THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said that preliminary investigations against Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba and his Justice counterpart Wynter Kabimba are proceeding well and have since reached an advanced stage.
Mr Mwamba is alleged to have recently solicited for a contract to supply and deliver Zesco poles while Mr Kabimba is being investigated on purported oil contract deals.
ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono said the Commission was not experiencing any interference from any political players as it carried out the investigations on the duo.
Mr Moono said the ACC was carrying out the investigations on the two without fear or favour.
He said this yesterday in response to a press query in view of some sections of the media alleging that the ACC was under pressure to clear Mr Kabimba of the allegations.
“The ACC is carrying out investigations without fear or favour and the concerns from stakeholders as expected, are unfounded. The Commission is not experiencing any interference from anybody whether political players or not,” he said.
He said the ACC Act number 3 of 2012, provided that the Commission should not, in the performance of its duties, be subjected to the direction or control of any person or authority and thus it was freely carrying out its mandate.
“The Commission values the support that it is receiving from various members of the public and is resolved to execute its mandate in the investigations and all its other functions professionally and diligently,” he said.
Who care’s !! If there is a case the nation would have been told by now. How long and why would it take weeks to investigate a case when both of these A.s.s. holes are Zambians ?? This is a political stance which is sad to see becoz govt after govt treats Zamians like kids if not fools. Watch this investigation won’t yeild any results. Waste of time !!

it has already been predetermined by Fred Mmembe. in the eyes of Fred Mmembe, Kabimba is not guilt but GBM is. Just read the articles in the Post about these allegations. You’ll know that Mmembe is trying by all means to make sure GBM is found with a case to answer. So ACC should not cheat us that they have concluded their investigations. I wonder why even the Post has to write about a case which is being investigated. my own conclusion is that Mmembe is allergic to successful people. Ya alrihgt them investigstions take long time to complete and, we think that you are not disclosing some grey areas, as meaning that whatever the outcomes of the investigations are, they will biase the two suspects in a positive manner. For instance, you did not close to the end-consumers of these outcomes of investigations that the ACC attempted to compel the suspects to visit the ACC premises or not. Why are the suspects not served with directives to visit the ACC offices for intence questioning like any other suspect. The ACC is giving them special treatment. Hence we argue that the outcome is alread compromised.

I keep wondering as to who should be winning govt tenders. Zambian or foreigners. If Zambians, is it those in opposition or those in govt or those out of politics? If all of them, why the cry when some of them get it, especially if they applied like anyone else but provided good bid and thus winning.

The ACC should always inform the general public about the on-going investigations around the clock, as meaning that the ACC should avoid creating a condition in which the masses will reciprocate suspicions and turn them into what anyone can internalise as facts and inevitably identify with it. The ACC’s quiet attitude with uncertain underlying motives, in itself is a spark which is more than capable of fuelling rumours that can undo their work they have put together thus far. Disclosures which emanated from GBM are indicative that the original intentions from this fellow were of criminal intent. Note that the intent element which exist constitutes a crime. I have really failed to understand why GBM should be persued for tendering for a contract that was advertised. Chinese companies have contracts all over zambia with contract values far far more than the zesco tender. Almost all the road contracts in zambia with values as high as K300 billion are being done by chinese people. When GBM tenders, mwaimya akawele, why?

JUSTICE minister Wynter Kabimba says his differences with defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba are on principle.
Kabimba, who is PF secretary general, said there was no compromise between those that were in government to make money and him who was there to serve the people.
