United Party for National Development Deputy (UPND) spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has said that his party will soon begin primary elections in all its party structures from the branch level to the party presidency.

He said that his party will in February begin its preparations for the national convention elections. Mr Mweetwa said all positions are open to any member of the party and that they are no positions in the party are exclusive for individuals.

“The party will elect leaders staring from the branch, ward, constituency, district, province and then national management committee,” he said. “Any member of the party is free to contest any position in the party,” he said.

He said that he had not yet made a decision on whether he would defend his position in the party as he believed that it was not about position but service and character to the people.

[pullquote]“The MP was a political misfit and that his perceived humbleness was not anything to go by as he was unreliable character,” he said.[/pullquote]

Mr Mweetwa said there was no power struggle in the UPND in the run up to the elections in the party. He also said that the party could not state whether it would contest the Livingstone seat on its own or would go into an alliance with the MMD.

“It is too early to make decision on whether we shall partner with other opposition political parties to contest the forth coming by elections,” he said.

Mr Mweetwa said the party will make the right decision when the time comes as at the moment there is no need.

He confirmed that his party will contest in the Mpongwe and Livingstone bye election.

Mr Mweetwa said that the former Livingstone MP Rev Howard Sikwela behaved like a kid. He said that there was no interference in his operations as Member of Parliament for Livingstone.

[pullquote]He said that he used the chance he was given for his personal gain as he wanted to be appointed provincial minister and that the party refused to allow him.[/pullquote]

He said it is a relief to the people of Livingstone that he has resigned.

“The MP was a political misfit and that his perceived humbleness was not anything to go by as he was unreliable character,” he said.

He said that Sikwela had not gone to the people of Livingstone to appreciate what they had done for him.

He said that Sikwela was ungrateful to the people of Livingstone and all the people that sacrificed for his campaign and the voters.

He said that he used the chance he was given for his personal gain as he wanted to be appointed provincial minister and that the party refused to allow him.

  1. First, happy 2013 everybody and after taking an extended break, my firing and eventual death was highly exaggerated.

Am back and this is going to be a interesting year, especially with happenings in my great party MMD.

Anyway let me address a small UPND matter on hand. I think UPND really need a make over and open the party to all Zambians and I would go as far as suggest that HH should not even contest the party presidency.

That party needs fresh air. While I acknowledge that HH funds UPND and has a right to have the title of life president, I think he can still bankroll the party without being the president and being a business man he should realise that there are always people who do things better than you

    • Your ideas are erroneous and dont deserve any attention. The UPND is not in a crisis;it has become fashionable for unprincipled mps to change political parties for mere personal gain.UPND is fine with HH at the helm and your concern should be with your crisis laden mmd.
27 pf mps allied themselves with the mmd but the pf thrushed the mmd at the next polls.so,the departure of sikwela is just a storm in a tea cup.

    • # 2.1 lightening, see my next comment. HH is a certified loser and the numbers show no sign of reversing. Sata’s numbers were trending up from election to election. You have to be insane or on HH’s payroll to not see anything wrong with that and have the audacity of saying UPND is fine with HH.

    • Walasa mudala! Yeah, HH should stand down and let someone else lead the UPND. The new leader of UPND should not be from Southern, Western or Northwestern Provinces. To completely wash off its tag of been a Bantustan tribal party , the UPND needs a President from Northen, Luapula or Muchinga Provinces.

    • It’s quite painful but i will have to agree with you for the first time that If they are to regain their political relevance they need to get rid of HH.

    • Is the reason you do not like HH because he is Tonga? Now that your MMD is in a crisis, you are free join your fellow monkeys my friend! Namulambe, Nawakwi, and Chipimo are ahead of you!

  2. Even if sikwela is given a position in govt, his enjoyment will be shorlived. He has technically annihilated his political career.

    • whose talking about sikwela here?how does he come up in a discussion for party convention which he has ditched, some of you just have personal grudges kikikiki

  3. As a president, and measuring this on a business score card, HH has failed miserably and he stock continues to trend down.

He might encourage himself that the same was said about the Great Michael Satan Sata, but truth be told, from election to election Satan Sata’s stock was always trending up and he continued improving from election to election and there was a strong reason for Satan Sata to stay in the game.

I doubt if HH as a business man would invest in his stock or brand that has shown consistent decline from election to election. It’s time he liquidated his political life

I think it is time for UPND to do something different. MMD needs a strong partner who is consistent.

