  1. Sata just said, “Let there be a stadium and a university in western province” and already people are on the ground working and the minister is working to make sure that the King’s command is obeyed.

  2. A province with some trully awful schools and health centers needs prioritization on such facilities first before you think of staduims.I know Kambwili is sports minister but Sata’s govt here is just plain misguided.

  3. PF, is the stadium of the highest priority for that territory? Quest for power could really be blindfolding! Is PF dealing with children who cannot speak for themselves or adults who can speak and act on their own volition? PF really working hard make the Kingdom look like their chiefdoms, eh? If Barotseland were in Muchinga, even village headmen would be Chiefs – interesting. We would actually witness ‘frogs’ being natured to grow to the size of Barotse Blackbulls!

  4. Am sure there are enough medical and eucational facilities in Mongu for PF to opt for a stadium………..just thinking!!!!!!!!!

  5. Ba LT, ma spellings na grammar iliko bad!……..Provincial Minister Obvious Mwaliteta said the PF government has shown it commitment. ………. Mongu which is the heard quarters of Western province.. ……ZANIS sports reprts that the minister………….building an ultramodern stadium is a shortest possible time……… The Minister visited the site in a company of his deputy Minister Mubukwanu, etcetc.

  6. So it is no longer going to be in Kaoma? Linyungandambo is really doing a good job of scaring hell out of these PF kaponyas. Western Province is going to develop very fast thanks Linyungandambo. Looks like PF only understands militancy and “quiet” provinces should follow suit.

  7. Western province needs schools, roads and hospitals and not ultra modern stadiums!! In truth, i think this project will be drain on national coffers as i dont see any returns coming from this project. Put the stadium in Livingstone, after that build one in Chipata and then Kitwe.

    • You have a very big psycho-emotional illness. You should have it cured for you to proudly call yourself a Zambian who appreciates the entire breadth and width of Zambia!

  8. Am PF upto the neck but this is rubbish, whats the purpose of building a ultra modern stadium in Mongu when no one there plays football? It will just be an expensive white elephant whose loan unfortunately would still need to be repaid. Is the the chamba smoking Linyungandabo’s noise that loud that we should start wasting money senselessly? I don’t think so. Build them schools, clinics and roads not stadia – it not a priority pleeease.

  9. The building of the Stadium will creat a bit of Jobs for the locals. The mongu – Kalabo road is also under contrustraction. People taking about Schools and Hospitalsn in the area: there are enough of them its just the maintenance thats is required and supply of medication. But people here we are talking about Development, coming up with new infrustractures and adding value to these places.

    • That’s your best defense of this misappropriation of the limited funds the country has? How many people will it employ? The fact that the health facilities have chronic shortage of medical staff, equipment or much needed repair and eventual expansion should say a lot. There’s also the next to improve school structures, housing, access to clean water, reliable electricity. A stadium is secondary to the essentials. What’s the main industry of the province? You probably need a minute to think about that… [it’s fishing and mangos] what supporting industries can be funded to expand the financial benefits of such industry, thusly creating more jobs (call them agric jobs which we’ll need to feed the country and export). <—-Other businesses can arise from this.

  10. will the stadium be used for traditional ceremonies or what? i haven’t seen or heard of any skill from that part of the country

    • Kalonga. It’s because these poeple were left behind. Where ever there are poeple there is potential. The Lozis  need development like any other tribe in Zambia. We need to tap that potential in every Zambian for the country to move forward.

  11. #11 AND OTHERS ABOVE, THOSE PROGRAMS YOU ARE MENTIONING ARE THE OPERATIONS OF OTHER MINISTRIES AND THEREFORE ARE BEING CARRIED OUT BY APPROPRIATE MINISTRIES. DID YOU NOT READ THE PROGRAM FOR CONSTRUCTION OF HOSPITAL ALL OVER ZAMBIA AND SCHOOLS. DON’T BE IN THE HABIT OF READING JUST ONE ARTICLE IN ISOLATION TO OTHERS. BUKOPO. SO, TO YOU THE STADIUM OR UNIVERSITY MUST BE IN LUSAKA AND NOT MONGU OR KALOMO?

  12. WELL DONE MR KAMBWILI. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. LET’S SEE WHAT EDUCATED PEOPLE CAN ALSO DO APART FROM CONDUCTING RALLIES AND INCITING PEOPLE AGAINST DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. WELL DONE PF.

  13. Look at the other side of the coin fellow zambians. This stadium is gona create employment 4 the locals obviously on a short term.which is not bad at all.
The other thing this stadium is going 2 bring is talent. In other nations they are promoting talent as an aternative 2 creating employment as opposed 2 depending on copper mines.Football and other sports disciplines are big bussiness in Europe and jst across the border in RSA.Let us not restrict ourselves 2 one thing.

  14. There NO medicine in hospitals, no food, schools are run down and these fools think people care of a stadium? This is rubbish! You chibwi no plan are just sickening!

  15. PRIORITIES: To build a stadium in Western province or improve worn-out, depleted infrastructre, most of which is hazardous. Perilous civil servant houses, lack of Stand-by gen sets in district hospitals, poor water and sanitary systems in residential areas, poor logistics affecting agriculture sector etc.Build a rice processing factory at least which can create a chain of jobs
    .
What has gone wrong with these chaps manifesto of 2011? Implementation challenges or lack of vision?

  16. We need Technical Trade Schools in Western and Northwestern provinces of zambia to equip the youth there with skills that will help them find jobs in mines and other industries that are coming up. Training youth in modern Trade schools is the real empowering we need. Not stadias. Please can someone like MPs, I mean real MPs not Masumba type, stand up and speak for these people in these areas. Look at how many schools are being built in Muchinga The Euthopia of MCS.

  17. Not this BUFFOON Kambwili again!! What are you going to do with a Stadium play football 30 days a month for 12 months in a year….you have the Zambezi-Shangombo Cashew Corridor that has large, suitable tracts of land (1.3 million ha) capable of producing 250,000 tons/year of the exotically pricey cashew nuts  with a potential turnover of $106 million. There is already a factory cashew nut factory well connected to a tarred road, electricity-national grid and has new processing equipment with capacity to process 3,000kgs of raw nuts per day with potential employment creation…which is need of investors at  the moment. And these lame brained politicians want to invest $$$$ in a stadium a stadium!!
We deserve better than these clowns!!
    Wake up people!!

  18. Man of action at work.Do not panic people all provinces will be developed with infrastructre, roads, hospitals and schools.Second new houses for civil servants in all new district will be built.

  19. Constructing a stadium in Kwabulozi is wonderful because development must go everywhere in the country. Keep it up Kambwili. Kwabulozi is Zambia.

  20. I am not PF but from some bloggers above Iam begining to understand why Sata and kambwili are working by decree rather than consultation. You cannot satisfy all, just do what you want. Some are saying stadium is ok, some no hospital, some no schools, some no revive cashew nuts farm, some no we dont want your development. Remeber this project was just stolen from Livingstone but even location in western province is a problem. Some are saying take it to Kaoma. Does this explain why my beloved Western province has lagged behind in development?

    • If Zambia were a Kingdom, ‘working by decree’ would be the norm however it’s a republic that holds elections, has a parliament, has an electorate. We have a social compact which is enshrined in the constitution (which might I add stills needs work). The issue isn’t really that stadium but the it’s the logic -or lack there of- behind it. Merely building new structures does not constitute progressive development. Had they instead used the billions to improve other sectors of the local economy and soci-economic backbone while at the same time creating new industries as some here have mentioned, it would be a wise investment.
