A Victory Ministries International Church Pastor has strongly condemned the irate mob justice of John Laing compound who set ablaze a suspected bandit on Monday, this week.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS yesterday, Nevers Mumba stated that the mob should have avoided breaking the rule of law but instead they should have allowed the police to handle the situation.
Dr Mumba noted that instant mob justice is not the solution, adding that people should not go by the olden days where communities took matters in their own hands.
He said the courts and the police are there to handle such matters and exist to bring justice and peace to the nation.
Dr Mumba appealed to Zambians to report such cases to the police who have the sole responsibility of apprehending the suspects.
On Monday, a suspected bandit died after being set ablaze by irate residents of john Laing Compound in Lusaka who was between the ages of 25 and 30.
ZANIS
It’s the people  in those compounds  who feel the impact  of bandits. So I understand them
A SUSPECT is Simply a suspect… that does not make one guilt of any crime. iwe. How would you feel if someone pointed a finger at you for a crime you didn’t do and then have a savage mob setting you ablaze. Its wrong!!
In Zambia its enough for your enemy ( ex girlfriend) to shout kabolala and get killed by backward savages even if you didn’t steal anything.
This is the only sensible contribution you have made to this country since you became MMD president
lol
You’re not honest with yourself sir/madam.
mwashibukeni ba Mumba. Long time no see.
Mumba get a life motha.f.uc.ker. Sata has destroyed the rule of law and you want to talk about mob justice? Cops on the copperbelt have vowed to take bribes from jerabos, PF cadres are threatening to beat an MP from UPND, the opposition cannot hold rallies in peace, a minister is pushing for a contract from GOVT to supply poles to zesco without impunity, Zambian students in Russia, sent by GOVT, are suffering. Dont tell the people to report crime to the PF police and courts. Remember Mutembo is still the DPP and is still a PF cadre. F.uc.k all PF cadres and their GOVT.
who even showed you how the internet works? you are such a retard. you deserve to be living in the bush.
You have issue mate, please talk to someone who may help your situation! That is how depression starts mate eish! You are sick!
I like your contribution. Good boy, continue with your contributions. This country needs citizens like you.
You are just a waste of sperm my friend.
Profanity is the attempt of a very lazy and feeble mind to express itself forcefully
If a thief is caught stealing, especially armed robbers, I see no other suitable punishment apart from instant death. Thieves are animals, who should have no place in society. If I catch a thief stealing in my house, He will certainly die immediately, then I will ask his ashes to report to the police!
becareful what you wish for next time it could be your son!! There are civilized ways of handling criminals, pray that you wont be burnt alive by those homophobic primitive South – Africans for being a kwerekwere …
#5 Sure they have told you the truth, pray it you won’t be a victim on the hands of those South Africans.
Correction ….this one is not a thief he is a suspect….so why treat a suspect like the actual thief…thats
The problem is that the police are not performing to peoples expectations. And criminals have taken advantage of that, in some cases you would find that even the police are also involved in such practices theft. They are the ones behind most acts of theft, how can they act against those they are sending to steal? I can also kill a thief in self defense and to protect my family’s property.
That is bad but thieves have no mercy too. Â Last week they broke my car and stole my very expensive laptop, that was in the central city of Kitwe and when I reported the matter to the police all they said was we shall look into this matter and blamed me for leaving the bag in the car. Â Now if that thief was found and burnt do you think I will feel pity for him???????????????? Â NO WAYS PEOPLE ITS LIKE THE POLICE ARE FAILING THEIR DUTIES NOW.
While on vacation in Windhoek with my family , three Mac books, mobile phones and electric shaver was stolen from the apartment we rented.. it was quite painful because we had just arrived the same day “my birthday” at Klein Windhoek Guesthouse from europe…I saw the cleaning lady talking to the guy who later stole our stuff… when the police was informed they started flirting with the chambermaid.. i felt so bad. but wishing someone to be burnt alive for material things like that was the last thing on my mind.. of course i cursed them and all that but killing is just evil.
and you call yourselves a christian nation, tss tss.. better change it to Nation of Backward Savages.
