Media potraying GBM’s corruption allegations as more serious than Wynter Kabimba’s -2011 Campaign Manager

Share

Defense Minster Geofrey Mwamba’s Former Campaign Manager in Kasama Central Constituency in the 2011 tripartite elections,Mr Nathan Ilunga, has accused the media of trying to paint GBM as the most corrupt of the two Ministers accused of corruption.

In a statement released to the Mr Illunga said that unlike GBM who is being accused of soliciting for a bribe, Justice Minster Wynter Kabimba is being accused of receiving a kick back , which according to him is worse that what GBM is being accused of.

Below is the full media statement.

PRESS STATEMENT

7TH OCTOBER, 2012

RE: CORRUPTION INVESTIGATIONS AGAINST DEFENCE MINISTER GEOFFREY BWALYA MWAMBA,MP.

I am very disappointed that of the two ministers being probed of allegations of corruption, GBM’s case is being given prominence and portrayed as so serious while that of Wynter Kabimba is played down and only highlighted in a small way inside GBM’s story.

GMB’s company (ARIZONA) which he has left to family members to run now that he is in Government is said to have been registered with the Registrar of Companies in 2003 meaning that it is a well established legal business entity which gas engaged in genuine lucrative transactions in the past.

The other fact is that GBM is not alleged to have solicited or lobbied a contract from the Ministry of Defence where he has direct influence.

In my own understanding and I stand to be corrected here, soliciting and/or lobbying can’t be more grievous in nature than receiving kick-backs which Kabimba is alleged to have been involved in. Therefore shadowing Kabimba’s case and giving prominence to a simple allegation of soliciting or persuading which sounds civil is clear enough to discern what is being schemed against GBM.

Even those calling for resignation are targeting their missiles at GBM alone but I want to say that GBM should not resign because under the circumstances there is no reason for that.

Yesterday on Saturday the 6th October, 2012 a large group of Kasama residents comprising marketers and other citizens staged a peaceful demonstration in solidarity with GMB and urged him to soldier on with his head high since they believe he is not corrupt but a powerful business person.

The demonstration was covered by both the public and private media so that the whole nation knows how the people of Kasama feel about the saga but this has been played down too except for Radio Mano, a community radio station disseminated this information within their catchment area but for other media houses it’s like there is an invisible hand conjuring up tricks so that they continue to reporting negatively about GBM.

Lastly, the same purported invisible hand or group of GBM’s rivals seem so determined to plot his downfall by peddling corruption allegations and set the system against him since they know the man at the helm of the system his Excellency President Michael Chilufya Sata is allergic to the vice.

Don’t’ worry GBM they are just jealousy and fearful of you and if God is for you who are they to tarnish your image and profile which you have toiled form over a substantial period of time to raise to such high levels.

Signed
Nathan Ilunga (Mr)
Former Campaign Manager for GBM in Kasama Central Constituency
(2011 tripartite elections)

    • Comrade you are such a tribal element who wont go anywhere, debate issues and dont talk abt tribe. any normal being can see that theirs a calculate move to dent gbms name.analyse issues not tribe!

  1. It is Sad that just in a few days in office GBM is denting our tribe. No wonder Tongas find it hard to work with us bembas because we are thieves and worse when it comes to tribalism but we are fast at pointing fingers to other tribes

    • you are just tribalist man, dont talk abt tribe. mmembe ad kabimba are up to no good, why is the post not talking abt kabimba?

    • Don’t defend the undefendeable This thug is an embarrassment to the Bemba fraternity . Tendalama sha Ba noko shabombele muma campaign

  2. Nathan your story is good but you should have avoided biasness. I for one would like to see the men step down at their on accord to wait for the outcome of the probe. That is what honourable men do.

  3. Both GBM and Kabimba should resign. Or Sata fire them! The ACC is a toothless bull dog. Its a laughing stalk since when has it ever arrested a sitting Minister????? Unless otherwise that the president acts. This is a useless institution, let them prove us wrong on this (GBM and Kabimba and the 14billion DBZ Mmembe mess &trucks). Look at the corrupt police in the C/B on Jerabo pay roll does ACC need instructions seriously?. Also ,Remember the Kashiwa Bulaya case-it was until after vacating office. The ACC must prove their efficiency and independence by extending the arrest (not investigations) to Judge Chipoka who is corruptly stealing poor tax payers’ money without service delivery…

  4. GBM be aware of the enemies u are fighting. They are an evil clique. Be careful. Remain strong and do not resign. We need u there. Winter is a corrupt little fella. Ignore him. Winters corruption will consume him.

  5. But I dont envy ba GBM mwandi! He is really in a fix. All this machinations points to the fact that he is now panicking. Kabimba is educated and smart. GBM is ilitrate and arrogant.

  6. No matter what adverse publicity about you GBM stand don’t resign because the people of Zambia and KASAMA in particular won’t spare you kabimba and The Post are simply playing on your mind

  7. Seriously… No one cares who is perceived to be more corrupt. People care about corrupt actions and both are being probed to determine if there is a perception of corruption by their respective employer. The results will be what opinions will be formulated on. Everyone has the right to speculate about guilt or innocence. The high moral ground is not up for grabs for it lies with the people of Zambia. A morality check is overdue in politics the world over. Oh looky here. Methinks me is a tad pissed off by politics. Shutting down :)

  8. even if the corruption cases are true NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. these two r giant pf machines and close to the president, who can push them? or have u heard the president saying something against the two, ”IT CANT NEVER’. its just one of those stories period. if they were opposition yes, the case would have been in court by now!!!’

