We are happy Government deported our M.D – Lafarge employees

We as Lafarge employees including unionised workers who suffered most in the hands of the deported director would like to use this opportunity and thank the Zambian Govenment for deporting our former director Mr Fola Esan. This man had no human heart. He never respected us and nor our laws, worse off the Government and its leadership.

He has sown seeds of division among us employees. He brought a lot of exploitative rules that oppressed his workers to a point were no one could talk or complain. He became untouchable. This Government had its own reason for deporting him and so did we as employees. Almost everyone is happy except for a small group of selfish managers that he used to perform his evil acts.

Hitler is gone and we are happy and working peacefully. The Home affairs and Labor ministries should have come to find out from employees whether we are happy or not following the deportation of our most hated former MD.

Once again we say thank you to the Ministry of Home affairs and please we beg you not to allow this man to come back. They have wasted our pension scheme, this causes our retirees to come back begging for contract employment a few weeks after retirement. We humbly request our Govmnt to intervene and investigate what happens to our pension. We urge our sleeping Labor ministry to wake up and stand for the good of the Zambian workers. I am among those employees who are retiring in the next two years and hope they don’t pay us half our pension benefits.

  1. @1 and 3, labour laws must be respected by all.according to the discreption, its gd that he is gone we could hv heared something like shooting a zambian.

  2. I personally support the government of the day, as what the people wanted as employees was attended to, however, all boarders on HRM who has no vision for the employees. This Manager has no direction as such everybody does what ever he/she wants because she feels comfortable, but one day time will come and the same one will cry foul as no-one will listen.

I feel a replacement is also required for HRM and together with stoods.

  3. Those calling others lazy must be the managers referred to in the article. Many people have suffered at the hands of this moron. Lafarge just and fires as they wish because the law under ci RB favoured the so called investors.

  4. Think of what action Lafarge will take. Larfage employed the MD and a kaponya comes in to deport the MD. There could repercusions both in production and investment. Two companies producing cement are now thinking whether it is worthwile investing in Zambia. Others are also studying the situation.

    • @janji, if ‘Kaponya’ is a man of the people, why not send ndi styopet MD. Some of you think using your emotions because of hatred for the president. What repercussion both in production and investment. Ulicipuba sana iwe kolwe, who do you want to mislead makaka iwe.

    • Njanji you are a very big fool. It is not the fault of the government if the investment appraisals of those two companies were faulty. If they want to close down, let them do so. Others will come and replace them. We must not allow a situation where the so called investors try to hold us to ransom and disrespect our labor laws.

    • you people (boogie & kapaso) do not realise that larfarge is bigger than Zambia, revenues more than ten times Zambia’s GDP and origniate from a country in the G8 group. in the short term it might not seem that anything is happening but be rest assured the slow actions of different individuals that Zambia iis hurting through such undiplomatic actions will have bad repercusions in the long run

  5. the market for cement in zambia has sky rocketed so what are you talking about the investors are cooming into the sector have you heard of the Dangote group in masaiti research before you mislead the nation, with the GRZ, infrastructre development programmes how can you say the cement industry is under threat.

  6. These stupid so called investors can bring their money, but the Law has to be respected, just because they have brought their money in doesn’t mean they have also bought the law! Zambians suffers at the hands of these so called investors, Zambian Immigration is so much corrupt in our country, anyone regardless of qualifications are given work permits, under qualified foreigners are coming in without any difficulties, and the results of having unlearnt foreigners they feel superior hence abusing our fellow country men and women. its time Gov put to an end to this abuse!!!!!!

  7. Lazy *****s.Some of them are sticking around hoping that they buy those housesin estates. They have even started turning those houses into bars.

  8. The story here is the pension. Are you saying that lafarge has mismanaged the employee pension scheme and its returning less than projected? Thats a serious allegation and if its true thats a matter that needs to be looked into separately because it would have come from way back, before even Fola became MD as pension is a long term investment. Who are the fund managers?

  9. Iwe ka Goncalves leave the man or men alone u lazy chap shame on u respect for law is important ka MD is that what he learnt at school mistreating of workers

  10. I have read incoherent letters in the past, but this taking it to the lowest.
This is so hard to read, terrible English and that is a compliment by the way, It is that me speaking mildly by the way.

LT how about proof reading these ‘letters’ in the future. I am happy to oblige if you need help.

    Thanks

  11. Chilanga Cement employees are all useless and dull. How can you let baggers from Europe distroy that once beautifull place, Musamba and Chilanga Estates and yet you live there too? The road to Estates is gone, Musamba has no water and electricity. Musamba Hall is gone. Public toilets are no longer functioning. Musamba Bar is gone. Chilanga estates recreation is gone. Surely there must be a union for Lafarge isn’t it? Employees are to blame

  12. 10% increase to salary is wht they get yearly… which is 200 to 300 kr per employee… Pathetic, wht a company, elo ukubeula lisa? atfa 100 yrs?

  13. Havent been to Zambia for a good 2 to 3 years but I am slowly sensing that we are moving away from a free-market economy and giving applause to dictatorship.

Of those readers amonst you who are currently residents in post-PF Zambia, kindly correct me if I’m wrong.
