Professor Clive Chirwa walks away with the Distinction of the Year Award during the UK Zambia Excellence awards ceremony in London
Professor Clive Chirwa

President Sata has appointed Professor Clive Chirwa as Zambia Railways Limited Chief Executive Officer.

Prof. Chirwa replaces Mr. Knox Karima, who has been retired in national interest.

This is according to a statement issued by the President’s Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations George Chellah

“I have deemed it appropriate and opportune to appoint you Chief Executive Officer of Zambia Railways Limited. Your appointment is with immediate effect for a period of five (5) years,” read President Sata’s letter to Prof. Chirwa in part.

The Head of State stated that the rail line has deteriorated beyond description during the concession to Railway Systems of Zambia, which the Government recently terminated.

“Millions of tonnes of both our imports and exports which should have been transported by rail were diverted to road transport in the process exerting a very severe toll on our roads. The costs to the economy has been and is unsustainable,” President Sata stated.

President Sata further stated that it would take a lot of effort to sort out the country’s rail line including the inter-mine rail, which is so critical to the efficiency of the mining sector.

“However, I have confidence in your ability to use your vast reservoir of knowledge to help our country to revamp the railway network that results in a rail system that will create the necessary economic impetus,” President Sata stated.

“Government has taken a positive move in this direction by allocating K640 billion for the rehabilitation of the rail line.”

Meanwhile, President Sata has given former Zambia Railways Limited Chief Executive Officer Mr. Knox Karima a one month notice in which to facilitate a smooth hand-over to the incoming Chief Executive Officer.

The President has thanked Mr. Karima for the services rendered during his tenure of office.

Prof. Chirwa is a distinguished Professor of Automotive & Aerospace Structures and Chair of Automotive & Aerospace Engineering. He is also Editor-in-Chief of The International Journal of Crashworthiness and Advisor to UK, Australia, USA, EU, Japan, Canada and Singapore Gov. on Trans Safety among many other internationally recognised credentials and achievements.

  1. Prof Chirwa welcome back HOME. spend enough time to understand the problems of ZR System. It has NO system. Make an impact which the country shall see and benefit from. problems of ZR are not quick fixes but long term planning.

Word of caution, if u fail, CNP will finish u off and insult u that we gave u ZR and u failed. what type of prof are u. CNP scods pipo in day light ask the Military Generals and Police.

This is the one appointment I can praise Ukwa for….. for NOW.

  2. Yay for prof.chirwa ..hmmm but as a public servant myself..i know its not a walk in the park esp when politics get in the way.but heres wishing him the best of luck..

  3. Excellent choice. Professor Chirwa has alot of contacts around the global unlike ka under5 who is only known in Mapanza area.

  4. Another person not as educated as me, and being given high position
what of people like me researching the PhD?

    I need answers!

    Thanks

  5. I think the best way to use the professor is to put him in science and technology. We need to start building a knowledge based economy. Science is key to the long term growth of this economy. Most of our forex is spent on buying technology from advanced industrial economies. This is all because we have neglected to develop in the area of science and technology.

  6. Why is he a proffesor when he has ceased lecturing
    Pathetic

What of us with MBA, CIMa ACCA, MSc, Bsc oxford Brookes, Grade 12, 22 points, Grade 7 certificate and researching their PhD?

    Thanks

    • 22 points was good passing in the 70s and 80s before exam papers started leaking and exam writing coaching centres opened up.

    • My friend you don’t research a PhD. You do PhD research. After years of distinguished research, you earn a title of Professor which is bestowed on you for life, even when you are not lecturing. You do not need to be a Lecturer to be called a Professor. As for you Mushota, you need to decide on what you want to do. How can you have CIMA, ACCA, MBA PhD MSc and so on? what do you want to achieve? Specialise in one thing and get back home to Zambia. Maybe you are afraid your Visa will expire so you keep renewing Student visas and studying so many things. Go home!!

    • Chair of Automotive & Aerospace Structures
Head of Bolton Automotive & Aerospace Research Group
BEng (Hons), MSc (Auto Trans), MSc (Auto Struct), PhD (Struct Dyn), MSAE, MIVehE, FEIZ
mushota u are not close to this man…stop dreaming..

