Share

Zambia and TP Mazembe midfielder Rainford Kalaba has been ruled of Saturday crucial 2013 Africa Cup qualifier away to Uganda in Kampala because of injury.

TP Mazembe revealed that Kalaba sustained a groin injury in his Congolese side’s 0-0  Africa Champions League semi-final draw against Esperance on Sunday in Lubumbashi.

Mazembe team doctor Taha Messaoud told BBC Sport:”He needs a minimum seven days to be back in training. His injury is not too bad but he needs a lot of care. It will be very difficult for him to play by weekend.”

Confirming his injury, Kalaba said he was disappointed to miss the decisive Africa Cup qualifier.

“I am very disappointed because it’s a crucial game for us. If we don’t qualify, people back home will not understand. I just pray that the guys get a positive result in Uganda. I believe in them and I know they will do wonders,” said Kalaba.
Zambia set up camp in South Africa on Sunday ahead of the Uganda match and trained on Monday.

  1. No problem we don’t need him, he is spent force (I feel pity for him cos. he cant even read nor write, 4nteen, who missed a crucial penalty at AFCON) Soccer is his lifehood, manje what else can the poor boy do?

  2. Now Zambians will get an excuse when they lose to the Uganda Cranes. I wanted Rainford Kalaba to be on the team playing in Namboole. This will give the Zambians a reason to excuse themselves after they have lost. I have watched the Zambian soccer video clips and over 80% of zambian goals have been created by this little man. Zambians might consoling themsleves that they don’t need the Rainford Kalaba but deep in their heart, they know that the Katongos and Mayukas are nothing without Kalaba to feed them. Zambia is now total dead nyama choma. You can’t have a grief-stricken Mulenga on the field and expect wonders from him. With Kalaba out and grief-stricken Mulenga, bring on the boys and let us teach the Zambians that Namboole is not a joking subject.

  3. Hahahahahaha……..Zambia effudde. The zambians know how this man is very important in their midfield. In such a crucial tie against the determined Cranes, you can’t afford to lose a man who dictates the flow of Zambian soccer on the field. I know Zambians are just consoling themselves when they say that they don’t need him. Kalaba is the heart of Zambian soccer on pitch and I wonder what type of soccer Zambia will play without Rainford Kalaba. This is the time for the Cranes to dominate the midfield because with Rainford Kalaba in, it was going to be 50-50. Now, the Uganda Cranes had an upper hand already. Go Uganda Cranes!!!!

  4. The heart of Zambian soccer on field is out. I think Uganda cranes should not have excuses of not beating Zambia this weekend. Rainford Kalaba should be a disappointed man because this match is very crucial. Players like Kalaba should tell Zambians that this weekend tie is a tricky one and Africa might not see a defending champion in South Africa. I think Zambia should start preparing for a situation where they will not see their soccer team defending their African crown. Like Kalaba said, Zambians are not easy people to understand and in his words, they will not understand when Zambia has failed to qualify. Zambia should now focus on hell in Namboole. Come Sunshine or Rain, Uganda Cranes will be in South Africa at the exoense of the African Champions.

    • These Zambians could be playing mind games.Guys do not be over-carried by their stuff.Just concentrate on final preparations and kick-off the ball.