    • Someone consistent like the former Reform party leader! Who became the former MMD VP. Or the dude who was Governor in UNIP before he became Secretary General of the MMD. Campaigned for the abrogation of Presidential term limits so that Chiluba and his MMD could continue in power. Then the same person is reborn under the PF. He then claims that the KK he ran away from in UNIP was the best democratic leader and economic genious in Zambia’s history! Not to mention the consistence of the immediate past President who had never been in any other political party other than the MMD! Bootlicker, are you also taking the State House cocktail of mutototo and dried special spinach?

    • Even then HH was the best bait compatible to modern demands of a visionary
leader, but what can he do when elections are decided by half brains?i think now th
you have got ukwa‘s dose you will use your brains to vote and not your dicks
      and pussies.

  4. IN ITS FORMATIVE YEARS, THE LEADERS OF UPND TOLD THIS COUNTRY THAT UPND CAN ONLY BE RULED BY A TONGA. AT ONE TIME IT WAS CONTENDED BY SOME THAT MUTINTA MAZOKA SHOULD TAKE OVER FROM ANDERSON. THAT WAS A VERY BIG NAIL INTO THE COFFIN OF UPND. HH(MR IBU) HAS PROVED TO BE THE WORST TONGA. MAZOKA WAS LESS TRIBAL. EVEN IF A CONVENTION WAS HELD TODAY IN UPND ONLY A TONGA WILL TAKE ITS PRESIDENCY. NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT AS LONG AS HE PROVES NOT TO BE TRIBAL. UPND HAS A VERY DAUNTING TASK . THEY HAVE TO DO ENOUGH TO REMOVE THIS TAG OF TRIBALISM THAT IS EATING THEM LIKE ARMY WORMS IN A MAIZE FIELD.

  5. Lightening, very funny, ati MMD was thrushed! It was UPND which was wired left right and centre after you confused (convincing) each other that you were very popular and could win if you go it alone.

  6. Chief bootliker claims to be mmd and yet he is pf! Let the upnd choose their own leader and I think HH is the right person for them.for your own information HH will sweep southern, western, north western, central, lusaka, eastern and copperbelt rural….he was number two in northwestern and western province.lusaka and eastern are coming along in 2016! Kaponyas will vote on one side while productive Agricultural and livestock keepers on the other. Viva HH 2016!

  7. When people who call themselves leaders write things like we see above you know for sure the nation lacks leaders, you people need to grow up in the way you handle national issues.

    • PF is party for Bembas. Over 90% of the cabinet is Bemba. 90% of Permanent Secretaries are Bembas. 90% of parastatal chiefs are Bembas. 90% of PF Presidential, First lady and Ministerial visits have been to Bembe speaking provinces of Northern, Luapula and so called Muchinga Provinces. 90% of Zambian foreign missions are now populated by Bembas. Zambia is now Bembabia! When people complained about these tribal and nepotistic appointments the retort from you Bemba cadres was simply: ‘These are the people who voted for PF’! Implicitly you were telling us that PF is a Bemba Tribal party !

    • Much as I hate to agree that most of these appointments have been more skewed towards Northern and Eastern provinces, It is also imperative to realise that, if you are just going by names, Northern, Luapula, Copperbelt, Northwestern, Part of Central province, part of Eastern province all have names that look and read just like Bemba’s. It is however undeniablly true that Nothern and Eastern provinces have enjoyed a lion’s share in these appointment and I would urgue the Govt to be impartial in their appointment if the “ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION” motto is to remain meaningful in our country.

  8. Justice, upnd has six mps in western, four in nwp and three in central…it is not only tongas my dear! Lozis, kaondes, lundas;luvales, lenjes , lambas and the nyanja group also.when northerners and luapula voted for pf they are not tribal?? Look and the chairpersons of pf in all the provinces, from one region it is not tribal, ambassadors in europe, public and civil service chief executives all from one region!do you know why kenyans voted for Raila 0dinga? Your hatred for tongas wil eat you up. I m from western but typical of you guys it wil be ‘just the same people’. Change your superioty copmplex before it is too late.ask yourself, are you not being tribal yourself??

    • Patrick theses tribalists will never think with their brains but with their skulls. It is a known fact that Kapwepwe,Chiluba and Sata have uttered tribalist sentiments that a Tonga must not be allowed to be a President,YET LOOK AT HOE THEY SCREAM THAT UPND IS TRIBALISTS.DOES UPND MPS come from southern Province?