    • WOW at least i can stop arguing with you mushota, at least i now know that you got tu ma UN  on grade 12 exams, while and worse off you even have the course which every jimmy and jack has in ACCA no-wander. Let professor Clive be, being a professor means you have researched something that has added or improved the lives of people and does not mean that you are a lecture, no-wader you are researching what a PHD is…………………………

    • Mushota don’t cry foul, you don’t want to be associated with mother dirty Zambia as you call her. So whats so special about this appointment? You and your muzungu fiance are Scottish, Yes? You can observe Mushota darling but no complaints from you, as you have alienated yourself from mother Zedi..NO? Or are things changing? enlighten us, then definately with your qualifications and apt experience, you can apply for a job in Zambia, they certainly can consider you…

    • Mushota,
You are hopeless, I think you suffer a lot of inferiority complex and too petty/jealousy.
      What an *****…………………………

    • @ Mushota – you even have the guts to share your  22 points. Unless you finished school before the 90’s you will know that 22 points does not get you into university in Zambia. No wonder you you studied in UK either sponsored by rich uncle or the rich white boy friend you sing about. it explain a lot about you.

    • I pitty you, your ancestors and the poor beings that taught you from Kindergarten right up to were you are today. Empty tins make the loudest noise.

  7. Bravo sata Very Inclusive man..  way to go. we the youths are behind we dont want noise makers hh and doctor of disturbances mumba

  8. zambia is on course to economic prosperity, for those still in doubt on the good intentions of President Sata and the PF Government this appointment should serve as a yardstick of measuring those good intentions. The tribal politics of the enclave leader are for lost causes and those who are in perpetual dislussionment such as Sinyinda and HH not forgeting pastor Mumba. Zambias should reject mediocrity and bitterness of visionless politcians who peddle lies in the hope that PF will not deliver. From Link Zambia 8000, to now repositioning the rail transport. President Sata is visionary leader who wants to transform Zambia for the betterment of all Zambians. Watch the space and learn, HH will choke from this appointment while pastor will see his MPs dissapear from the shell of party!

  9. LETS WAIT AND SEE HOW THIS PROF. WILL PERFORM,,MR. SATA PLS SIR LEAVE HIM DO WHAT HE KNOWS..DO NOT PUSH HIM ALOT..BUT BE CAREFUL WITH HIM THIS PROF. WANTS THE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENCE AT ALL COST ,,WELL KEEP CHECKING HIM BEFORE HE TAKES OVER PF

  10. # 10 IS NOT NORMAL ,,PLS CONTINUE BEING IN POVERTY FOR EVER WITH YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY,,,THE PROF IS THERE FOR HIS CHILDREN ALONE LEAVING YOURS SUFFERING A LOT.

    • indeed what is your point i can see you are a very bitter person no need to guess that you belong to the bitter party. Some of us voted for Mazoka in 2001 as we saw leadership and future in for this country. Since the under 5 took over the party has lost direction it’s really sad come 2016 UPND will loss more seats. Lets give support to Pro Clive for his appointment mind you ZRA when it was in full swing it was not only involved in transportation business only. When Mazoka was the manager it used to make a lot of things as well bolts, wagons etc

  11. SATA MUDALA DO NOT PANICK ALOT…THE PROF. IS VERY UNGREATFUL MAN ..YOU SEE HIM LOOKING FOR A POLITICAL OFFICES..WAIT AS HE HE HAS AMBITION TO BE REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT

  12. Prof Chirwa will be under utilised, though it’s a good home coming in view of presidential….The best should have been for him to take over and over see ministry of works and supply with special emphasis on INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT especially building a state of the art KK or is it Lusaka  international airport to be in line with that of Singapore , Heathrow (UK) or even better than both as an interconnector  hub for the whole southern Africa region and beyond as opposed to a National Airline ….His cabinet contributions and international exposure would have been beneficial in every  respect than the CEO given!

