Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba has said that he is ready to use his personal money to engage a witchdoctor who will apprehend the illusive Mailoni brothers.
The Mailoni brothers have been on the run over the last six years after allegedly killing a number of people in the Luano valley.
All efforts by the security and defence wing to catch the serial killers have proved unsuccessful and recently a traditional leader in the area appealed to Government to consider hiring witchdoctors to help find the killer brothers.
And in an interview, Mr. Mwamba who is commonly known as GBM said that he was ready to personally fund the activities of the witchdoctor who is willing to help catch the Mailoni brothers.
“Government wants to use all avenues to bring to book Mailoni brothers and am willing to use my own resources and if it means hiring witchdoctors, am ready to pay,” Mr. Mwamba said.
“I want the people of Luano Valley to live in peace, am calling upon any witchdoctor who has the ability to catch these killers to come forward and see me,” he said.

Please try to understand the nature of the problem at hand instead of condemning an innocent person who is simply trying to help. The issue has been there for six years, and according to the reports they have failed to apprehend the brothers using normal channels known to you and me. It is not witchcraft, you people, it is called indigenous technical knowledge and the Minister is merely agreeing that if modern security and investigative techniques have failed because the Mailoni brothers are using traditional indigenous technical knowledge to elude security officials, he is prepared to engage experts in that field. It is only that we give them names with negative connotations and stigma, these are consultants in indigenous techical knowledge, well versed in traditional investigative methodologies and practices!!! A nation from time to time will come under various security threats both internally and externally, this internal threat only requires the deployment of the Zambia State security agents who’s representatives they should have had on ground before all this happened anyway. Granted since there is still a threat in the area and that resources required will take up a large chunk of time and money, they just have got to go for it. It’s an internal matter dear, Commando Forces are a special force, trained for specific tasks unlike the way they were used to quell riots on the CB or to over come late Stephen Lungu alias, Capt Solo at ZNBC. Though of course at the discretion of the National Leadership they found it fit to do so. They are few in numbers but a force multiplier with their special skills that’s why they are not utilized any how. The ZP on the other hand are expected to have a special unit trained in a similar way to the Commandos but for specific tasks such as this Mailoni brothers issue except in their weapons and equipment differences.

Sounds strange but the govt through Police have been using bashi ng’anga to solve mystery cases in Zambia especially involving serial killers or the disappearance of people. Ask any anti robbery squad cop and they will tell you this,they also get protection through bashi ng’anga,others prefer to pray before going into the field to track crimininals,it’s been happening for many years so though our daft Minister is saying it now,it’s always happened.