  9. MMD chiefbootliker, Knowing the behavior of Leaders in UPND, I dont see them taking your advise seriously. U can tell by the comments coming from their supporters here. UPND with HH will never go anywhere.

  10. NO 5 That accusation was made by Sakwiba Sikota when he lost elections. Its not true that its the party stance. Unfortunately after he said this HH and the party has lived with this tag especially that Sakwiba himself was highly regarded in UPND. For someone to really say the truth about tribal politics one needs to look at the composition of the NEC of the party. You would find that the party is far from being a tribal party as all tribes are represented. As for presidency i would be surprised if the party survives after HH is gone. UPND is more democratic than PF.PF has had only one president since its was formed whilst UPND has had two.As a country this is a disease which we need to cure as every party is looked at from the president as if he owns the party.

    • UPND has had two presidents because the first one died and not voted out. The second one told Panji that ‘ I can give you Kapita and that will be the end of UPND, I am UPND and UPND is me’. Paraphrased quote, so I doubt the democracy that you are singing about.

  11. @ 11, Shekela, The majority of people who voted for PF are in lusaka and CB. Nothern Province by then voted for RB and Sata, . Yes much of Luapula voted for PF but RB had some votes there also.

  12. Bootliocker has always been MMD. This is the problem with you UPND guys that you label anyone who points out truths you dont want to see about yourselves. UPND is fond of making media statements, so you can not lie to us about something you have already said in the media. Firstly, Bootlicker is right about HH. Facts speak for themselves. Secondly, HH and UPND officials have threatened to make this country ungovernable for PF, and have also threatened MPs for working with the government of the day. Why do you deny things you are on record for saying? Denial will not make you improve on your weaknesses. Grow up. Yoiu should be over five by now, surely?

    • make the country ungovernable? sounds like the statement Sata made in Mtendere after he lost elections in 2006 to Mwanawasa. That is the rally at which he held a cabbage in his right hand and told the crowd that ‘this is what you voted for’!

    • YOU HAVE A SHORT MEMORY BWANA.WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PF MPS WHO AGREED TO WORK WITH MMD GOVT.DURING THE TIME OF MWANAWASA(REST IN PEACE).SATA SINGLE HANDEDLY EXPELLED THEM.ASK DR.PETER MACHUNGWA.HISTORY CAN NOT LIE

  13. Mawee! electing a UPND party president who is non- Tonga is wishing thinking.Ackson Sejeni made it very clear when electing the successor of the late Anderson Mazoka that UPND can only be led by a Tonga and this is the reason why ‘Saki’ ,a non-Tonga, was chased in that meeting in Mazabuka.

One thing most Zambians do not realise is that UPND was formed out of the realisation that there was too much political dominance in the country by ‘Bemba speaking people’.They believe Zambia is poor today because ‘the monkeys have been in charge of the maize field’!!
So asking for a non-tonga be in charge of the reings of UPND is asking too much

    • Point of correction, It was Madyenkuku who said that, and the same chap had just defected from the FDD at the time and was still trying to be noticed by everyone, and since then the UPND have had to deal with a tag that he left, and now he is no longer with UPND…

    • NO….. MADYENKUKU WAS ONLY ACKNOWLEDGING WHAT HE HAD OBSERVED IN UPND. HE IS NOT THE ONE WHO HANG THAT TAG ONTO UPND. IT IS ALSO INTERESTING TO NOTE WHAT BOOTLICKER HAS OBSERVRD. THAT UPND WAS FORMED WITH THE SOLE PURPOSE OF DOING AWAY WITH THEIR WRONGLY-PERCEIVED BEMBA DOMINANCE. SO UPND IS FORMED WITH A TRIBAL AGENDA BY DESIGN AND DEEDS.

  14. I do agree with MMD Bootliker, HH needs to step aside for new leadership to save UNDP. HH and UNDP confidence is a danger unto itself. Talking about the UNDP downdown spiral, Mazoka left him with 54 MPs, Now HH has only 19 MPs. With looming by-elections, HH and UNDP will be truly a Tongo party with potentially less than 10 MPs.