  13. # 6, I agree with you.100% but better still, better to be home where he can easily handy.
It is true Scince and Technology has been neglected,

  14. This is one of the best appointment Sata has ever made since assuming office. If there`s a person that turn the railway system in our country,it is Prof Clive Chirwa.Gross mismanagement and incompetence has led to such massive losses. There`s no excuse for the Railways to be in red when there`s an economic boom in the mining and construction sectors.

  15. The 2nd right job offer by Sata, we could have seen such appointments under UPND.
But its good that Sata has brought Chirwa closer, to prepare him as next president, that’s why the contract is 5 years.

  16. VIVA THE POOR ZAMBIANS NO JOBS FOR US ONLY THE RICHER WILL BECOME THE RICHEST..THE POOR THE POOREST,,THIS ZAMBIAN WE ARE IN TODAY

  17. When will H.E. Sata give the role of appointments to the Boards? I beleive handpicking is the worst form of recruitment as it denies the opportunity to appoint the best candidate. it is not papers or titles which count but the vision and hands on skills of the person in the sector.

  18. VIVA THE POOR ZAMBIANS NO JOBS FOR US ONLY THE RICHER WILL BECOME THE RICHEST..THE POOR THE POOREST,,THIS ZAMBIAN WE ARE IN TODAY ..

  19. people think being a professor means you are a performer. you become prof when you do research and publish papers in a research institution or university. As to whether Prof Chirwa will or has the potential to perform is another question: let us wait and see. How many CEOs of successful companies in the world or Zambia are professors? By the way, did this man resign his position in UPND? Just heard lots of noise last time he came to Zambia visitng every institution?

    • You are an educated f.o.o.l if at all you are educated! How can someone advise USA UK, Japan and other first class countries and not be a performer?

  20. #5 and &#7–

I think you (Mushota) suffer from dementia. I see some element of psychosis in you.Whether or not your postings are meant to be jokes, there’s every reason to suspect a serious mental instability in you.

    • @Mushoto, I also don’t see why you deserve to breath the same air as normal people!!! You really, really, reeeeeealllllyyyyy need some serious introspetion over some stuff you post. Freedom of speech does not equal Stup!dity—-and you madam are loaded with it!!!

  21. Does this man live in this country or he will be running ZR by remote control? The President has really put this talkative man on test.I hope he wont be embarrassed like Aka at TAZARA

  22. Wow ! Now i  can see that the pabwato government is working.Congrats ba Sata and your crew …this is indeed a good development.Ba Chirwa please see to it that you do your level best to bring our railway network to international standards. This is without doubt a litmus test for you because your dignity and integrity is at stake incase you don`t deliver.

  23. This rat Mushota, is really an ***** to say the least. All the time i blog on this site, all i read is about this rat boasting of her imaginery qualifications….My advice to you bitch is that just open your legs for your pigilish skinned man to enter you and give you a bit of pounds so that you continue brousing the net and talk about those ACCA

  24. Good appointment. Now let us wait and see if Clive is both a theoretical and practical expert. I just hope MCS has no wicked idea of bringing the guy and then have the pleasure of firing him publicly – just for his ego to be massaged.

  25. Mushota… Anyone who know Prof, Chirwa will notice that this is a demotion, but he has accepted the position for the sake of serving the nation. Now, if Mushota thinks Prof. Clive does not derseve the position, then I strongly question her thinking… leave much to be desired honestly.

  26. Applied Physics….Theoies of Special relativitivity. Newtonian Mechanic versus Einstenian special Relativity theories. Gusu Train….!!

  27. Mushota, grade 12 with 22 points when others talk of 9 points. Grade 7 certificate (what for?), you can not even spell Professor, CIMA, a lot of grammer errors. Whats wrong with you? Where is BOOM to put you where you belong?

Prof. Chirwa, pse perform and then shame critics. I hope the president has something bigger for you. Is it a step to groom you as the successor?

  28. To all of you wasting time responding to this Mushota, You are actually more dull than she is!!! She is a joker who does not deserve an iota of attention.

To me, she is an imbodiment of idiocy at its best!

