The Zambia Direct Democracy Movement this afternoon presented a petition to President Michael Sata at State House urging the Head of State to convene an urgent inter-party dialogue meeting.

ZDDM National Coordinator Edwin Sakala accompanied by his Vice President Charles Kafumbo handed over the petition to State House staff calling on President Sata to urgently meet key opposition leaders for dialogue.

Mr. Sakala told Journalists that the rising political tension in Zambia could only be diffused if politicians started talking to each other.

“We are concerned as ZDDM because tension on the political field is rising fast and we want the President to step in and help harmonise the situation,” Mr. Sakala said.

He explained that politicians should promote dialogue and realize that Zambia is greater than any one of them hence the need to promote national interest.

“The impasse between the PF and the opposition is a source of great concern for us. The issues of the PF poaching opposition MP’s, the President appointing people to ministerial positions that are facing criminal charges in court, these are some of the issues that are brewing tension,” he added.

“The PF should realize that they cannot effectively govern without the opposition as the Bembas say, Umunwe umo tausala inda (one finger cannot pick lice), they should respect the role of the opposition,” he said.

Meanwhile, State House Press Aide George Chellah later told Journalists that the petition will be availed to President Sata because it was presented in a non-confrontational manner.
“We are happy that the opposition is slowly beginning to realize that President Sata was given a mandate to rule this country by the Zambian people and that antagonism will not take them anywhere,” Mr. Chellah said.

“This petition will be responded to, there are no confrontational issues here, we will be responding to the petitioners,” he said.

  1. I think this is makin sense and I hope the thugs ll humble themselves wen the his excellency ll b shouting at them.

  2. Now they want dialogue. Invite them to State House they refuse. Engage them in parliament, they walk out. Stupid and pathetic.

  3. ofuna nkaka ku plot one oa amambala. kuliye chiyakine chakufuna. lomba weo george, tiyitanile tyala bala ali naulemu, ndiyenso na nzelu ziweme, osati nevers namuyeke under 5. infact they are very silly

  4. A Chap like HH and his gang will come out that unless upND Chairs the meeting, they will boycott.
They are always agrieved, bitter, hungry for word, and confrontational!
    Can you blame Sata?
Never Presido is always full of hot blood. He once said ” its gonna be Punch for Punch with Sata”
why should PF go into dialogue with such leaders?
The level headed leaders like Chipimo (steel metal framed) Nawakwi, etc have alread HAD dialogue and will continue doing so.

  5. Do we live in the same Zambia as these people. I do not see any political tension. These organization formed because ya nsala should not be allowed. An individual has a right to chose who to work with. The problem with HH and Nervous think they own their MPs. Keep in mind that these MPs have won elections before and they can do it again as opposed to HH & Nervous who have never won an election. Sata will have it clean in 2016 if these kids continue behaving the way they are doing.

    • Seriously I don’t see any tension on the political arena….so much as even to talk about….there used to be tension in the Mwanawasa vs Sata days and because these two were civilised in their politics they decided to dialogue out of there own free will when they felt it was too much and thanx Mwanawasa died after making peace with Sata…..so I don’t understand the tension these quacks are talking about….it could just be some gimmick behind the whole thing

    • spot on guys , there’s no political tension in the country. these guys have run out of what to criticize . so they want to show as if they are working. boo. let the president work. he doesn’t need to be disturbed.

  6. With this new vocabulary by PF SELENI TUBOMBEKO, how can there be dialogue ?? Unless PF crowns change there mentality

  7. This Meeting Long Overdue, same with a Press Conference. In Zambia, we are ON Outo Pilot.Fertile ground for crash landing.

  8. Just look at the useless arrongant blogs that u blind followers are making and the arrongant mouthpiece chellah makes, only a fool can listen to u

  9. UPND & MMD you just accepted defeat in Mufumbwe and congratulated the PF,  – On its own Western Province is beginning to align itself to PF for development, MMD members on their own accord are resigning to join PF, so where is the political tension being talked about coming from? Grow up!

IT IS CLEAR – UPND & MMD POLITICAL FORTUNES ARE DECLINING.

  10. SURELY WHEERE IS THE TENSION MR. SAKALA IS TALKING ABOUT? THEY HAVE RUN OUT OF WHAT TO CRITICIZE NOW THEY WANT THE PRESIDENT TO WASTE TIME WITH MEETINGS. SOLLY BA OPPOSITION

  11. To start with, this so called political tension is unreal! If the opposition want dialogue let them just call for that without telling lies about some tension!! I think they are finally realising their folly of continuously sitting ‘outside’ while everything is happening ‘inside’ and now they are ashamed of coming out in the open and asking to maturely engage the govt, they want to hide behind a silly facade of political tension.

