Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) says failure by President Michael Sata to reprimand Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba for his conduct when he went to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sends a wrong signal about the PF government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.

ZED leader Fredrick Mutesa has told QFM News that President Sata’s decision not to take disciplinary action against Mr Kabimba after he refused to be questioned by the ACC gives an impression that there are sacred cows in the corruption fight that the PF is championing.

Dr. Mutesa says what needs to be understood is that the people of Zambia are not demanding for the suspension of Mr. Kabimba because of the allegations leveled against him, but are not happy with his conduct at the ACC.

He has noted that the conduct exhibited by Mr. Kabimba amounts to interfering with the operations of the ACC.

Dr. Mutesa adds that leaders in the country should lead by example by ensuring that they uphold the rule of law.

President Sata has stated that he will not suspend any of his ministers being probed by the ACC in the absence of proof of the allegations they are facing.

  1. we were told there will be no “sacred cows” in the fight against corruption but now we are seeing a different picture emerge. “If the minister is corrupt, don’t investigate without telling the President. If the president is corrupt ……..”

  2. Suspend him for what? Who has made presentations to the president? Even Obama could not suspend UN US Ambassador Rice based on mere opposition or newspaper allegations!

    • Your comparisons are way off. Was Susan Rice accussed of corruption? In the US Kabimba and GBM would have resigned by now. Let us just admit that our standards are cra.p and have gone so low – instead of defending something that is not indefensible. There is no way you can defend Sata on this one. He is wrong.

    • You are just dull. Why was Dora Siliya forced to step down when it was just newspapers-The Post that was reporting her corruption?

  3. Selective “justice” depending on which side of the political aisle you fall on.At this rate you’ll soon have the ICC solving a fullblown zambian crisis ala Sudan,Rwanda or Kenya.Never joke with people who can’t find justice peacefully for they’ll seek it violently

  4. how can corrupt person reprimand a fellow corrupt? its impossible. let us just brace our selves for hard times ahead. this government is up to no good. today you claim to to be allergic to corruption tomorrow you support it. it leaves one to wonder to what extent is sata allergic to this vise. he is also corrupt by protecting corrupt people. let us shoulder the blame for voting these illiterates run the affairs of our great nation.a grade 7 as a president? i wonder how i was convinced to vote for this guy with all degrees. shame on me.

  5. from the way i know the president he is just like levy patric mwanawasa may his soul rest in peace, he is just waiting for law agents to play their role i know its just a matter of time he will make a right move . for sure he is allergic to corruption.Give him time.

    • Levy never waited like that. He definitely would have relieved Winter & Geoffrey of their duties to pave way for investigations. Remember the case of Mulyata when he was SP Minister?…..

  6. A self-inflicted assault on the president’s own integrity as campaigner against corruption everywhere, and, a clarion call to all Zambians to fold their shirts for a very long shift in the struggle to rid the country off falsehood in all its manifestations.

  7. #5 I totally agree….its amazing how people in power are short sighted and intellectuals are so blind by hiding behind state power and the law respectively while justice is only enjoyed by them yet majority poor people suffer…if its violence to be used to be heard which seems to be prominent in Africa to reach stubborn politicians then so be it and no politician should even say violence is no solution…..we the poor are tired we will not listen

  8. President Michael Sata with Agriculture and Livestock Minister Emmanuel Chenda, Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba, Defense Minister Geoffrey Mwamba and Home Affairs Minister Edgar
Lungu after meeting with traditional leaders at State House

Who’s who’s in your caption? Left to right or right to left?

  9. Why castigate someone , who was the mouthpiece of your winning elections. MS is in a difficult situation, there are those people that any person doesn’t turn against. If my fiance Nick did the worse crime this world has ever seen,I would never turn against him, Would you people report your parents for  a came that would see them jailed or face a death penalty? Would you report your own child if they committed a crime, that otherwise you are the-only person that would-otherwise have protected them. If you are the last person in defense in your family surely you would go down fighting?

Point is , its insanity, trivial impossible for the president to turn against WK because they have come so far together
People why don’t you see what I see?

    Thanks

  10. Lets brace ourselves for one of the worst political seasons in Zambia’s history under PF but don’t lose hope soon these guys will come begging at our doorsteps and we will remind them who the employer is. I urge the opposition to campaign in rural areas as the towns they are wise enough to judge or themselves at least just duped this time by one snake in the grass.

