Sudan FA: We Will Appeal FIFA Ruling

Share

Sudan has said it will exhaust all legal paths to reclaim the three points they have lost to Zambia.

The Sudan Football Association said in a statement on Tuesday that they never received any official notice that defender Saifeldin Ali Idris was ineligible to play in a 2014 FIFA World Cup Group qualifier against Zambia on June2 in Khartoum that the hosts won 2-0.

“SFA confirms they did not receive verbal or written notice by FIFA or CAF preventing him (Saifeldin Ali Idris from involving the player in the mentioned game,” SFA said in a statement.

“SFA will follow all legal avenues to recover the Sudan rights in this case.”

Saifeldin was suspended in his last competitive match prior to June 2 clash after his sending-off on February 4 in a 2012 Africa Cup in a 3-0 quarterfinal loss to Zambia in Bata, Equatorial Guinea.

“Based on our confidence in the validity of our legal position, we have to appeal a decision to the Discipline Committee issued on the fourth of October 2012 and the recipient via DHL on the eighth of October 2012,” The Sudan FA stated.

“Today- Tuesday 9th October 2012, we have sent to the appeals to the Disciplinary Committee of the Federation International de Football Associations (FIFA).”

    • This FIFA rule has nothing to do with Kalu. Check the rules:
      Article 55 Ineligibility
      1. If a player takes part in an official match despite being ineligible, his team will be sanctioned by forfeiting the match (cf. art. 31) and paying a minimum fi ne of CHF 6,000.
      2. If a player takes part in a friendly match despite being ineligible, his team will be sanctioned by forfeiting the match and paying a minimum fi ne of CHF 4,000.

      Article 31 Forfeit
      1. Teams sanctioned with a forfeit are considered to have lost the match by 3-0.
      2. If the goal difference at the end of the match in question is greater than 3-0, the result on the pitch is upheld.

  1. Are you as SFA not supposed to be conversant with the rules of the game? Are you confirming to us that all those bloggers who pointed that you had fielded an ineligible player got a notice from FIFA. You shuold read the rules and used your lawyers before you fielded the player.  ….. After all is it not true that you were hoping for a fine as opposed to losig points? So why the change?

Fellow bloggers am posting thes questions on a Sudan paper, unless you have answers for me.

  2. SFA, how do you expect FIFA to write you that the player you are fielding is not eligible. That is not FIFA’s job. This is why you have your own administration. The other thing is, when Zambia protested, the player was left out when Sudan played Swiziland. So they were aware of the situation. It is sad but SFA needed to do their due deligence..Go Chipolopolo…

  3. “SFA confirms they did not receive verbal or written notice by FIFA or CAF preventing him (Saifeldin Ali Idris from involving the player in the mentioned game,” SFA said in a statement.

This very funny. FIFA and CAF should be telling SFA who is eligible. Ignorance of the laws and rules of FIFA is not defence. Sudan blew me of laughter. Ask Bafana Bafana about CAF/FIFA rules.

  4. “SFA confirms they did not receive verbal or written notice by FIFA or CAF preventing him (Saifeldin Ali Idris from involving the player in the mentioned game,” SFA said in a statement.

These chaps must be eedyaaaats hey! It is your (SFA) responsibilty to make sure that, ALL your players are eligible to participate in any or all upcoming matches. You knew what the issue was from the beginning…I guess you thought FAZ was not going to persue this issue further? Good luck with your appeal, which you will not win by the way. BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZIL, here comes ZAMBIA baby!! Whoooo hooo!

  5. THE LOGIC OF WAR MONGERS.REALLY,WHATS THE JOB OF TEAM MANAGER,THEN THE SUDAN FA ITSELF?THIS IS THE MST ABSURD REASONING,THEY WANT FIFA AND CAF TO BE MONITORING THEIR PLAYERS.THIS IS THE MOST IRRESPONSIBLE REASON FOR APPEAL EVER,PLIZ SUDAN DO NOT EMBARRASS AFRICA.ACCEPT YOUR FOOLISHNESS,IT HATES BUT IT WILL SET YOU FREE FROM PUTTING INTO OFFICE IGNORANT DANDERHEADS.

  6. Meaning the pact between a Zambian political party and the Sudanese political party is under serious threat

  7. I do not think FIFA and/ or CAF have the obligation to read the rules of the game apart from formulating and enforcing them. Just forget about it, Don’t cry over spilled Milk

  8. PF do not send our young boys to Sudan as per YOUR CRAZY Plan, they will be killed by the JANJAWEED who smoke weed there.

    • chikala chobe are we talking about jajaweed here. My friend PF was voted for by the people and will be in power for next 4 years.it is even likely that PF will again win the 2016 elections because MMD is forgotten and UPND is a tribal party which zambians dont like. Wavela iwe.

  9. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF FIFA CHANGING A RULING EVEN WHEN YOU THINK YOU ARE RIGHT. SUDAN SHOULD KNOW THAT THE CONCLUSION CAME AFTER EVERYTHING WAS CONSIDERED. SO AM SURE SUDAN WILL WASTE THEIR TIME. I WOULD RATHER THEY CONCENTRATE ON THEIR STREGTH- THE  AFRICA CUP.