  15. I wish to announce that I won’t stand for any position. When we win, I will just get nominated as MP like Wynter Kabimba

  16. When southerners for two terms,1990 and 1996 voted for mmd which was led by chiluba from the region no one called them tribal.it was western and northwestern provinces who were called tribal for rebelling against the super region,by forming the national party and later agenda for zambia. In fact the late heavy weight ‘mukosa’Emmanuel kasonde lost to mr kalingeme in malole! Why? Because he wants to sell bembas to lozis!now when tongas vote for their own, you label them tribal! When Mazoka was leading in 2001 you said ,teti, kuti aleta isune mu cairo road! Today you praise him and condemn HH!where is kola foudation?? Before you remove a speck in your brother eye….the bottom line is all groupings are tribal period!

    • BUT SOME ARE MORE TRIBAL THAN OTHERS. IF SP VOTED WITH OTHER REGIONS IN 1990 AND 2001 THEN THEY DID NOT EXHIBIT ANY TRIBAL INCLINATIONS? WP AND NWP WERE LABELLED TRIBAL BECAUSE THEY BECAME OUTLIERS FROM A STRAIGHT LINE. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT OTHER THAN THINKING THAT SOME TRIBAL SENTIMENTS HAD INFUSED THE RESIDENTS.

  17. Shekela,

Can you mention the names of the members of the UPND Central Committee and its top leadership who are from Eastern, Muchinga, Northern , and Luapula provinces. How many are they out of the total number of the members of Central Committee?

    • IF A BEMBA IS NOT IN CHARGE OF AN ORGANIZATION THEN THEY FORM THEIR OWN AND APPOINT THEMSELVES.UPND WILL CEASE TO BE TRIBAL ONCE A BEMBA IS ELECTED LEADER.

  18. This is really interesting but I think there is no cause for alarm. HH should stand with someone else and let the people vote. Then we shall see what happens there after. I love you all Zambians. Please don’t quarrel. I am Micheal Sata.

  19. maxmbizo, any special reason why you hav mentioned those provinces??when voting had closed in 2001 had closed the same provinces continued to vote for mwanawasa,a’ kalenjin’ of zambia like arap moi of kenya who was to be controlled by the ‘kikuyus!’ As for the names of the upnd management i don’t know them because they hav not been publicised! Tell us you seem to agree with wat I had earlier said about HH.why those provinces??

  20. All those trying to give voluntary advise to HH are deliberately wanting to disorganize UPND.HH like any other Zambian is entitled to rule this country. There is nothing tribal about UPND bening headed by a Tonga. You bembas do not see beyond your nose just like you are ashamed now that you sata you supported has failed to take the country anywhere otherthan being tribal. see your cabinet, see your ambassadors, your PS, Boards of this and that. All stinking Bemba and you dont see that this is trobalism. If UPND is for Tongas tehn PF is for Bembas.
Tongas dont believe in cheap people like sata. the fact that tongas are rich, makes them unbribable. Your poverty has made you get fooled easily to an extent that you vote for someone who tell you that you will have more money in your pockets

  21. mwanafumu is not real ,,he is a black maamba with no vision..this time around we are for upnd and HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FOR STATEHOUSE..MAY GOD BE WITH US ALL.

  22. At the helm of UPND what contribution has HH made to the once vibrant national party? Watch this figures:
    2001 2005 2008 2011
    UPND: 26.76% 25.32% 19.70% 18.17%
    MMD: 28.69% 42.98% 40.09% 35.42%
    PF: 3.35% 29.37% 38.13% 41.98%
Will the downward trend change if HH still remains UPND president? I doubt it, mainly because of the underlying reasons as highlighted by the resigned Livingstone MP. HH has a big intrinsic political Tonga inbreeding problem. No republican President ever wore such tag. Its a big and highly visible tag that any political underfive cannot notice or recognize, but keep bragging about with misdirected optimism, full of dissent rather than leadership. down down down and downward trend, no chance for…

  23. IAM THE REAL MC SATA..NOT# 24..IAM TIRED OF ZAMBIAN POLITICS..YOU YOUNG FELLOW,,PREPARE YOURSELVES TO TAKE OVER THE COUNTRY’S LEADERSHIP,,I HAVE ACHIEVED WHAT I WANTED..TO BE A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT..WHAT ELSE,,? WELL ZAMBIA IS BIGGER THAN ME…

  24. Floyd Chitalu be yourself..don’t tessy H.H..he is very sharp man..very intellegent…they will rule one day,,our GOD who gives will give H.H the republican presidency..its about time…GOD IS ALWAYS GOOD.