    • but technically by reacting u are responding to her and giving her the attention she doesnt deserve :d ..please dont call us dull..personally my ego can’t take it and my academic and professional credentials beg to differ…
so relax mune’ we are all Zambians wasting time instead of being productive-no need for name calling :)>-

  29. I think Professor should have been appointed to a more higher position that not only overseers the Zambia Railways but the entire communications systems in Zambia – I think we would then benefit more from his wide experience now just have him to man the Zambia Railways. Notwithstanding the above it is good appointment – because the railway system if revolutionized and managed well will definitely not only boost our economy but we will also be saving greatly on the amounts that are presently spent on repair roads majorly because of the great loads carried over our roads designed for lesser loads.

  30. But CNP, you have just said who you are… I have just comment about the rat Mushota…So youre the modt dullest person- You and rat Mushota.. Get a life and live well before you die trying

  31. PRESIDENT SATA IS A GREAT LEADER, HE HAS STARTED RESPONDING TO US FROM UPND, IN KAZUNGULA ‘KATOMBORA” BY TOMORROW YOU WILL HEAR MORE DEFFECTIONS TO PF.

  32. I really thought Clive did not need such a job, his so called CV looks to rich to be CEO of Zam Rail, guys in the diaspora lets be real, anyways congratulations prof.

  33. # 52…IS BAD CITIZEN IN THIS POOR NATION,,SATA IS A FAILURER MBWANA…HE HAS NO LOVE FOR THE POOR BABAAA,,HE HAS NOT GIVEN ANYTHING ANYONE POOR

  34. he will be fired before the end of mcs’ first term based on the errenous belief that for rail ststems to be managed well they need a very good man. actually like many institutions its the rules of who its run that need to be changed. frankly its at tax payers’ peril that government runs this company. government should be busy regulating not running business

  35. I am sorry 22 Points in my first 5 subjects ie English, Mathematics, Physics Chemistry and Biology and 27 points in 6 subjects should not be dismissed by people who are unlikely to have done as well as me
That is an average of 3 each subject ie around 65% each subjects, what is wrong with that?
That made me start ACCA finished that a few CIMA exemption finished that.

In Zambia certainly when I was 18 almost 10 years now when you got 8 points which is the most I have seen someone the chances are they cheated and they had leakage
    Stop the hate thank you

    Thanks

    • That’s too much for a person who has been “sounding” intelligent like yourself. Why didn’t you pick on distinctions?

    • shup up dude, i got seven points in best five the same courses you have mentioned and 9 ponts in six, i still dont feel as high as you do coz i have friends who did better than me. dont be too full of yourself.

    • Lol!!yaba ba mushota u have jokes for days..please stop ati 27 points in 6 aweh thats too funny ..imwe even back in my day (13 yrs ago to be precise) that was embarrassing!!well atleast im entertained ..ur a funny chic

    • My nephew had 9 points in 9 subjects; English, AddMa, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing, Accounts and Woodwork. Even by our standards in the 70’s and early 80’s, 22 points was considered a division one failure. If you have ever heard of schools like Mpelembe, Fatima, St Jones, David Kaunda, Hilcrest etc, your results are pathetic.

  36. Once it was written that Prof. was begging for a job and some people could not see in between the line and opted to insult.

  37. CONGRATULATIONS PROF. THIS IS A BRILLIANT APPOINTMENT. WELL DONE MR PRESIDENT, SIR. THINGS ARE MOVING AND WE ARE HEADED FOR INDUSTRIALIZATION.

  38. PROF CHIRWA, CONGRATULATIONS. I am ashamed of the Zambian spactator: First you are being said to be the best choice St Michael has ever made then in the same breath every body wonders whether you can score or you are just a bookworm. Some of us say to you Go For It. There was no professor when the railway crossed the Zambezi nor was there a professor when it reached Broken Hill. You can only go wrong if you do not delegate.

  39. Is Clive Efford Chirwa a Zambian or British Citizen? Or even Malawian? For your info, his previous MD jobs ended in disaster, TRIBOTECHNIX Limited was dissolved, now he is MD of an obscure company called CLAVEL INCORPORATED LIMITED, hope it will not be dissolved too! Is he clever enough to re invent the wheel?

