mbesuma (RSA).
He also said the coach monitors all Zambian players abroad and requires no reminder about who is performing or not, scoring or not.
Mwanza said all the players who were not selected for the October 6 camp will be called regardless of any present form, debate, articles in print or discussions because the 24 the coach has selected for this final qualifier are the ones best suited for this job.
He added that the focus should never be on any individual player especially the ones not selected for any particular assignment.
Mwanza said the team is bigger than any player and the coach knows who and what builds his squad.

I think it makes sense. I mean why employ someone i can’t work with? In the end it wud just make everyone fail to do the job. i think Renard knows wat he is doing, lets let him do his job.
National interest is important, while we agree with Erick , we need to remind FAZ and Renard that we spend our tax payers money for all things games and if as a public we notice that there is deliberate attempt to sideline deserving players we have the moral right to remind the coach and FAZ thier national responsibility to be above board.
Exactly that’s a reason why Renard got that job as a national team coach, its his job to select a team or players to play in national team and NOT FAZ, but if he cant perform then FAZ will sack him.
Damn! no chipolopolo @ Afcon 2013! Reason ,Herve can be starbon sometimes. If only he leaserned. Mali could have beaten the under 20 @ home if’it wasnt for the partisan fans callng for the right subsitutions as compared tto keagans favourites, @ times they also know who should play.
I am sure the selection of the team is made by the “Man in the Jacket”

FAZ is hiding in Renard. They ve eaten money from Felix, James and Chris. All what they will do is to fire the coach if we fail to make it to the finals next month.

That Chris Katongo shouldn’t even tempt to join the camp, abantu bakali, whatever will happen to his leg don’t blame FAZ, blame Herve. How can Felix Katongo be better than Clifford, Mbesuma or Fwayo?
FAZ nor Herve selects the team, its Chris umwana wambwa who selects, starting on his brother. My friend from Haiti is just on standby to do what he is best at, ukulowa.
We demanded for Isaac Chansa to be included the same way we are going to fight for Clifford. We do not tolerate personal differences to influence football. Herve Renard will lose his job if he continues to be stabbon.  Those Katongo brothers are liabilities to the team the moment he continues using them then no Afcon for us and it will be the start of his end. Remember Bonnett he qualified us to the Afcon.
By the way, has Kalusha stopped getting commissions from the players? If he still does then he still influences the selection of players.

The issue here is giving him second chance what is wrong with that,does mean that Renard should not be controlled. He is just a worker he can be fired if he fails to qualify to Africa cup next year.:((
What is so special about Clifford? What has he done in SA?
Which position is Clifford going play, already we have better players than him the likes of Jacob,Jonas who have no position. Why congest the national team with big headed players.Let Clifford rot in S.Africa,I don’t think we need now or in future.As longer as HR is in charge that boy will never player for the National team which is a fair issue.
Why a second chance for Clifford, the first cut is the deepest.The first mistake he made is enough not to call him to the National team.

Eric’s statement iz so cheap since every keen soccer lover knowz that selection of national team playerz iz SUPPOZED TO BE a prezerve of the coach and hiz tecnical crew. Nobody is asking FAZ to impoze Clifford Mulenga on HR, but to prevail on the trainer not to have any black-listed potential memberz of the Zambian squad for on flimzy groundz.
Mwe bantu, where is Clifford going to play? Even if he was asked to choose which position he wanted, he wouldnt have an answer to that question. As for the selection, we know it is FAZ who select players for the coach to train. On the U 20 match, Keagan doesnt know what he is doing. That U 20 full back should should have a reletive in FAZ because i can play better than him in the same position.