  25. #28, Floyd Chitalu be yourself..don’t fool H.H..he is very sharp man..very intellegent…they will rule one day,,our GOD who gives will give H.H the republican presidency..its about time…GOD IS ALWAYS GOOD.

  26. #28, Floyd Chitalu be yourself..don’t tissy H.H..he is very sharp man..very intellegent…they will rule one day,,our GOD who gives, will give H.H the republican presidency..its about time…GOD IS ALWAYS GOOD.

  27. I am not teasing HH. Its the results that tells us everything. I am not in dreamland, I am not in a bubble. I am just looking at facts and details: In our recent national election, UPND: 26.76% 25.32% 19.70% 18.17%. Mazoka left him with 54 MPs, now HH has only 19 MPs! And you think this is a joke? This indicates ultimate dust bin destination.

    • Iwe tombah noko, whatever statistics you want to give as are irrelevant, sata’s
Popularity flourishes because of semi-thinkers like you people who are in the majority
In an advanced thinking society his name can not even appear on the ballot paper.
so remain stupid but be assured now we are taking over and put HH in office come
      2016

  28. The entire lot on all sides need to step aside after 2016 🙂 Time to empower youth and breathe fresh life into our nation. All those young guns in 1964 learned to do was adore the opportunity given and forgot how vibrant, energetic and forward moving youth can be. In the digital age it is a new paradigm that has been set. My hopes lie in educating the youth to think differently from those who came before but to learn from both their positive and negative approaches to leadership and actually improve and develop a nation. Anything else is stasis. Zambia deserves to continually improve. No current option is an improvement just a side step as too many players on the field should be disqualified for being self absorbed 🙂

  29. Floyd chitalu, have you seen how tribalism can make you dull? Upnd has 30 mps and not the 19 you and your tribesmate believe! Simply because one pf leader said upnd is only in southern province you all parrot that! May jehova deliver you! Besides getting all seats in southern they have 6 kwa hae,4 in nwp and 2 in central province…ask yourself, who is more likely to get mmd seats in these areas in 2016? Your guess is as good as mine! In western province your relatives are robbing our banks…finance bank in kaoma, natsave in mongu n zanaco in senanga! Can we vote for masholi in 2016?

  30. It is chaps like mweetwa that re deceiving hh behind he’s back they discuss wt the likes of Garry nkombo the thug on hw to get rid of him,hh should learn from sata who had lost elections over and over but never became bitter, elo this is just the begining richwell siamunene is also resigning

  31. HH is a power house in business not one can dispute that fact.He is also inteligent and very smart in the corperate world. But as far as politics are corncened he is a fall guy.He cant jst make UPND win elections in 2016 or in any other election year.In life you cant have it all. What God has given HH is enough.

  32. UPND would do the nation a favour by finally getting rid of HH at the convention. We have wasted enough money printing ballot papers with HH’s name when he stands no chance in hell of ever winning. Zambians don’t dislike UPND but dislike its leader HH. Remove him and UPND will be back competing for serious votes not bantustan votes only.

  33. HH has never been bitter when he lost elections! Again it is typical of pf cadres to parrot what their leaders say. Now let me tell you who has been bitter….in 2006 when mr sata lost to mr mwanawasa….in 2008 when mr sata lost to rb, at mulungushi int conference centre, he showed his bitterness by telling a british journalist,’ I haven’t lost you br****y f***ng jounalist!’ That was bitterness! Now show me HH s bitterness? Do we call chanda chimba the great to show you a clip?

  34. Watch this figures properly. Sata lost election but every repeat he made he became better and better until he won. On the opposite side HH has kept loosing, getting worse and worse. Do not substitute reality and imagination:
    2001 2005 2008 2011
    UPND: 26.76% 25.32% 19.70% 18.17%
    PF: 3.35% 29.37% 38.13% 41.98%
If you are banking on the fact that because HH has a lot of Money and so he will win, well as Kavindele and BY Mwila. Boith had lots of money at the time, I do not know now, but they never made it. RB Banda displayed a lot of wealth during elections, you know the story. Recently in USA Romney is a Billionnaire but failed to unseat Obama. So a case of money never always work in election. So it takes more than money. Money will be used to buy and entertain voters but reality…

  35. If the Party goes to the national conversion, then ba HH will lose his presidential position. This time we don’t want a loss please. We are tired of losing general elections from 2001 up to date. Whats the secret. Lets see PF lose to UPND in the next tripartite elections. We are just counting on UPND as a giant party because MMD has gone to the dogs. Let Mr Hakainde accept a defeate in the upnd’s national convention for the sake of change. Let every well meaning zambian challenge Mr Hakainde but if Mr Hakainde retains the party presidency, may be due to corruption, then PF is going into second term.