  40. One more thing, at Bolton University Clive Efford Chirwa was clever at stealing ideas from his PhD students and presenting them as his own, rather undignified for a supposed clever academic. Hope he had nicked a few ideas form Virgin Rail to implement at Zambia Railways.

    • Typical Zambian mentality; so you do not know that all professors rely on foot soldiers for research? PHD syndrome!!

  41. This is good, someone educated has taken up a high position. I have a question though…..what the hell is Masumba going to do as an FIU board member?

  42. What a brilliant idea Mr President!! The rail system had fallen to its dogs.Am sure Chirwa will do his best to revamp the system.

  43. The professor was talking about big ambitious projects for the railways last time he was in Zambia that should be used to create employment….is this reason he was appointed?
At least I know where he stands on the mine owners, windfall tax and on dual citizenship as I have read his articles here on LT; then again Bob Schinga wrote a lot of articles on the pros of Windfall tax but look at him now in mute on the subject.
    .[Cont’d]

  44. Running ZRL will not be an easy task, I hope the professor seeks written approval from State House that funding will be available as ZRL needs more money than meets the eye and if this is unavailable; this appointment will just dent his reputation and he will be back in Bolton in 12 months time. If I was the professor I would sack all the dead wood directors there and surround myself with the smartest business brains in the country as he is from an engineering and research background.

  45. Congrats for what you *****s? The man is expensive to maintain for a CEO in zambia. do we have the money to pay him? how many billions will go to his account? this man does not live a cheap life. He is still an adviser to these many countries mind you! how many days will he be spending in kabwe if at all he will ever step a foot there. you are brainwashed fools who always think what CNP does is perfect. there are better educated people not him. He should have engaged him as a consultant not CEO.

  46. Prof Clive. When were bridges flaw tested? what gauge will you choose for now and the future? The railway line looks like an anaconda and wont allow speeds higher than 35 mph. Why derailments? Please don’t listen to detractors GO FOR IT. I wouldnt have voted for you as President but I endorse you as CEO for the railways. Better railways will be good for stock movements and copper movements. You will need new thinking in Engineering, Maintenance, Human Resource, Security, Finance management and IT. God bless you.

  47. Without major investment in the rail line, ZR is not going anywhere. You need at least $1 billion to relay the track that was built more than a century ago. Clive will look Stu.pid when this thing fails to take off. Professor indeed but not very wise!

  48. Sata is not strategically or emotionally well placed to do all this appointments. He is too emotional to make level headed decisions on important appointments which is why its so vital that we have a select committee doing public vetting. Many heads often decide better than a lone ranger.

  49. first foremost the rail way line need to be redone, the goods train is slow and so is the train no one want to use a train that takes 12 hrs from lusaka to livingstone when you can use a bus under 5hrs. So the rumour is true that, clive will take over PF after sata hence the reason to accept this offer my worry is clive holds a british citizenship too, so are they going to arrest him like that woman. no wonder DUAL CITIZENSHIP must be adopted to attract educated zambians to come back

  50. @Mushota#28
Come on take it easy, just loosen up a little bit and that will be just fine. Stop complaining my dear or else you will end up having a cardiovascular attack. I have told you to come down here to Cape Town and I am pretty sure a person such as yourself can easily be absorbed into our corporate sector here.
Notice that it is not against the law to marry someone provided you are sincere about the marriage itself. I want to marry you my love and money is not an issue. I do not want to waste time by prolonging the story. The simple story is I want you that is it.

  51. Prof Chirwa should not accept this job. K640billion is just a drop in the ocean and will not be enough to resurrect the dead Zambia Railways and that is if indeed that money will be made available. Everyone knows where the problem is; the railway network is just too damn old; the tracks, the trains, the buildings, everything! However, if that money is indeed given, then we will see how the professor will use it to make ZR viable and stand on its own feet. If he manages in the next 5 years then he is ready to vie for the presidency.