  9. kabimba gave a cut he got from the oil deal to mmembe, that is the reason why gbm is to be sacrifised to keep looting on their side.watchout zambians, mmembe and kabimba are not up to no good!

  10. GBM must remember the ZAF officers (general & colonel) refused to be part of the nonsense. If ACC is clever they can as well call on them. In fact SATA was too quick to retire them in national interest. Those Officers must speak out now before ACC or task force on Corruption

  11. This story of the two bring to the table the attestation to Sata’s governance especially that the accused are both his right-hand. The shame it bestows on Sata and his cabinet, within a year’s time of leadership, is much to ponder upon. The action he takes will show whether what he did with Zamtel, Zambia Railways and other firms was in good faith. Let him redeem himself of the corruption warfare by being the same and with the same approach regardless of whoever is named or perceived as corrupt. Needless to say, both these gentlemen should resign to allow smooth investigations. That is the normal way to handle themselves; take absence of leave until proven not guilty. The they can be re-appointed once exonerated. I am hoping that PF will not be grass to suffer.

  12. The president,s decision on these two, will either make or ruin his image forever.Cant wait to see what actions he will take.

  13. The english in this article is just terrible. Look people, if ACC is really serious about this corruption matter, let the corrupt be found, prosecuted and pronounced guilty/innocent. What’s the perpetual rumbling all about kanshi? Na pa sunday.

    • everyone is has concluded that they should resign when these people have not been PROVEN to have cases, they are still being INVESTIGATED for allegations of corruption. wait for case to be proven or taken to court

  14. “Yesterday on Saturday the 6th October, 2012 a large group of Kasama residents comprising marketers and other citizens staged a peaceful demonstration in solidarity with GMB and urged him to soldier on with his head high since they believe he is not corrupt but a powerful business person.” Where was the PF plolice?Did they obtain a permit to do so?Double standards.Shame on all of you demonstrators supporting currupt practices

  15. Cheap politics at play.GBM must go rather than organizing people he feeds to start supporting him.Dont trust Politicians.

  16. Is it true GBM is losing favor so soon? Going by the Post headlines in today edition. Mmembe why do you hate people so much as though yourself you are clean. Keep counting the days as one of these days you will find yourself on the other side of the coin. GBM sorry about this development, now can you show us what you are made of. Remember GBM just a short while ago you were quick to command the police to act, and calling online news sites useless now you will find them useful that is if they give your side of story space on their pages

  17. Surely we can do better than this in electing our leaders. This is not the leadership we deserve! GBM is incapable of articulating national issues neither can he offer visionary leadership that is so much required at this stage in our political and economic development. This does not have it between the ears. He should have stuck to his so called businesses!

  18. How do this guy issue statements when there is an ongoing investigation against him only in Zambia. Mr. President there is no better time to call for a press conference at State House; we just can not have in-fighting by two top brass cabinet officials at the national’s expense. What is it going to take for this president to have a press conference?

  19. FOR AS LONS AS PF REMAINS IN GOVERNMENT.NONE OF THE TWO WILL BE FOUND GUILTY.
YOU WILL ONLY BE GUILTY IF YOU ARE FIRED OR PF IS OUT OF GOVERNING THIS COUNTRY.
PEOPLE ARE WASTING THEIR TIME TO POINT FINGERS AS TO WHO IS CORRUPT.
I SINCERELY WISH ZAMBIANS WILL UNDERSTAND THAT AS LONG AS LONG AS YOU ARE A MINISTER THEN YOU ARE AN ANGEL AND CAN NEVER BE CORRUPT

  20. why is fred mmembe hotly pursuing GBM? This is what i call samone pushing his lucky too far. Dealing with people bases on how much you like or dont like them is no good [-(

  21. Not long ago you rejoiced when the same media you are blaming was writing S.H.I.T about HH. ang your GBM was busy responding with vermon to false allegations by membe against HH. don’t complain we told you that membe is up to no good. its your time to dance to his music

  22. We Bemba’s are naturally clever, and people miss inter plate it for thieving. ukutola tekwiba (when you pick something it’s not stealing). We are occupying all major positions in government now which is the sign of our being super brains of the nation. We are soon having a university in Newest province because our kinds there pass grade twelve with very good points than the lest of the country. So we know why this persecution is coming to GBM

  23. they are all suppose to be investigated Mr president please suspend them kabimba feels him being a lawyer is untouchable.

  24. “Your sin is bigger than mine” – an evil man trying to justify his evilness. Some chaps have no shame at all.

  25. Where is Ukwa imwe please? is the nigga scared? its true if he cant manage to look at his disorderly tooth, he cant definitely manage to handle the affairs of the nation. Look at the drama.

  26. i’v been folowin ths wth keen intrst,bt the rate at wch d post is reportin ths,.goes beyond public interest..the ar includin emotions…it shows how much u want 2 dent gbm’s image..gbm went to zesco to solicitate 4 a contract,wh did he see?,name
