Arthur Davies and Nkoloma Get Faz’s Thumbs Up

Share

Faz says only Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka and Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe meet the grade to host local and international fixtures.

Arthur Davies is home ground to Power Dynamos while Nkoloma hosts games involving Red Arrows.

Faz spokesperson Erick Mwanza said all clubs had until the March 19 kickoff date of the 2013 league season to ensure all their home grounds met the minimum standards.

Mwanza said Levy Mwanawasa Stadium was exempt from the league grading.

“Where we are now only two stadiums meet the requirement for CAF international matches,” Mwanza said.

“We have Nkoloma and Arthur Davies these meet the requirements of club licensing.

“If we were to fully implement the law in so far as club licensing is concerned and stadia we would probably have two Arthur Davies and Nkoloma, I am leaving out Levy Mwanawasa.”

He said not even Sunset Stadium in Lusaka made the grade forcing Zanaco to play its continental games at Nkoloma.

    • I think Erick Mwanza forget to include one beautiful football facility which came to our rescue b4 the construction of our own mwanawasa stadium, which is Konkola stadium. it still remains among the best facilities this country have. Konkola stadium is better than Nkoloma and Athur Davies stadium.

  1. Eric, now that you no longer beg for KCM funds you can even mention the two stadia Nchanga and Konkola lets be realistic what is so special about Nkoloma that is not at Konkola

    • I think you have never been to Nkoloma or at Arthur Davies stadia. Please go there you dont need to be told. If you went to these stadia you would not talk about Konkola. Konkola was used for international games simply because it allows a bigger number of people inside it than two afore mentioned stadia period.

  2. 50 years is a long time to change to Zambian names of Stadium. Who is “Sir Arthur Davis”? My children don’t know the guy but know who and what Zambian names/places mean to them. Even if its hang-over sure, 50 years?

    • Sorry my brother Iam one of those who think like you but this Arthur Davies fellow was a Copperbelt Power employee who was also a referee. He initiated the club and the stadium. He was a Zambian. Some Zambians like Guy Scott are of British origin. I hope that sorts out your grievance

    • He was not an employee but owner. He is the big name behind Power Dynamos and the stadium. He even wanted to upgrade KPF but sorry your policies made it imposible to do it. May his soul rest in peace