  52. Good luck Professor. It won’t be easy but with your track record and credentials, I think it’s wise to assume that you may make a good attempt to revamp ZR. On the other hand, if I were you, I’d be a skeptical of this 5 year contract. It’s 5 years divided by 2 minus 1.5 years. So, don’t get too comfortable just, focus and do the best you can putting all politics aside.
The majority of us are behind you…so, strap your boots sir and get to running!

  53. Professor Chirwa, immedietely request GRZ negotiate with the Chinese to repair the rail line, otherwise you are going nowhere. You can hire for USD 30,000.00 per month. I am an accomplished civil and railway Engineer (several years of experience at ZRL and abroad) and post graduate in finance.

  54. Protofessor Chirwa, immedietely request GRZ to negotiate with the chinese to repair the rail line, otherwise you are going nowhere. You can hire me for USD30,000.00 per month. I am an accomplished civil and railway engineer (several years of experience at ZRL and abroad) and I am a post graduate in finance. (Sorry for the previous script. I am using a Swedish key board).

  55. Iwe Mushota, You have been rumbled. You went to secondary in southern province. Your father is PS. You are married to a chocho chocho. You live in London and not Scotland. Stupid fool!

  56. Professor Clive Chirwa! Very good appointment ba Sata. But don’t just use him to revamp ZRL let after proving himself that he is a performer, let him rise to Permsec in Communication or road transport. Attach him to the Link Project to supervise ba Nsanda. Let us use all the best brains God has blessed our country with. Our greatest problem in Zambia is that the critical mass is disaggregated . Professionals are not well aligned but strewn about everywhere. Otherwise, Zambians can work if they mean to.
Clive remember , first things first! After the presidential brief. Look for the latest audit report on ZRL. Assemble a good team. Evaluate the issues and Zero in. Consider discussions with the chinese Govt for the upgrade in railway infrastructure. Good luck and all the best!

  57. In my opinion, and from reading Prof’s profile. The man does not suit to manage Zambia Railways, but rather, he would fit well in Academics like Vice chancellor or Deputy at a University. There is a big difference between managing a company and knowing a profession well through good academic credentials. It does not mean that if you an excellent engineer then u can make an engineering related company very well.

  58. Has Clive Chirwa ever run a company before? Has he got experience in turning around companies? Knowledge and performance are two different things. There ia a huge gap between knowledge and performance. Looking at Clive Chirwa`s resume—-there is no mention of any industry experience. In management grad school you are always reminded that you learn business in business and not in school!

  59. PFgovt under Mr Sata has other professors already in his government. One is minister of chiefs Mr Sata is under utilising. Prof. Chirwa will be labeled failure by Mr Sata as is on record that learned Zambians are not effective in Zambia. We await conditions under which Prof. Chirwa will set out to work as CEO of Zambia railways. Chirwa does not dance to political or public posturing displayed by politians. He is a man of his own principles that are respected world wide. A test of humble pies to Mr Sata and his PFgovt.

  60. Smart people run there own companies. At his age and the type of qualifications he has, the guy should be running his own business. The question is why is he unable to?

  61. Prof chirwa will be under utilized, he needed to be in infrastructure and over see serious development at cabinet level using his international exposure and intellect, especially ministry of works n supply .   ……KK AIRPORT NEEDS SERIOUS STATE OF THE ART OVERHAUL  AS REGIONAL AIRPORT ,ZAMBIA AS AN INTERCONNECTOR HUB….

  62. This will no doubt end in disaster as excellency in academics is not equivalent to success in running a company of the size ZRL is. To my best of knowledge the Professor is an accomplished academician and consultant coupled with some inventions for which he has been recognised by international bodies for. However, I don’t believe he has managed a company with a thousand people, though he may have managed projects with bigger budgets than ZRL, the staffing side of things may prove difficult. The writing is on the wall as the outgoing CEO, Mr Knox Karima, has been disappointed hardly 2 months in the job. Mr. Karima has a track record of running companies but has not been given the chance to prove himself – no doubt he retires a very happy man as billions to be paid for his contract term

