Former Works and Supply Minister Mike Mulongoti has officially launched his political party, known as the People’s Party.

Speaking at the launch of the party in Lusaka today, Mr Mulongoti pledged to fight corruption in the public service when his party forms government in 2016.

He said his party is determined to bring sanity and integrity in the public office for it to perform to the expectation of the Zambian people.

Mr Mulongoti alleged that there is too much corruption and abuse of national resources by people that have been entrusted with public resources, saying officials in government have amassed so much wealthy.

The People’s Party president said during the time he served in government from 2005 to 2010, he was never involved in any corruption scandal hence his zeal to fight the vice.

He stressed that it is only possible to maintain one’s integrity when they enter the public service with the zeal to serve.

Mr Mulongoti also stated that his criticism of government is not out of hatred or bitterness but that he has a duty as a citizen to offer checks and balances to those entrusted with public resources.

He said the formation of his party is another opportunity the Zambian people have of reviving the nation’s dreams and aspirations.

He said his party has embarked on a programme to restore power to the people by creating real localized democracy as opposed to centralized one.

  1. Yaba another nashala neka party launched. How are you goint to survive without a Job. may be go for a Miyanda style of appearing during election nomination or Sakwiba by name only

  2. that is what poverty is capable of doing. where have you taken the money you stole from the people of zambia? your party is going nowhere!

  3. The Pwetete Pwetete president said that during the period he served in Mobutu Sese Seko gvt he stole a lot of money such that he even bought a Lodge along Kamloops road and that’s where they were strategizing to fool the people in Masaiti district. Wanya……PP!!

  4. I am telling you guys, its a mistake to take this guy lightly. He keeps parading his clean record. Remember this guy was sitting well as the minister in rb’s gvt but bolted out of principle. So laugh all you can just as people laughed when sata formed pf back then.

  5. Mulongoti please if you are talking about 2016 please Join HH and put your idea’s together…every is talking abt him HH.

  6. ZAMBIAN POLITICIANS HUNGRY FOR POWER,WHY DON’T YOU LEARN FROM OTHER DEMOCRACIES WHERE ONLY TWO CANDIDATES ARE FIELDED TO RUN FOR PRESIDENCY.FORMING OF SUCH PARTIES IS OUT OF FRUSTRATION AND SELFISHNESS,HONESTLY YOU CANT JOIN ALREADY ESTABLISHED OPPOSITION PARTIES SO AS TO CONSOLIDATE THEM AND POSSIBLY MAKE IT EASY TO WIN,ALREADY YOU ARE DIVIDING VOTES HOW DO WIN LIKE THAT.THAT TIME WE HAD 11 CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENCY IS LONG GONE NOW WE JUST NEED MAXIMUM OF THREE WOULD BE BETTER.PEOPLES PARTY FOR WHAT TIME WASTER

  7. Let mulongoti solicit support from homosexuals mayb he can pick a few votes from them.seriously he is wasting his time.

  8. Politically Mulongoti can not join any political party as an individual member. He needs to form a political party, become its president then he can form an alliance with the other parties… This is politics’ most of us not know. Look at Chipimo, he is one-man party but some pipo still like his ‘party’. So if Mulongoti choose to join UNDP, he goes straight to UNDP VEEP.. Also if PF feels he will be a threat, they can offer him cabinet position.. Politically Mulongoti is spot on. So just like Chipimo, Miyanda, Nawakwi even HH/Mumba combo, Mulongoti will just be issuing press statements.

  9. This should have called personal party! I feel sorry for Mike for being so arrogant! It seems the sole purpose of forming his political party is to fight corruption, there is nothing this man has for Zambia. For starters he cannot even mention any person he is working with, we have to do away with all these chaps he have already served in govt, he failed and he was equally a bully during the time he served in MMD govt. In Zambia we just need a new crop of politician not all these recycled politician who have mastered the art of reaping off the Zambian wealth!

  10. Am surprised with some bloggers, they are so obssessed about up and down party and some think this tribal party will finally form government, hence advise to Mulongoti to join it. Much as i dont support Mulongoti and his nick named pwetete pwetete party, i would not advise him to join up and down party. up and down party is in the same category of Siulapwa, By, Cosmos, the list you know it. In Zambia, we need to come to terms with one fact that there is no multipartism, we still have one party. That is why even today, for those people who are clever, they are still in govt. Look at how many MMD cadres are still in PF. The latest of course is the multiparty person Munkombwe. It just tells you that we still have one party.

  11. Mr Mulongoti People still remember your arrogance. All are still shaking their heads and saying “Ka Mulongoti”

  12. Keep it up Mike! It is your democratic right to quit, join, merge or create political parties. The road is full of curves, but do your best. Above, accept your defeat first. Victory is forever.

  13. I am also joining Mulongoti so that it will be a party of three..ahahaha.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  14. My advice to the newly formed people’s part(pp) is that, seek ye the kingdom of God and its righteausness then all the people will be added unto the party.just go the down way and you will found yourself up.

  15. People party, my humble advise is you first buy a farm and see if you can manage it before you start joking with many hearts of frustrated zambians.