  36. And if you think lies and tribal superioty will win you elections forget. Barotse agreement,15 bags of fertiliser on loan and another 15 for free, chinese wil go back etc .just watching znbc news where cb pf youth chairperson is calling on livingstone residents to vote for another party other than upnd so that they won’t be called tribal! He himself. Is a kikuyu under a kikuyu party and president !he fails to see his own tribalism.Rainbow coalition is coming against the ‘kikuyus’ of zambia!

  37. I dont know where No. 41 got that Sata told that jounalist such but i have the clip and so do countless others….. Sata said ” I have not bloody lost…..” Its not the same as what No. 41 wrote.
According to Xavier Chuungu’s testimony Anderson K. Mazooka won the 2001 election but Chiluba rigged in favour of his percieved puppet Levy. People didnt mind Mazookas tribe and they voted for him but the coming of HH to the helm of UPND brought the tribal tag because most people felt Sakwiba was better placed to lead the party and that “only a tonga can lead UPND” didnt help matters. UPND shouldnt even stand at the Convention, let others with no tribal tags take over and maybe UPND will rise again.

  38. Sakwiba sikota and HH are now friends! Rainbow coalition is coming bane! You have messed up cotton and maize farmers in the eastern province! Your peole from kikuyu land are robbing banks in western province, conning banks in america, drug dealing in malaysia, plundering the zambian economy,’ I have just taken’.sHared jobs and business among yourselves with a few to disgruntled elements and traitors from other provinces to woodwink the peole!

  39. The problem with Zambians is that you always want every party to be in GVT one day.Why cant you let some parties just exist as opposition parties without being in GVT. Even in developed nations not every party will ever form gvt. For years now only two parties have been competing in both UK and USA.This is the democratic model we took so learn from that.

  40. SERIOUSLY, LT MUST EMPLOY QUALIFIED EDITORS:

“Mr Mweetwa said all positions are open to any member of the party and that they are no positions in the party are exclusive for individuals.”

THIS ENGLISH CAN ONLY COME FROM RETARDS.

  41. There is too much writing about politics here. Where is the business news? Can you for example give the readers the detailed performance of the budget up to third quarter last year? What about the taxes in the mines and on individuals? Why is there a shortage of mealie meal sidedly?

This issue of just writing politics is not helping the country

  42. Some people are not fair. HH is well known in most rural and urban areas.A new person will mark the end UPND more over HH is young. He is now political mature. The only thing he can do is when he on TV let him produce a smile and team builder.Ackson Sejani would do better to come back and assist HH.

  43. Indeed UPND needs to get new leadership. HH won’t just do it. He won’t deliver. UPND cadres are dreamers. I bet Mazoka was more intelligent than HH. HH has failed to find a winning formula and is shy of a national critical mass to usher him into plot 1. He just doesn’t have a convincing message. No charisma! No resonance with the common man-the voter in Mansa, Kasama, Chinsali, Ndola, Lusaka, Chipata!

  44. Actually HH is a dull politician. He is not Mr. Charmer. His message is all about bragging about himself and fails to say how he will uplift others, in simple sloganeering language! His sycophant tribal followers are equally misguided strategists. HH does not talk about water in compounds nor education for poor people convincingly. Stupid and doomed and not adventurous. Stuck to tribal appeal!

  45. HH’s messages are so dry. Since he entered politics, there is nothing significant memorable worth quoting. He is just a figure up there to bank roll the party. So if I feel like this about HH, yet I read about him, I watch him on TV speaking, what about a rural dweller who does not have so much media interaction? No stance is associated with him! Sata built a name and a character in the minds of voters (impression) that he is a tough guy! No nonsense! When they got annoyed with MMD, they obviously wanted someone who could fire with immediate effect! A man of action! WHO IS HH? A tribal leader. That is all.

  46. What an opportunity to rebrand the party as a national party with a true national character. There is no partynthat can win the presidency without significant support from other regions. UPND just has to fuse in other tribes among the top management to look national. This convention is an opppotunity not to bury heads in the sand. Their language should also change rather than condemining naything Muchinga or Northern. They should make friends and adopt less radical tribal outlook.
