Share

Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Chinga Miyutu has expressed happiness over the progress taking place at the site where the Mongu stadium will be built.

Mr. Miyutu, who visited the stadium site before proceeding to Kalabo, found workers clearing the site.

A visibly impressed Deputy Minister said he was happy that Western province was benefitting from the campaign promises of the Patriotic Front (PF) government.

Mr. Miyutu was accompanied by Western province Deputy Permanent Secretary Namukolo Kamona.

And acting Western Province Sports Coordinator Kasolo Chisenga told Mr. Miyutu that the clearing will cover an area of 1,600 square metres and will be completed in 15 days time.

He said 100 casual workers have since been engaged who are using hand tools to cut the few remaining obstacles left by the bulldozer.

And Mrs. Mwiya Sikendaba, one of the casual workers at the site, thanked President Sata for sanctioning the construction of an ultra modern stadium in Mongu.

She said President Sata should be commended by all well meaning Zambians and people of Western province in particular as the stadium will not only develop sports in the province but business activities as well.

The ultra modern Mongu stadium, which will have a sitting capacity of 20,000 people, is situated about 5 kilometres east of Mongu Boma along the Mongu/Lusaka road.

  1. Official Opening game in the new stadium will be between Lozis and Tongas,by then I will be a a deputy minister for western province.Thereafter, President Sata is going to fire me because of my reckless talking. But I wont be hurt as I would have already made a noun as a Tonga bull who served and ate with five Presidents from 1964 to 2013. I will be conferred with an honorary PHD in Politics of Benefits.

  2. You should have used the money to build a new hospital. Lewanika General Hospital is an eyesore. The stadium is a foo.lish idea and waste of money.

  3. Number 3……..Miss Kama Sutra dont just comment without facts, there is already a hospital in Mongu under construction. What else do you want. Plse check facts on the ground first before deceiving the masses. Thanks.

  4. Economic and social developments are welcome in Barotseland as this will lessen pressure on the Barotse National Budget when the territory is disengaged from its failed amalgamation with Northern Rhodesia. We urge the Sata PF Government to bring more of such developments.

  5. @4.Julu. There’s no hospital been constructed in Mongu. Please cut done on the lies. The only health related construction was related to the Dutch Eye Clinic.

  6. And acting Western Province Sports Coordinator Kasolo Chisenga told Mr. Miyutu that the clearing will cover an area of 1,600 square metres and will be completed in 15 days time.
The size of the land to be cleared is confusing. A football pitch alone is about 100m x 100m which is apprx 10 000 square meters. How can 1 600 sq. m take 15 days to complete? Mutisokoneza imwe ma guys na mafigas yanu.