  12. True, I cant see any political tension. The opposition have now realized that they have lost ground and are sinking so fast. We told HH and Mumba to behave but as usual they kept embracing folly. Now they are in trouble. Imagine UPND and HH losing all the 14 ward bye elections. Uluse ine bane.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  13. THE TENSION IS IN HIS BLOODY BIG HEAD THIS MAN.WHAT DIALOGUE WHEN THESE CHAPS CANNOT EVEN RESPOND TO INNOCENT NATIONAL EVENTS INVITATIONS AT STATE HOUSE.THIS IS TIME TO WORK NOT HAVING UNPRODUCTIVE INTERPARTY  FREE MEALS PRETENDING TO LOOK IMPORTANT.

LET THESE PATIES FIRST HAVE THEIR OWN INTRA-PARTY DIALOGUES AND SORT OUT THEIR INTERNAL TENSIONS THEN THEY CAN CALL UPON THE RULING PARTY FOR A NATIONAL INDABA.

ANYWAY,THIS MAN SAKALA HAS NO AGENDA EVEN FOR HIMSELF,THE CHAP CANNOT EVEN ORGANISE HIS OWN BIRTHDAY PARTY AND HE THINKS HE CAN ORGANISE ZAMBIANS,MORON.

  14. and who says there is tension in Zambia? Just a few disgruntled individuals here and there. Mr President just concentrate on delivering and working.

    SELENI TUBOMBEKO!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. this is total madness when tension is fueled by the same opposition political parties.Advice # 1,stop provoking the ruling party and dialogue developmental issues than disturbing
.Advice # 2,if you want the ruling to press chicken and chips in your stomachs forget it.Advice #3,if you can’t defeat them join them and for sure you are by far.

  16. Current regime is confrontantional. Their agenda is to destroy Mmd and it is being assisted by unprincipled Mps whose sole aim is to satisfy their stomachs. Shame on them.

  17. How can you reason with a Grade 7 as president. Sata is a perfect case study for mutiple personalities, what his against today he will support the other day. Sata is Mr U TURN on every thing i say, nothing out of his mouth is guaranteed. Am sure these U TURNS contributed to him not been able to finish school, and making him believe he had a DEGREE when he had barely enrolled. one day he will forget to dress.

  18. Number 14 and 18 be serious sometimes at least pretend to be thinking. which party has BIGGER TENSIONS going on than the PF i.e GBM and KABIMBA or do you boys both suffer from the common disease in PF Amnesia. Since day one Sata is clueless and confused on how to lead the country. PF are busy making noise in the media instead of working sometimes i wonder if they are not confused into thinking there still in opposition, at least there they were useful noise makers.

  19. number 19 i think yo reasoning should be strongly questioned, what you should know is that to have wisdom and to be educated are different things.Even great leaders like Jesus didn’t go to school to influence people up to date. Not to go such far,Mandela doesn’t have degrees but the world praise his leadership. You RB who claimed to have degrees totally failed.Yo analysis shows which region of Zambia u belong to definitely southern province.

  20. # 22, don’t bring tribalism to this discussion, where i come from doesn’t even come to play. to answer you if RB was such a failure how come his the one who started such projects as the Euro Bond, building schools around Zambia and the Roads project which your Sata inherited and tried to fool people into thinking he was the mastermind. Sata is not in Mandela’s class, while Mandela was fighting for independence Sata was a Colonial Constable betraying his fellow Zambians so don’t even start or think of comparing Sata to Mandela its an insult.

    • #25,if you are saying RB worked where is the gold?when it comes to projects bro u need to know the difference between initiation and implementation.you can have theories on paper but the most important thing is to satisfy the end user.Sata is the man of action,he believes not only in initiating but implementing which is good 4 all of us.Your RB failed to implement good projects Mwanawasa left and you experienced how the economy suffered, which was bad 4 you and I.Hey 2 remind you, Sata is not mine but ours, you like it or not he is the current president of Zambia.Seleni tubombeko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. Come on spare me from that Grade 7 slogan of tubombeko. what have you been doing a year on oh i forgot firing, hiring, bribing, enticing chiefs for support after creating unnecessary by elections caused by poaching MP’s. Sata’s tenure will finish the way it started NO DIRECTION. can you implement something that isn’t initiated in the first place, as usual you are actually contradicting your self PF CADRE STYLE, Sata hasn’t initiated anything apart from BY ELECTIONS. looking at the exchange rate of the dollar we haven’t made any progress INFACT household commodities have gone up thanks to your Micheal’s G 7 economics.

  22. #26 the bible says thou shall not judge others,to me you sound to be a big problem even where you live. You saw maize 2day and harvest 2moro.PF is still working on policies, its when you will see fruits.Selauko tubombeko!!!!!!

  23. #26 the bible says thou shall not judge others,to me you sound to be a big problem even where you live. You can’t saw maize 2day and harvest 2moro.PF is still working on police issues b4 you could see fruits.Selauko tubombeko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • SHiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit man did you even read the article?? its in the first sentence Zambia Direct Democracy Movement ZDDM

  24. Where is Mumbi now? Has he formed a political party or is working in the background of one of the already established political parties?