I’ve got three laptops lying around at home, the bastards who stole from us are probably skint by now
Atase so your laptop is more worth than a life of a person? People and material staff! If the govt could sort unemployment issues then people would not be stealing as much. Desperate situations calling for desperate measures.
Must be the PF culture of lawlessness spreading its ugly wings.Sata gave a carte blanche for his supporters to sell salaula on Lusaka streets, they threaten opposition MP’s with impunity and the PF mp’s were threatening Kaingu. No rule of law under these thugs.
This is unlike Zambians, people have become so barbaric, where is all this coming from kanshi, it makes me sad. Please lets not let life and blood be meaningless and easy to spill like it is in South Africa. I have always been proud to refer to my country as a nation full of humanity and respect for life but the stories am reading are getting more and more horrid, not so sure if we have those values left in us still. The young ladies have lost all dignity, people don’t respect marriage, women get beaten every other day, killed, our children are not safe anymore, nowadays not just baby girls but boys too, our political leaders are a circus.. what the hell, i want my Zambia back!!!!
I witnesed someone being killed in kamwala when Dr. Kaunda was president, even in those days people were stoned to death if ‘caught stealing’ or suspected of such.. most Zedians are just primitive savages. Thats why they even strip women naked on the streets for wearing skirts and leggings.. forgetting that before the white man introduced clothes to them, their grandparents were running around with nude.
Is this the first time in the history of zambia that a thief is burnt to death?
Bitterness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…four more years to go mukose.
its not the first time, its gettin worse………
I agree with you BA zambia, people are so bitter because campaign promises they fell for have not been fulfilled and will never be fulfilled.Thank God I never put my hope in mare human beings.I plan my life, work hard and smart, and end up with more money in my pockets.Four more years to go…wina azalila!!!!!!!
They should actually knock out a few crooked heads off this planet so that other thieves can learn a lesson that stealling must not be an option.
PF Zanis you rotten scumbags with your cheap propaganda! Zambia is been run by dogs. Isn’t Mumba the President of MMD? Typical baboons!
MOB justice, those of us who were students @ CBU or UNZA know exactly what happens when a thief is caught
It seems Nevers Mumba has gone back to the pulpit at Victory ministries damping another party again.
they should change the title from “christian nation” to NATION OF PRIMITVE SAVAGES
Our God is a God of Love, a God of Mercy and a God of Justice. We are never perfect, and will for sure remain a Christian Nation. The bad behavior of few individuals does not make all of us Zambians a nation of primitive savages. You, a civilized person should never struggle to see that, not so?
Now he is Victory Ministries Pastor??????not MMD President????promotion or demotion?????
This is scary to the Mutembo, Mmembe and GBM, the SUSPECTS. Zambians can be savages just like South Africans…
Really, I cannot blame the residents. Firstly, the constitution is not well founded and the enforcement is not executed.
Have any of you people contributing here ever experinced an armed gang in your house have you ever been robbed and thretened with a gun to your head ask me and i have no sympathy for this criminals who are also involved with this policemen and i can say its good riddance
What happened when a gun was held against your head?? did poo come out or you peed in your pants??
One More Thief OUT in John Laing compound. meaning peaceful sleep and free nights.
Thieves can rape your wife, mother or daughter, kill you, and steal your valuables. So why spare them. Good riddance. Keep it up Kwa John Laing residents.
What is wrong with these ZANIS chaps? What Victory Ministries International Church Pastor; this chap is an opposition leader, that’s the capacity he speaks as, unless he was addressing a church congregation even then he is still an opposition leader.
Ni nani uyo wine Mumba kanshi?
IF THE GOVT WILL CONTINUE PARDONING SERIOUS CRIMINAL IN LARGE QUANTITIES THEN IÂ DON’TÂ GET SURPRISED BY THEIR DESTINY.
THEY ARE SAFER IN JAIL.
GBM cant arrest the Mikiloni with his intelligency.kwekwekwe
good for him
Say that Dr Mumba if you have not been comfronted by bandits before. Some of us who have even been knifed and our sisters raped, know how it feels. That’s why those John Laing people expressed themselves ruthlessly. Bandit alibe cifundo, ali monga mfiti.
