Mwinilunga District Education Board Secretary, Dorothy Maseke has come under fire from the Patriotic Front (PF) leadership that want her removed from the district in the area for sharing a platform with opposition UPND MP, Stephen Katuuka.
The PF leadership, led by Mwinilunga district chairman, Godfrey Foloshi and Constituency chairman, August Kampelembe, presented a petition to District Commissioner, Victor Kayikesi today demanding the removal of Ms Maseke.
Mr Kayikesi confirmed receiving the petition which he said he will send to North Western Permanent Secretary, Augustine Seyuba for a decision.
The DC said the ruling party leadership in Mwinilunga is incensed by the decision of the DEBS to hold a meeting in Kayama Ward alongside the UPND MP, Mr Katuuka.
Mr Kayikesi said the PF leadership has also accused Ms Maseke of allowing the opposition MP to drive on her official GRZ vehicle when travelling to Kanyama Ward where the date of a by-election has already been announced.
The DC said he has been in touch with Ms Maseke, who has told him that she went to the area to discuss with the community over the plans by provincial education authorities to open the new secondary school which has been under construction.
The provincial administration plans to open Kayama Technical High School on January 14, 2013.
Asked about his view whether he thought Ms Maseke’s visit had a political campaign motive, Mr Kayikesi said it was difficult to know her political position.
He said what has sparked the demands by the PF leadership to have the DEBS removed is that she was in wrong company of an opposition leader in an area that is politically sensitive due to a local government by-election that is underway.
However, the DC said what he knows is that the DEBS has been working under instructions from the Provincial Education Office to have the uncompleted school opened.
He said the party officials are also against the idea of opening the new secondary school when the toilets are not completed and there is no water, electricity and text books.
Mr Kayikesi said he supports the view of the party officials that the school must not open because the environment is not yet conducive for learning.

The calibre of pf cadres continues to let us down. The DEBS is a civil servant and not an employee of pf. As a civil servant she performs govt functions and not party functions. Kabimba shud b more concerned about educating his cadres than fighting GBM,GL and others
