President Michael Sata has assured all opposition MMD members of Parliament serving in the PF Government that his administration would take urgent and practical intervations to ensure that they are protected against all forms of harassment and intimidation.

The President’s pledge comes in the wake of frequent threats of expulsion that have been issued by the former ruling party on its parliamentarians that are currently serving as deputy ministers in the PF Government.

Mr Sata said this today in a press statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka by Special Assistant to the President for press and Public Relations, George Chellah, adding that as progressive politicians, immediately the PF Government assumed office, the Head of state co-opted opposition MMD Members of Parliament into his Government.

Mr Sata said he appointed the former ruling party’s MPs purely in the spirit of inclusivity and desire to transform the country to new heights.

He stated that the PF’s aspirations have always been to utilise the proficiency and competencies of citizens who are willing to serve their mother land irrespective of their social or political attachments.

He added that there is no way the head f of state and Government in particular will ever marginalise or ditch the MMD opposition MPs.

President Sata further eluded that together, the PF administration and opposition MPs choose to work together in the interest of the country and that the PF administration shall deliver to the interest of the Zambian people.

Mr Sata stated that as Head of State and President of the Patriotic Front Party, he will endeavour to undertake to protect and defend people both in and outside Government until his administration triumph over adversity just like the party has done in Mufumbwe.

“Even in the worst case scenario, their parliamentary seats are safe as they are guaranteed adoption under the PF ticket. I encourage them to draw comfort, courage and lesson from Hon Stephen Masumba’s case,” President Sata said.

Mr Sata said Mr Masumba’s adoption and subsequent victory speaks volumes of Government’s commitment to work and stand by colleagues even amidst difficulties.

He also urged the parliamentarians to ignore MMD President, Nevers Mumba’s lies, greediness and intimidation.

“We are in a hurry for development and there is no space for trivial and egoistic politics because this country requires devoted leadership and as Government, we are determined to navigate the challenges and contours of the future just to ensure that we improve the quality of life for our people and subsequently restore their dignity,” the President said.

Meanwhile, President Sata has swapped Northern Province Permanent Secretary Emmanuel Mwamba with his counterpart Hlobotha Nkunika from Eastern Province.

The Head of State wishes the duo successes and God’s blessings in their new provinces.

  1. indeed, let em join the party that is very progressive rather than serving in opposition. join the boat that sails to greater goodness. its a boat designed not to capsize with our good captain H.E M.C.S.

  2. Continue appointing them king Cobra it happens everywhere as it promotes a spirit of oneness .Even Obama is reported to be considering appointing a republican as secretary of state.

  3. SATA IS AN EXPERIENCED POLITICIAN WHO UNDERSTANDS THAT VOTERS IN CONSTITUENCIES LIKE AND ASSOCIATE MORE WITH THE INDIVIDUALS THEY PREFER AS LEADERS RATHER THAN THE PARTIES TO WHICH THOSE PEOPLE BELONG. THIS SIMPLY MEANS THAT IF YOU’RE THE CHOSEN ONE AND ALSO SPLUSH A BIT OF KWACHA AROUND IT DOES NOT REALLY MATTER WHICH PARTY YOU BELONG TO.

  4. It is well known that PF rigged elections in Mufumbwe and intimidated voters massively, including vote buying. Any MMd MP who becomes arrogant about this will just end up losing his/her seat. The opposition have learnt their lesson now. The only thing to say is that it was a mistake for MMd to field a candidate when they are still so unpopular. The only loser in this election are the people of mufumbwe. Time will teach them a lesson that they will take generations to recover from. They look really stupid now.

  5. lies are easily seen and do not last, may God arise for those who are underprivileged in Zambia, those who are used for selfish ambitions, those who die due to lack of drugs in hospitals, those who go to bed without food, those whose human rights are catailed by those who are in authority today, those that are easily bought during campaigns. i know your God is alive.

  6. Fellow bloggers, let us desist from insulting but give our views constructively. Half a time most people miss a point and resort to insulting as way of self expression. We may belong to different groupings of divergent objectives but still debate issues and not cross one another. For our information, the majority of voters are people who have no access to internet or some form of communication to be well informed and decisive. Therefore, for well meaning and ardent supporters of particular parties more especially the opposition should do their home work correctly.
    Thanks.

  7. Stop lying Sata you m$&fk@r you never appointed anyone out of altruistic reasons it was just to weaken ba opposition. Now you say Mumba used lies & intimidation yet you ignore your own lies & voter intimidation by saying mfumbwe may not see development if they vote opposition.I hate hypocrites and m%@fk#%rs like you jinga kubwa.

  8. Tell us what happened to the Dr, where is she, how come you are zeee, we want to know now!LtT tell the president that i want to know where Doc keseba is by monday period!

  9. # 7, what’s your problem with our President’s wife? Don’t you have privacy in your life? Whether its true as reported by your brother’s paper (watch imbwa) that Dr. Kaseba is not at State House, its their right to privacy. Do you wanna tell us what happens in your matrimonial bed room? Come on grow up and stop popping your big nose into people’s marriages.

  10. Its # 9, what’s your problem with our President’s wife? Don’t you have privacy in your life? 11. Sata disliked this game when MMD appointed PF MPS as ministers. What is wrong with this guy? How I hate Bembas and Lozis for voting this fool into power.