“A Victory Ministries International Church Pastor has strongly condemned the irate mob justice of John Laing compound who set ablaze a suspected bandit on Monday” Lol…Iyo kwena mwamuchefya bane.
While I sympathise with those that have been victims of vicious thieves, lets not forget that at times there can be a case of mistaken identity. Remember it only takes one person to finger the wrong guy before the mob unleashes its fury. Again I am not defending any criminals by all means, I am just stating that the mob can unleash its fury on an innocent person too.
I am with you Nevers on this one.
It is not a good idea.I don`t support it not even one bit.One of my relatives almost fell prey to an instant justice mob after he entered into a wrong yard while looking for his daughter.I was actually the one who identified and saved him from the punishment.Apparently he was too drunk to give a reasonable explanation.Imagine if i wasnt there an innocent person could have been killed.
This is a sign that people do not have confidence in the Police
True man.
So you are only a Christian nation when it suits you, such hypocritical people.
I don’t have any sympathy for any bandit at all. They don’t spare anyone’s life or property. No wonder I am a very keen supporter of death penalty. I have lost a brother at the hands of bandits. My brother was slain in cold blood, so why should I sympathise with such people. It is a pity if he was not a bandit. If he is, good riddance.
Way to go bro its only.when you.have been a victim of crime is when people on this topic. Will understand the criminal person and his mind towards a citizen who has been robbed or killed
Too bad ala chilakalipa what these thieves do
wow!!! Zambian students in Russia, sent by GOVT, are suffering. These are the previous President, Ministers, PS and their monions’s children. Not even one is from a completely unconnected poor family. PF is trying to teach previous leaders a lesson. Lets wait for 2016. HH will also punish them.
how does he become a victory ministries international pastor to day?.are we serious as journalists.i find this to be very unethical
its fine..the chap died a good death..what would you do if they raped your daughter ba Rev.Sekwila Mumba..?lets not pretend..Justice was done..
When we take matters into our own hands and refuse a 21st century requirement for the due process, we choose to live in a stone age society our backwardness and poverty not surprising anyone.
Try to be civilized and not given to animal instincts for once and join the world of the 21st century. No
Criminal act, murder by the mob get these dogs to justice so they can learn. We talked long enough and the rule of law undermined.
Good for that theif
When top government leaders fall short of condenming violence, this unfortunately is the result. People do not have boundaries of behaviour when the head of state is always cracking jokes. It appears leadership in real sense no longer exist. The biggest preacher of violence, intimidation and foul mouthed explitives in Zambia is CNP himself. He fails to condenm lawlessness of PF cadres along with police’s lack of impartiality in dealing with some cases. So people in forgotten compounds with no names do not see how police would help them. Either way this is a sad development and a sign of total chaos that we were warned about by condemn Chanda Chimba III. What CNP must do now is call for a press conference to and condemn mob justice in strongest terms.
But I doubt we will do anything. He is living a dream, smoking cigars and pipes of malijuana on the side while sipping expensive champaign those rotten teeth could never have touched. An oblivious individual so hell-bend in chasing his critics rather devising policy solution for poor people he has left to murder each other. We need devine intervention, what a president…!
LT leave my posts alone, this is the only we can express ourselves. Parliamentarians are being gagged, opposition cannot hold rallies without interference and opposition leaders are constantly being hounded in out courts. Is this the democracy we fought for in 1991. FTJ, Mwanawasa, Athur Wina would be turning in their graves.
Such happens when people are frustrated and police don’t seem to be helping. You can call these people primitive but do you just understand how it is living next to these criminal where crime is the order of the day…. every time you have to watch your back and police are no where to be seen???? Thats what goes on in most of these compounds… criminals rule, so the community has to do what they have to do which is defend themselves and get justice.
It just shows that people have no confidence in the judiciary and the Police, they have achieved justice the way criminals understand. Mumba has no idea of how people suffer in the compounds because of these criminals.Â