  63. True, this is a business and not an infrastructure design project. Chirwa has no track record of running a business and he’ll end up leaving faster than he has been appointed

  64. Extremely sceptical about this appointment. Has Prof. Chirwa reviewed his membership with UPND, especially taken into account the prevailing political climate in Zambia. Prof Chirwa’s professional image was systematically self-built up through a series of articles in The Post. Has this so-called Professor of Automotive & Aerospace Structures cast aside his intellectual mindset so as to sink so low even to the level of being bullied by an illiterate? It proves that Prof Chirwa has failed to read Sata’s political style of diluting the professional standing of the indigenous Zambian Professionals. Prof Chirwa is wellcome to Sata’s game of APPOINTMENTS & FIRING depending on the prevailing weather.

  65. I would like to believe that the aim of appointing Mr.Chirwa is not necessarily management but rather the improving of the infrastructure to make ZR become a modern day Railway system with the latest trains and equipment’s.There will be other people to help him with the running of the company. This must have already been discussed between himself and the President/government.

  66. Good move to appoint a zambian. However, does he have the experience and local knowledge to turn round such an ailing institution???? I mean railway practical experience not university theory!!

  67. Lets see a competent board whose composition will compliment this appointment and reflect the spirit in which it is made. If we should go the RDA way, then we are doomed before we even start!

  68. Congrats. Prof Chirwa, put the house together quickly so that our roads will be relieved of the heavy loads that damage the roads.

  69. Wel deserved appointment prof, its my hubble appeal that you would first sitpulate a plan to decongest the traffic we are currently expressing by introducing passenger rail transport to operate within the main cities though the period is short

  70. Hope Prof. Clive won’t be given incomptent individuals on the board because then this appointment wont make sense so pliz Presidento do like wise.

I start by proposing Mushota our educatated lady with a “white” partner as the 1st member of the board hehehe.

  71. I pity Clive Chirwa because he does not seem to understand the level of expectation that has been heaped on him. He is in for a rude shock. With the current dynamics in the transport sector in Zambia and given the Zambia Railway`s business model, it is very difficult —–almost impossible to revitalize the Zambia Railways to a sensible organization condition.

I doubt if Clive Chirwa who has no experience of running a company understands

  72. I’m very proud to be Zambian, only Zambians will build Zambia, where are those chaps with the muzungu anikonde inferior mindsets who were busy supporting those vile RSZ consortium chaps. Sata has grand plans for mother Zambia; the boat will not wait for any feeble headed chaps.

  73. Ba Mama Nakwi tekanya Ng’anga ikusange. FDD, and particualrly its President Nawakwi, who is ululating at Prof. Chirwa’s appointment, is an epiphytic accessory to the PF’s scheme of disturbilising opposition parties. We know that Prof. Chirwa was picked because the PF regime linked him to UPND. In dark corners the PF are celebrating their cherished impact on the opposition. But Sata is sharpening his axe ready to chop off and fire Prof Chirwa at a well-progammed time and tie him to a floating tiny straw.

Nawakwi is on the count-down awaiting for her ascent to replace Guy Scott. Nawakwi’s Press Release dated 16th November 2016 speaks volumes of swift waters running under the bridge. Some academics, like Prof Chirwa, have not grasped well the political history of Sata.

  74. Number 8! Akkkk mno, I totally agree with you, prof. Chirwa should have been utilised in building a knowledge based economy in Zambia. Hope govt takes advantage of his presence in the country and  gets the best out of him. This man is very resourceful. congrats, prof. Chirwa.

  75. Job seeker finally gets appointed after barking so long to be recognised! This twat has Political ambitions than running a Railway Network. He should have emulated Mr Virgin and use his own millions (Claims of being loaded) to improve ZR.

    Ntau iy zacamba Bwana

  76. he was not working ,in uk no one could employ him he was doing night school the wife looked after him.he was dwarfed by sata when in london during a meeting. he is not even a ceo or presidential material in the class of  mwendabai, mwanashiku or mazoka. shame iknow him as a failure and noise maker. wait see 2 months