  12. Geezus,i absolutely can never ever trust this Sata man .What has change from when you were in opposition and used to complain of the same.Your hypocrisy is maddeningly intoxicating and off putting.

  13. Sata is wooing the unprincipled men and women who ventured into politics for the sake of amassing money for themselves rather than use Parliament to fight for the plight of the poor in this country. The term DEMOCRACY has never been part of Sata as it irritates him. Hence his adherance to violence and propagation of lies. That is how he cheated and dribbled Inonge Wina with promises of giving her the Republican Vice Presidency and used her to lie on the Barotse Agreement issues. Let Sata put his own bedroom and family in order for him to appreciate the needs of other famililies and the nation at large.

  14. Kaili most MMD MP’s are unprincipled & poor characters.thats y they’r so easy to woo.Yah, & why does he only target MMD MP’s,is he scared of UPND MP’s or he just hates them……or maybe he knos that UPND MP’s are principled & cannot be swayed by cheap lies….or better stil,he’s scared of starting a fight with HH !

    • 1. Maybe they are too dull to be in PF. Or they are deluded that maybe they may grow beyond SP in future and enter state house

  15. “We are in a hurry for development and there is no space for trivial and egoistic politics because this country requires devoted leadership and as Government, we are determined to navigate the challenges and contours of the future just to ensure that we improve the quality of life for our people and subsequently restore their dignity,”

  16. @ Tumbuka Pride mwayowoya unenesko mwanawakwithu, sometimes I tend to wonder what kind of change the people of Zambia voted for, to call Sata and his morons change is a falacy- INDEED THE MORE THINGS CHANGE THE MORE THEY REMAIN THE SAME.

  17. Change is disruptive because it makes the comfort zone a danger zone! I am beginning to sense that soon we will be held accountable for playing politics with people’s lives. Remember how Obama and Romney set politics aside to deal with the Hurricane Sandy fallouts? That is what we need – separate rhetoric from realtime functionality on the ground! I hope this is the change that is unfolding.

  18. Mr. President where is the first lady? ..Don’t be so exicted about Mufumbwe easy..you will in 2016 boss..but for now HON Sampa can still keep me and my fellow Tongas.

  19. Sata was heavilhy expelling the MPS from PF that agreed to serve in the MMD Govt., today he is saying he is an all inclusive man.

why is he NOT appointed those from UPND?
Why is he concentrating on MMD Mps?

Is it cause he knows MMD has lost power and wants to finish it off???

    By bringing confusion in MMD.

sata do what u preach, or sorry, u are an adulterous OLD man.

  20. Mr. President we hope this is for the good of the country not a political motive to make Zambia a 1 party State. Surprising that you had rejected the Move when MMD did the same. Is this now typical copy cut of what MMD government was doing? I expect something different from PF.

  21. Zambians, if the purpose of this is to integrate opposition in to the Government, for the best interest of the Country, then well and Good.
MY QUESTION comes that why then; do we Re-call most people in Diplomatic missions when there is a change of POWER?? I THOUGHT they are CIVAL SERVANTS and should serve GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY? The practice of replacing them with party cadres should end. It is costly for the country and just continues hate and cadre empowerment. We want people in these missions that can work for ZAMBIANS and bring in proper investors in to the country. I EXPECTED PF TO CHANGE AND BRING NEW ERA BUT, ALL SAME OLD PRACTICES.

  22. Patriotic front leader Michael Sata has questioned what the adopted rebel members of parliament would offer to the electorates if they were to be elected for the second time.

Commenting on the adoption of the 5 former PF rebel MPS by the MMD party, opposition leader cautioned the people of Zambia against voting the rebel MPs in this year%u2019s elections.

Mr. Sata has however noted that rebel mps have been fielded in the PF strongholds are headed for doom.
Mr. Sata has since urged the people to carefully scrutinize the parliamentary candidates and ensure that choose people who will represent them effectively.

i quote the words of sata, no wonder there are no teeth left in his mouth because of too many reverse gears on the things he says.

    concerned citizen

  23. When people say that this man is a lair and a con artist people think we are bitter.
Sata’s intelligence is only biased on disruptive things like violence, bad language , nepotism , tribalism and fake promises. A lot of political opponents died during this man’s tenure with the friend Chiluba ( mpenza, christone Tembo). Chiluba himself saw Sata’s dark side no wonder he never appointed him to be president but went to get late Mwanawasa from the farm. we have now concluded that the only BA 1964 Sata meant during Campaigns was INUTU SUBA.

  24. he thought all ladies were the same. ask why dd he send oil to malawi. He just wanted the gelo. the invitation to independence day celebration was personal no wonder she turned it down. tried tu ma sms she just ignored.

    • When you wish someone bad, just know that you doing the same to yourself, if you wish death on somebody, you bless them with life and shortens yours, so becareful what you bring out from your heart you may just shortening your own life!

  25. Zambia could be the new nr 1 country in Africa. President Sata is doing a good job. I think they need to focus a little more on town planning, as with all the new prospects of mines, they need factories, with factories, they need smaller businesses and all will employ people. For a good system, you need infrastucture and a good town planning engineer. They need services with water, electricity, sewage etc.. There is so much opportunities and know is the time to get out there and make a difference!