  11. Late FTJ used the same language of giving proof for him to take action. facilitating the minister to be cleared of any allegations should be the concern, otherwise the public will continue to view them as true. Late LP Mwanawasa took action on mere allegations hence being viewed as a champion in the corrupton fight.

  12. Simple maths just vote them out 2016 give other who can listen to pipo how does the president say get a request from me to investigate shame on him thus old man grade 7

  13. WATCHDOG cant even publish my comments because they have started war certain tribes. @1 so you think there are no thieves among tongas and lozis except bembas. Well during judgement day of God, The lozis and tongas will accuse God of being a liar. Then God will ask them why. Then they will say, no one has ever stollen in our tribes. The n God will ask again’who stole K2 billion and hide at the farm? The the lozis and tongas will go numb. God bbbuttt. To lecture @1 there are many ways of stealing 1) other steal through white collar jobs like tongas and lozis 2)thru employing yo relatives leaving well qualified pipo to take up the jobs. 3) By givin themselves the so called ‘educated’ tribes hefty salaries. God will reveal a thousand ways pipo stole. Tongas/lozi will have a rude shock.

    • The fact that you are targeting Tongas and Lozi’s means that for the 2 tribes, theft is not a norm for them. I have lived with Bembas on the CB for a while working in the mines, and to say that it is second nature for crookedness in most of them is an understatement. Even very educated friends of mine that I could not in the least expect to steal, actually stole and to this day it really boggles my mind. Make no mistake, I have also met very honest Bembas, but these one counts on one’s fingers.

    • Iam not trying to justify anything first of such apes like you is what has made Zambia not to progress I.dioti , now let me tell u some, us bembas by nature we are thieves, my girl friend once told me I don’t trust yo bembas you can steal anything even my ka beans or breasts kuti kavana

  14. Mr president the acc wont work properly on kabimbas issue if he continues to hold office send him on leave, hes become a liability on your name, advisers where are you?

  15. The president should see this clip. Winter is behaving as if he is not educated. The chap is the minister of Justice

  16. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE. KABIMBA IS DEFINITELY NOT FIT TO BE MINISTER OF JUSTICE. MOREOVER, WHILE HE’S INVESTIGATED HE’S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE OCCUPYING HIS OFFICE- HE SHOULD HAVE STEPPED DOWN TO LEAVE FOR SMOOTH AND UN BIASED INVESTIGATION. EVEN A VILLAGE BUMPKIN WOULD BEHAVE BETTER. TO SAY THE LEAST HE MUST BE SUCKED.

  17. out of topic tired of Kabimba, please my dear brothers and sisters i need your help.answer should be emailed to [email protected]
analyse the educational developments that took place between 1964 and 2012. in your view would u say were the milestones of Zambia’s educational development during this period.

  18. An objective poll (not the discredited recipe by Simuntanyi), if conducted today, would quite emphatically show a very big dip in the popularity of PF, following the Kabimba boob. Times, they are a-changing!

  19. Mushota #17 is in Europe with Kabimba’s mentality; I hope she will not be thrown in jail together with Nick when she tries to “protect” him – KABIMBA IS DISGUSTING. Enough said.

  20. @Tell It Like It Is. I have mingled with a lot of Lozis and Tongas. One Tonga girl swindled me out of millions of kwachas by pretending to love me while in actual fact she didn’t. I lent out K2 million to a lozi friend. Upto this time i have never recieved that money. There are so many ways pipo steal: through giving themselves hefty salaries while their employees get peanuts. Others is through employing relatives denying the well deserved citizens to take up the job. The one who has been denied a job has been stollen of what he/she should have belonged to them. The problem is pipo like to sound the trumpet once it is a bemba while there is a lot of stealing/croockdness going on in compunds perpetrated by T/Lozis which goes unpublished. Eg WATCHDOG sounds the trumpet once it is a bemba

  21. @ number 21
Iam not trying to justify anything first of such apes like you is what has made Zambia not to progress I.dioti , now let me tell u some, us bembas by nature we are thieves, my girl friend once told me I don’t trust yo bembas you can steal anything even my ka beans or breasts kuti kavana

  22. This is becoming an embarrassment for not only us Bemba’s but each and every Zambian to the outside world. When they land at Simon Kapwepwe airport they just confirm the calibre of each of us, ie. pathetic and mediocre.