  10. There goes the so-called African Champions. The whole world knows how Zambia fluked the African Cup of Nations title and now instead of winning the match on the field, they have resorted on winning matches in the board room. What type of African champions are these? They are not even fit to represent Africa in any World Cup tournament if they are a kind of soccer nation that fights for free points it didn’t even win. This is a team that will complain and has a series of excuses at nay event and anytime. Africa does not need Zambia in the world cup because they will be a shame. They will complain right from the pitches, weather, players they have played against to fans who watch the matches. I am serious waiting for Uganda to do the justice this weekend. The whole knows that Zambia fluked!

    • Soccer legend you must be incredibly stupid, foolish and dull. Zambia won the africa cup on merit, beat all the so called favourites and lifted that cup against the wishes of the elite in CAF! Dont just open your mouth and talk rubbish. like they say, if you aint gat nothing nice to say shut up. Dont show your arrogance & ignorance in public. Zambia is going to next years AFCON and u will be in for another rude shock coz we are going to defend our title.

  11. @Soccer Legend
FIFA have rules and they are not meant for Zambia and there is no Zambian on the FIFA disciplinary committee. Here are the rules:

  12. @Soccer Legend let us not show our bitterness like HH…Zambia beat 6 teams to lift the AFCON. How can that be a fluke. You are really a myopic ‘soccer legend’ and do not know Zambian soccer. Zambia came out fighting in Angola and it was evident they were going to fight for honours in AFCON 2012 but your type never believed…you now have bile to swallow. Sorry Chipolopolo are Champs! That’s what matters!

  13. They are still showing their naivete on how FIFA operates. Appealing a fifa disciplinary comittee decision?? Ask Ireland and the Thirey Henry hand of god. Ask South Africa about their ‘win’ which saw them crush out of the Afcon 2012 qualifier. You can even ask Zambia about the Diramba protests of 1994.

  14. Thats the spirit atleast ure arguing with facts and thanks 4 highliting wit the fifa articles thats wat we want not insults wen u fail to make a point.

  15. Are we dealing with south or north sudan in this case? Infact we shall revoke the declaration of two countries because u cheated again to feature players from two different sovereign Nations. Please let the sleeping dogs lie, manje mwaushe kenzelele.

  16. oh please..SFA..pull ur selves together and stop being petty..its not fifa or caf’s duty to remind you the rules of the game..honestly u don’t expect the governing body to remind you in writing that you only need one goalkeeper for each side during a match..ha ha ha!..surely you expect fifa to turn around and encourage wronging doing??..you are a joke of an authority and an embrassment to the sudanese people..just forget and move on..its all but lost now..tough

  17. Enough said my fellow soccer fans. Can someone tell me if Sunzu is elligible to play this weekend taking into account his red card when he played for TP Mazambe against Esparance.Remember,it was a CAF competetion and the game against Uganda is also a CAF competetition. We do not want to fall into the same trap.Faz please clarify!!!

  18. Rules of football are very clear! this SFA must shut up! The points are ours as SFA did not obey the rules of the game. Imagine it was Zambia who did that? They would not leave us but make sure we are charged or even banned! Congrats Kalusha and executive!

  19. Cheap points! if Sudan Cheated, then sudan must be punished. not everybody else in the group. How did Zambia win the three point? points are won on games won PERIOD. FIFA is playing defense because it failed to do it’s due diligence in informing SFA that the player is inelligible.  IF indeed, FIFA and CAF had to inform sudan, then they are just trying to protect themselves by awarding points to zambia. otherwise, who would be blamed? …… yeah, so they would rather put it on Sudan.

  20. someone should answer di monked no 24 question we are supposed to know about it. The sooner the better its really for faz to keep quiet about this issue.Who gonna answer this question? Is it Faz or sports minister Kabwi we need an answer so…on please.

    • Tel me you are stupid…rules are meant to be followed. Actually its good so that u hate us more who cares. Appeal then you will be eliminated from all competitions bring it on….Di monk Sunzu will play…

  21. Susan FA: ha ha ha what a lame excuse – honestly you expected someone to remind you about the rules of the game? What’s the job of your technical committee ? You guys suck …hope this has tougher you a lesson …your ignorance is Zambias gain …losers lol

  22. You do not have to be informed that your player is ineligible to play. Why not consult in the first place. In fact, why did they withdrew him from playing against Lesotho. Its because they realized that they made a mistake to play him against Zambia. Remember the case of South Africa during the Africa cup qualification. Where they supposed to be informed that they were not supposed to draw. If you commit a crime, are you supposed to be informed that you are not supposed to do it? If sudan is not punished, then there will be chaos in football. Teams will be playing players on cards siting the example of Sudan. T.P Mazembe was ejected from the prestigious caf competition on similar grounds. They played an unregistered player. Where they supposed to be informed??? Rules are rules.