  23. Mutesa do you want our president to be doing what you want? why should he fire Wynter what has he done? Have you proved him guilt. Mutesa Where  were you when Banda was busy Plundering our countries meagre Resources.Think before you talk.

  24. @Mushota- this is the worst analysis ever. You mean to say if your Nick raped or killed your mother or sister or daughter you would not take any action? you are more sick than I thought. I wonder what analysis you are doing in your PhD if at all you are doing one for sure

  25. @31, do your reseach before you comment. Your IQ is very low. Why? Because you didn’t expect an ape to respond because by nature an ape lives in the bush where there is no internet. Besides, if you responded to an ape, then you are an ape as well. Simple logic. Now listen, in all tribes there are honest and dishonest pipo. It is not only the bembas wh are thieves. In all tribes there are thieves and that is why they have a name for a thief in their local language. I dated a Tonga girl and she swindled me out of millions of kwachas by pretending to love me. Was a Tonga girl a bemba? Grow up. If you have tag for thief, don’t speak on behalf of others You are a thief alone as you. Awe Mwandini

  26. 35# Zambian to the Core
If your father stole £50 from, from the bank (lets be honest you being Zambian, this is not unlikley) ) would you report him, if he is the person that looks after you, sponsors you and pays for the clothes that covers your manhood?
Would you report your own mother (again something more than likely) for not reporting excess change after she has been buying ‘ifishimu’ to feed your family at Lunch?
Why haven’t you turned yourself in, to the Interpol for visiting those filthy website when you are all alone in your room with that windows 95 computer.
    Pls how about some answers?
Stop arguing with a PhD student

    Thanks

  27. @31 read newspapers and tell the statistics of the frauders, thieves they advitise in newspaper since 2009. I have a list of bout 300 pictures and stories of the thieves and fraudsters they advitise in the newspapers. I can tell you that only abou 43 were bembas. The rest 257 are from other tribes. So you mean to tell me that only bembas are thieves. Do research and don’t just open your mouths anyhow.

    • Meaning, the other 72 tribes share the 257? Meaning the 3.6 per tribe. Any way. If there is a thing i hate most is to discuss tribes. We are all one. After all we intermarry. So if a Bemba is a thief so is a Tonga, Lunda, Chewa, Lozi and so on. We are one people. Let us not differ on tribes for non of us chose to be that tribe.

      Thank you.

    • Nzelu mind you, 43 is for all Luapula and Northern and partly central provinces. Bemba is spoken in these provinces Mr Nzelu. How many dialects are spoken in these provinces? You do the math. My point was no about the numbers, my point was to show that in all tribes there are thieves. Period

  28. This piece if s**t Wynter Kabimba is a disgrace to mankind. He is the reason why intelligent people shun politics. Just what is wrong with people whose background is working at Lusaka Civic Centre- Michael Sata, Wynter Kabimba, William Banda, and now a Councilor Chikutalo Nkhoma is in the headlines for running a bar bill in Addis Ababa. Awe shuwa.

  29. From my reading of the ACC Act of 2012, the ACC does not require any permission from the the president unless there is a clear provision in the constitution which overrules the provisions of the Act. Section 5 of the Act provides & I quote “Subject to the Constitution, the Commission shall not, in the performance of its functions, be subject to the direction or control of any person or authority”. I believe this includes the president. If any one has information contrary to this provision, particularly the article of the constitution that provides otherwise, please share that information so that we can debate this issue intelligently

  30. How can Sata suspend Kabimba when Kabimba is just a front collecting kick backs on behalf of Sata. You think it was a coincidence that Wynter Kabimba was on the commission of inquiry looking into the supply of fuel, You think it is another coincidence that Kabimba created an oil firm called Midland Energy Zambia. Kabimba’s Midland Company is fake, where was it a year ago?Why do you think Kabimba went to Lebanon? its to collect the kick backs, trafigura has an offices in Iraq which is a Neighbor to lebanon. open your eyes Zambians.

  31. @40.1 Mr President wise words. True, tribal remarks are retrogressive. However pipo should stop tagging one tribe as thieves. Thats why i came up those statistics. Mind you what I meant is that luapula and Northern share that 43 because they almost one and the same people. Anyway your ideas are excellent. Thumbs up and God bless

  32. A majority of Zambians clearly see the wrong in Kabimba’s twisting of issues at the ACC when in fact it is him who threatened for speedy justice to be accorded in the handling of allegations against him. Too bad for the zambian Justice system.

  33. Furthermore, it is disrespectful and insulting to the Zambian citizens for Kabimba and his entourage to call the man acting on behalf of the citizenry “iwe”.

In Zambia, the official business language is English. Kabimba and co. should have addressed the officer with a diplomatic “sir”. He should not intimidate officers just because he is a minister in government.

  34. Is Kabimba Bemba? These chitemene deforestation causing people have gone too far. Is there any logical Bemba I ask? Blatant disrespect of our law enforcement personel.

  35. Any moment now, ‘Blessings’ will come up with some ill thought out defense of Mr. Wynter’s raping of the very law he is supposed to protect. As pointed out several times by many here, Kabimba’s conduct should be exemplarily instead he displays arrogance, lack of respect for officials from ACC as they try to conduct the legal directive that was given to them through the very ACT that created them. We have  prezi that decidedly enables this misconduct by being what I can only describe as nonchalant about the legal process and a LAZ that isn’t showing enough tangible opposition to this disgraceful act.

  36. MWANAWASA the greatest president Zambia has to date. Let’s pray our LORD God provides us with better leadership from now and beyond.

  37. @ 42.2 Mr Nzelu mind you, 43 is for all Luapula and Northern and partly central provinces. Bemba is spoken in all these provinces Mr Nzelu. How many dialects are spoken in these provinces? You do the math. My point was no about the numbers, my point was to show that in all tribes there are thieves. Period

  38. Nzelu mind you, 43 is for all Luapula and Northern and partly central provinces. Bemba is spoken in these provinces Mr Nzelu. How many dialects are spoken in these provinces? You do the math. My point was no about the numbers, my point was to show that in all tribes there are thieves. Period

  39. Ba NZELU @54 Mulekwata amano. Can you compare the intelligence of, eg, CHIPIMO to yourself? There are thousands of intelligent bembas i was with in class and people i know. You have no idea what goes on in this society of ours. Now listen: if you go at as a student, for instance, and you are bemba being taught by a lecture from a known tribalistic tribe, they will make life difficult for a bemba student. Most of the time they are failed. Even in certain jobs, you will find that if the manager is from a certain tribe, then a bemba won’t get that job. It is something we KNOW Mr Nzelu. So don’t just talk. Scholarships at most institution favour certain tribes. A bemba will always kiss dust. And perhaps thats why maybe God give bembas roles like President of a Nation to balance up things.

  40. MUSHOTA YOU SUCH AN IGNORANT RANTING MOUTH..PLEASE STAY OFF THESE BLOGS. I DON’T KNOW WHICH SCHOOL WOULD ACTUALLY ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BE EMBARRASSED BY AWARDING YOU A PHD FROM THEIR INSTITUTION..IT MUST BE OFFERING A THIRD CLASS EDUCATION BECAUSE YOU LUCK REASON…

  41. ZAMBIANS BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!!! THESE ACTIONS JUST SHOW US THAT POWER CHANGES PEOPLE..OUR INSTITUTIONS ARE SLOWING DYING. WE WERE SUCH A FORCE IN THE INTERNATIONAL ARENA , AN EXAMPLE OF HOPE FOR ALL AFRICAN COUNTRIES AFTER OUR SMOOTH TRANSITION TO MULTI-PARTY DEMOCRACY..CRY THE BELOVED COUNTRY..WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE..AND WHY DO WE JUST TALK AND NOT RIOT LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD WHEN SUCH THINGS ARE HAPPENING..

  42. Hon Winter Kabimba needs some prayers may be he is possed with demon of igniting divisions. It can not be his fault. He wants to speak the truth but almsot divisions and emberassments seem to come out .He is our future leader togather wioth given and others so th edevil may be having jelousy agaisnt their had earned positions.
Timing of these may be connected to powers of darkness so let us pray that God forgives us all.Somalian brother s also need prayers and protection because not all are guilty of murder

  43. Hey would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re using? I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a difficult time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S My apologies for being off-topic but I had to ask!
